I was so engrossed in the story I forgot to study it for technical details or anything, at least until the car mount. Great way to make a single location short. Very captivating and didn't feel static or confined at all. Just a dude wanting a pizza because his dad loves him. Great slice of life.
Dude...BUTTER!! So good! Got serious Drive / Collateral vibes from it. Love the grounded, realistic look and feel...might actually shoot my next short with something similar. Filmmakers from the 6ix out here killing it...Toronto stand up! 🙌🔥
I had to write something here! Watched it this morning and I'm watching it again now. This is a simple script with good shots (love the shots and the transitions), and angles. I particularly like the darkness here, etc., but the brilliant thing is how much you opened the door for different scenarios and possibilities. Your dad loves you, but he could've made the mistake and buy a card without putting money on it. You could've been bluffing. The person on the other side of the line could be making a mistake. See! BUT best thing of all is that in the end, you're gonna be hungry after smoking the joint! so... This is brilliant! Loved it
This is so sick! The cinematography on this one is crazy! Do you have a breakdown on the lighting/color grading? Really love the look of this! Thank you! 🙏🏼🔥
You inspire me!! I don't understand why some UA-camrs say bad things about this camera (ISO, color grading ) I think, the don't know use a camera! I bought this cam some days ago and can't wait to open the box, I bought the 24mm Sirui too. keep going bro! Excellent work!
Most UA-camrs don’t know how to shoot short films, and make their gear work for them. Instead they say the gear isn’t good enough and give you 7 reasons why they’re swapping to the latest camera on the market. Repeat complaint.
Great stuff! Love the color, love the shots. I really like how you didn't over complicate this short with too many cuts or too much movement. Great job...subbed!
late to the party, but amazing shots. Thinking of picking up the fx30 myself. Did you use any noise reduction in the shots with extreme low light, they looked so clean
Awesome short! Came across this video looking into the FX30 vs BMPCC 6K. This definitely helps sway towards the Sony. (Plus those Sirui lenses are dope!)
the grade and shot composition’s are incredible, if you don’t mind me asking, how did you capture such immersive audio or what microphones did you use, did you use any shotgun or lav mics for the dialogue/external setting sounds.
@@sloppysteakswow that’s amazing, what about the external setting sounds like the skytrain in the background and the cigarette/car audio, we’re those all recorded on the Zoom F2 as well?

😄👍
That’s funny.
But yeah I lost count how often I watched it😄love it👍👍

Appreciate it. I find a lot of shorts go flashy so I was consciously trying to be subdued. Glad you picked up on it.
“He loves me.” 😂
😂
You've got such a good eye for composition, man. Really enjoy your shorts
Wait… yeah this didn’t sound right at all.. 😅jk
You've got pretty good acting chops!
Making that FX30 look like smooth smooth butter
Now that's an upload right there.

This is one of a kind, man. Thank you for sharing this. 👑
Verry well done on all levels. Congrats and keep on working!
Oh, man! Just another one of your master classes! You put ME in this situation, and I lived in this world for a while. Sheer magic! Mahalo for this!
'my dad loves me, why would he give me an empty gift card?' 😂 SO GOOD man, bravo

Love this, Love the way the light plays off the car as the train goes by - 🍕🍕🍕
I seriously love your work you really motivate me you're the man!
So good. Hilarious and beautifully filmed. Very immersive.
appreciate it. thanks for watching
The best shorts on UA-cam. By a country mile. They’re just ‘witty’, man. It was definitely a ‘them’ problem!
the self monologue is fire and very respectable
you're so talented dude holy cow
Soo good. Your work genuinely inspires me.

I just got my fx30 after months of research and came back to this video for inspiration.
I really like it.
Hell yeah! This is so sick.
That cough though! Sick colors and edit.
yeah that was a real cough. i don't smoke lol
"....he loves me." So good. Kept it simple! great work and looks beautiful.

@@KaceyBakerFilms Haha! Its truee!
Nice short. The real star of this short is that sweet car, man does it look good in here. I love the dash gauges.
Thanks Patrick.
I only bring her out for special occasions like this.
Very nicely done - the frames look fantastic. So satisfying too, to watch a sequence of locked off shots and get into the story. Bravo.
the color of the dash at the end *chefs kiss
That song was fye good choice
Do you know who's song it is?
Love this. I want to see directors commentary on the subtext here. It has me thinking a lot!
Subtle humor, love it.
This was flame 🔥
cheers Ryan. thanks for stopping by.
Exceptional as always. Great work man 👏
Love the mood you created! Really well done 👏
Great stuff! Love the color, love the shots. I really like how you didn't over complicate this short with too many cuts or too much movement. Great job...subbed!
Cheers! Thanks for watching.
Ok class, this is what we call a triple threat.
Loved it, I was just totally immersed in from beginning to end, I had to watch a second time just to appreciate the beautiful cinematography too!
You should make a longer short film. About something entirely different. But with the same lenses.
approved
i mean this is simply just amazing , wow!!! 👌🏽🔥
Damn, not sure what’s better the cinematography or the acting!
thanks!
Great job with this short!
Yo tbh , you’re like a good actor haha
Man this is great.
Love your work Patrick 🔥
Beautiful shots and grade! Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
🥺 amazing. Just amazing. Your shorts are always such an inspiration
appreciate you
Personally, I think this is the best thing you've done yet! Kudos!
late to the party, but amazing shots. Thinking of picking up the fx30 myself. Did you use any noise reduction in the shots with extreme low light, they looked so clean
This was excellent. Love your talent
GREAT!!!!!!!
This was awesome! 🙌🏾
Great but why is there a lot of noise? What's the ISO you shot on?
i added grain i like it gritty
Absolue fire dude. Simple but perfect scene. Dope dope dope work brother!!
cheers!
How did you not get any reflections from the car windows?
i shot against light there wasn't anything to reflect
this was dope, man. 🔥
How did you guys manage to get good audio? I struggle in that department any recommendations 😭??
i shot this alone, i used a zoom f2. thanks for watching!
Thank you that video is beautifully made
@@sloppysteaks
This was grest! Satisfying.
Absolute fiiiiiiirrre!!! How did you avoid the CA on these? It's the one thing holding me back from pulling the trigger .
I love CA didn’t avoid it at all
Well this is the first time I got disappointed that a short film was well too short, really wanted to see where the story went.
On a roll with the videos brother ❤
Composition & everything so cool! Plz don't smoke
its a prop
@@sloppysteaks oh, also the outro song was fire!
good stuffs man
What ISO was your main go to here?
I use the FX30 as well!
i just left it at 800, I think next time i'd use the second channel at 2500 and darken in post.
@@sloppysteaks Whenever I shoot at 2500, it's surprisingly noisy.
@@OfficiallyOTooleI haven’t noticed but I have a noise tolerance doesn’t really bother me.
How did this not show up in my feed
I loved this, so so well done 🙌🏽♥️
What suction mount did you use at the end?
I fucking love it! You are tuly talented brother.
🙌
awesomeee nice!!!

this short film is awesome dude, if u dont mind sharing, i wanted to know whats ur Sony FX30 settings?
Slog3 iso 800 cheers
@@sloppysteaks thank you, keep creating great things 🤎
This is mint! 👏🏻🎬
This was amazing! Did you use a CFExpress Card or a SD card when shooting this?
SD i only shoot in h265
This is🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really well done, man. Hella subbed!
Sweet!
Dude this is so good!
Thanks!!
This was great!
Did you use any light at all or was it full natural ?
street lamp
The color grading and the ending! WOW. It looks so great! How did you mount the camera to the car?
thanks. its some cheap suction mount from amazon. probably not safe
so did you get the pizza?!
i wonder hwat was used to capture the audio
zoom f2
fire
What lens did you use with this camera?
its in the title
thanks Bro @sloppysteaks 💖
Maravilhosa fotografia
What lens size was used most in front of the car and you speaking on the phone? The 35mm or the 55mm
I don’t recall sorry
Is this lens manual focus only? How did you make sure it stayed in focus shooting this alone?
Eye balled it
@@sloppysteaks one more question if you had money for just one which one is more versatile 24mm or 35mm? You experienced both so I thought to ask.
@@TimiAdelakun so subjective depends on what you want to shoot or how you shoot. can’t answer that for you sorry.
How did you record audio? Sounds amazing
Zoom F2
NICE!! Love this
Thanks!!
I mean, apart from script, framing, lighting and all the good stuff we already know you do well...great acting, man!@@sloppysteaks
excellent
Looks great
epic!
man I love this
You fire bro
yo this is amazing, what do you use for your audio?
Zoom f2
10/10
how did your shadows come out so clean? I'm worried the fx30 won't handle dark scenes well but this looks great! is it just a denser?
Stop watching guys in their bedroom talk about cameras. You can shoot in moonlight with this camera and it’s clean.
@@sloppysteaks 😂😂😂 yoo you just inspired me
I see so many shit short films but this was not one of them. refreshing to see good shots, great job bro.
thanks!
the grade and shot composition’s are incredible, if you don’t mind me asking, how did you capture such immersive audio or what microphones did you use, did you use any shotgun or lav mics for the dialogue/external setting sounds.
Thanks! I’m wearing a Zoom F2 with the included lav. Makes self shooting easy as I don’t have to set levels.
