The X86 Generation Computer History Museum Cluj
Приєднався 19 жов 2017
The X86 Generation was born out of my love for retro computers and old gaming gear. I have been collecting vintage equipment for over 15 years now. I buy the old hardware or I receive it as a donation, repair and rebuild if necessary, from my own funds. My afternoons and weekends are spent in a room transformed into a repair shop. I have already reached a large number of exhibits witch gave me the opportunity to participate to several exhibitions and events. The next step for my computer collection is to have a home. A permanent, secure and accessible for people to visit.

LAN parties are way better than conventional parties. A clear example of how you don't need alcohol (well, maybe just a beer, but of course not as main protagonist) for having fun and hang out with new people, but instead computers and all sort of electronics surrounded by mind-like people rather than loud noise, wh*res, fights, and all sort of substances in between.
We have one and that thing is still awesome. It still works perfectly
The Texas Instruments computer was actually the most popular before the Commodore 64, that's why there are still so many of them around. It was the TI that Commodore was specifically targeting, because TI wouldn't give Commodore a big enough bulk discount on parts, so they bought up a bunch of technology companies, so they would have control over parts pricing, and dropped the Commodore 64 into the market at an unbelievable price point, and aggressively lowered the price every year, until they drove almost everyone else out of business.
Mai posteaza, ai continut super!
Salut, vreau sa restaurez un sistem bazat pe AMD 5x86 si nu gasesc pe nicaieri un mouse serial ori adaptor, pentru tastatura am gasit un adaptor... a poti ajuta?
Available for sale in Karachi Pakistan
I have a 5032. Your video made me dig it out. It has XP Tablet edition and MX linux on it. I think I might get a new battery and upgrade to a newer version of antiX.
I bought one of these new in UK in 1990 and loved it, but after 2 weeks I had a bit of a financial crisis and had to sell it. I always regretted selling and a few years ago I bought a mint one with all the SSD accessories, but the screen does exactly what yours did. I always guessed it was the cable but I just put in storage hoping to find another working one.. your video gives me the confidence to take it apart and fix it. I know it won’t feel as futuristic as it did in 1990, I know that nostalgia isn’t what it used to be.
This was my first computer when I was a kid. I had lots of fun with it. The original joysticks were really hard on the hand though. We eventually got an adapter so we could use in standard Atari/C64 joysticks.
Have 2 of them, they both work great. I'm working on one of them to upgrade it to XT-IDE 500MB CF "drive", it has already the max possible RAM, NOS plasma I found a another dead one, and also plan to install GOTEK floppy but not sure about it, as I already replaced the original 720KB with a 1.44MB more convenient to exchange files with modern machines not recognizing 3.5 DD anymore. I'm still looking for the dedicated 640x400 windows 3.1 driver, I tried the Olivetti 6300 driver the Toshiba's adapter derived from but doesn't work on Windows. I succeeded to use this 640x400 resolution on a few app such as Dr.Halo.
2:48 the joysticks were an option. They did not come with the machine.
Isn't it amazing that in the 80's they had flat panel displays that were early plasma.. so awesome.. I love those and the early LCDs too
Same here!
How many women Bill met with this ad? 😳

The shot of the internal mechanics of the VCR is really helpful when I was diagnosing issues with my recently acquired 500R that would not play tapes. The motor and tape heads were seized up (due to however long this unit sat presumably in a high moisture environment before I acquired it), and hard to move even by hand.
Excellent 🙏

Mon première ordinateur avais dit à ma Maman:" il sais tous faire ,ma Maman a demander comment elle s 'appelle "? voyant que l ordinateur ne disait rien ma Maman m'avait dit va mettre ta chambre en ordre. le texas instrument TI99/4 EXISTE ENCORE?
I have recently bought very similar comuter - Toshiba T3100/E40. Everthing worked OK, but my CMOS battery was dead. It was Inorganic SL-760 without any addtional resitors.
The battery can be replaced with a 2032 3.0V works without problem, just the battery needs to be replaced more often, at least every 2-3 years.
Extraordinar!! La mai multe, succes!!
Do you happen to have also a Toshiba T1910? I have such a laptop and I need to disassembly it as it is not starting anymore and it seems that the cause is a capacitor. Thank you!
Keeping the dream alive, superb!
Great video! Awesome machine. I see your RAM sticks have 3 chips each, I guess the last chip on each stick is for parity. There are 30pin simms without parity, you might wanna try those.
Super super super 👌👌👌❤
Man, was it powerful! 16K RAM memory ( that's right, 16K... Most computers now come with a minimum of 4 GIGABYTES of RAM.)
Dawg you’re off by a magnitude of 1000
@@glombomklibblegorf Thanks for letting me know, dawg. I corrected from MB to GB. My bad, dawg.

Veeeeeery nice! I'm happy you have given this nice radio a lift! We had one at home for years. It gaves lots of happiness.
Hi there, did the memory you add actually work? As I've read that you have to have toshiba specific ram

I have one of these. It is a pleasure to use it . I think it is a beautiful peace with it's lovely plasma screen. Mine is in a very good shape and only have a few bad sectors on the hard drive. Thanks for the maintenance video I will check the inside
My dad had one of these, spent an entire summer on shortwave, great fun. Spawned me to get a dedicated SW receiver.

CMOS battery is dead on mine but I'm glad I found this video to show me how to get it open! Really interesting the type of battery they used to use in these machines. Thank you for your video because now I can get that switched out!
I am glad that my video helped you out!
Nice. It is much more serviceable than the IBM PS/2 Modell P70 that was most probably the blueprint. I like how the Display can be moved IMO a better solution than IBM did. 😊
Beautiful unit sir! I have one similar but yours is high quality! Thank you for sharing.
Happy to share when I get my hands on "new" stuff!
I guess mister Cosby sure did like to slide his cartridge in TI's tiny slot...
I just picked up a 486-33 off ebay. Good deal and the good news was that it actually had a 116MB HD but the seller didn't know. Anyway, I was wondering how is the skin on yours. Mine (I THINK) had that rubberize paint and after all these years it's kind of sticky. Have you clean your case with anything? e.g. Isopropyl Alcohol, ??? Anyway, thanks for any advice you can give.
I don't know if you've seen it but there's a PSION MC in Die Hard 2 - I think it might be the 600, which ran MSDOS, but it's a while since I saw the movie.
I will definitely check that out! Thx!

Like, niste benchmark-uri in Quake 2, Unreal, Sin ar fi interesante.
