Very neat machine. I'm gonna look for one also. I'm glad you took the covers off. Neat to see the insides and your repairs. You have a good voice for naration. Easy to understand.
I have one of these. It is a pleasure to use it . I think it is a beautiful peace with it's lovely plasma screen. Mine is in a very good shape and only have a few bad sectors on the hard drive. Thanks for the maintenance video I will check the inside
Great video! Awesome machine. I see your RAM sticks have 3 chips each, I guess the last chip on each stick is for parity. There are 30pin simms without parity, you might wanna try those.
I have recently bought very similar comuter - Toshiba T3100/E40. Everthing worked OK, but my CMOS battery was dead. It was Inorganic SL-760 without any addtional resitors.
Have 2 of them, they both work great. I'm working on one of them to upgrade it to XT-IDE 500MB CF "drive", it has already the max possible RAM, NOS plasma I found a another dead one, and also plan to install GOTEK floppy but not sure about it, as I already replaced the original 720KB with a 1.44MB more convenient to exchange files with modern machines not recognizing 3.5 DD anymore. I'm still looking for the dedicated 640x400 windows 3.1 driver, I tried the Olivetti 6300 driver the Toshiba's adapter derived from but doesn't work on Windows. I succeeded to use this 640x400 resolution on a few app such as Dr.Halo.
the "Li" and "Re" labels perhaps are shortened from the German language "Links" & "Rechts"? (left and right) ... as I see, the keyboard is in German so is a German edition
What also supports this thought is that the big white label at the bottom of the device is showing the German Post (Deutsche Post) Icon for compliance to EMC at 2:07
Do you happen to have also a Toshiba T1910? I have such a laptop and I need to disassembly it as it is not starting anymore and it seems that the cause is a capacitor. Thank you!
CMOS battery is dead on mine but I'm glad I found this video to show me how to get it open! Really interesting the type of battery they used to use in these machines. Thank you for your video because now I can get that switched out!
When I look at the two big cables coming out of the display section (at around 6:58) I noticed that the smaller one with a lone white "header" at the end, with a green cable with a grounding connector coming out of it - what's up with that header? Mine looks weird and it seems that its not connected to anything. Is this correct? Reason for asking is, I started recapping the PSU a year ago, and now I've forgot.
I am not sure what that cable does to be honest. The main two are from the display matrix and 1 poweres the screen and there is also a ground one... maybe the one not connected goes to the LEDs like on the T3200? :)
The display on mine is sadly shattered, as the seller did not provide sufficient packaging after I won the auction at a price the seller did not appreciate... What a shame.
Isn't it amazing that in the 80's they had flat panel displays that were early plasma.. so awesome.. I love those and the early LCDs too
Same here!

The battery can be replaced with a 2032 3.0V works without problem, just the battery needs to be replaced more often, at least every 2-3 years.

Hi there, did the memory you add actually work? As I've read that you have to have toshiba specific ram
