I’ve been following you for over a year now and the depth and complexity of your tastes translate into one of the most robust and firm collections in the hobby - you clearly don’t collect just to collect like a scatter brain and I have enhanced my collection based on your tastes and reviews alone - outstanding in every way :-)
I always look forward to your comments bud, they're such a joy to read! As you rightly figured, my purchases are well considered and I rarely buy just for the sake of 'padding out' the shelves!
@@ArchAngelManga that’s so awesome just added and finished Tsuge’s Red Flowers and picked up Message to Adolf and also the Box Man I just don’t know why more manga fans aren’t inhaling “geikega ?” Artists and titles to me they’re the most powerful and non industrial assembly like fodder formula to perpetuate sales for sales sake .
So I forgot to watch your updated gekiga/alternative manga video (sorry..), but I figured I would grab a coffee and sit down to watch your fantastic manga collection video! Dude you collection is probably one of the most diverse collections on youtube, and majority of the series you collect and read are all great! Thank you for doing what you do man, as I love seeing what you have collected over the years. Great video, cheers!
Fantastic Collection! I noted down lots of stuff that I need to check out. Really jealous of that Kaoru Mori: Anything & Something hardcover. Extremely rare and going for a lot of money.
last month i found all 7 volumes of Kazan on a used book store, but the thing is that i live in Brazil and it was that exact same version since it never got published around here. It was the equivalent of more or less 6$ for each volume
One of the best collections I've seen on UA-cam. So many alternative manga, gekiga and classics. A nice breath of fresh air from the same old shonen and seinen you see everywhere. You've got some taniguchi, samura and alt stuff (doing time, town of evening calm) that I have really been looking to pick up. Also so many great Tatsumi and Tezuka hardcovers! Man I wish. the paperbacks are nice but those look so much better. Also Thermae Romae let's go. I recently picked up book 1 used library copy for $2 at my local shop and was surprised by how much fun it is. Cant wait to get 2 and 3. I think my collection could give you a run for your money as the best on UA-cam if I ever get around to arranging it to a presentable level. I am bilingual, so I have a number of italian manga by Kazuo Kamimura, Hideshi Hino, Nishioka Kyoudai, Suehiro Maruo, Usamaru Furuya and tezuka works like Phoenix and Hidamari no Ki. Some of my favorites in English that I have that I think you'll appreciate and which I dont believe you had are 2001 nights, Hiroki Endo's Tanpenshu, Secret Comics Japan, A A' by Moto Hagio, and Sakuran by Moyoco Anno. I also have some artbooks by Taiyo Matsumoto, Jiro Taniguchi, Kazuo Kamikura and the One Piece color walk compendium which are really fantastic releases. Definitely will subscribe to catch new videos and will slowly check out some of your backlog as well. Did you see that parasyte is getting a hardcover release later this year? Also Noise by Nihei is finally coming back. Think those are two releases if you didnt already know I think you'll be excited to know about. If you like Moto Hagio you may want to try some more shojo/josei titles. I've recently started Plesse Save My Earth by Saki Hiwatari and Nana and Paradise Kiss by Ai Yazawa and am looking to read/pickup Honey and Clover, Rose of Versailles and Keiko Takemiya's work in italian The Poem of the wind and trees and To Terra since her stuff in english is OOP. I personally also enjoy Rakugo by Haruko Kumota and Ooku by Fumi Yoshinaga. It's one area I myself am also behind in. So recently I've been focusing in on. Anyways I'm rambling at this point so thanks for an interesting video in the sea of Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen collections.
Thank you so much for the insightful and detailed comment! I'll be sure to put some of your recommendations on my wishlist. I've particularly been looking at some more edgy shojo/josei series and i'm currently reading Doll, which is pretty heavy. Also with Thermae Romae, if you manage to pick up the next two volumes look out for the Tommy Lee Jones cameo lol You're also really fortunate to have manga in Italian. I was in Pisa a couple of years ao and went to a comic book shop and the manga there blew my mind: Lupin III, Tomorrow's Joe and loads of other classic series that we don;t have hesr in english! And yes, I saw the Parasyte is getting full colur/hardcover release. I'll definitely be double dipping on that! I'm also very excited about Noise as well
@@ArchAngelManga I actually went and bought most of Doll after I spotted it in your haul from a few weeks ago. Havent read it yet as I'm missing book 3 but I love android stories so it's right up my alley hopefully I can track down book 3 and get through all of em soon. Funnily enough when I was looking for Doll online I happened across a mystery/horror/sci-fi? older viz shojo called Dolls that looks pretty interesting that I also picked up. So it didnt take long for this subscription to pay off for my reading interests.
Haha great to hear. I'm just currently reading the rest of the Doll volumes I got and jeez is it disturbing. Not for the faint of heart so i'll be sure to have a lot to talk about when I discuss it in my wrap-up video at the end of the month.
A really great collection. It's fun for me to see what's available in English. Samura, Matsumoto, Koike, Ito...some good stuff. Wish more of the lesser-known mangaka were available in English though bc I'm sure you'd dig some of them the most.
@@ArchAngelManga There's a ton available, which is why my collection is all over the place. It's difficult to focus on one thing for very long bc I like reading so many genre. Not a bad problem to have though.
I got them when they were available on amazon. DMP books are solicited on amazon but they're only avaialble for a short amount of time (a few days in most cases)
I don't need to have those series to have the best collection. I also spoke about my distain for the Battle Rorale ultimate editions in the video. Theyre not worth having
@@ArchAngelManga I was just joking around, I know the title is just clickbait. You should get the single volumes though if you dislike the ultimate editions so much.
@@GrimExistance16 ah right lol. It was hard to tell. I do plan on getting rid of them at some point. But I won't rebuy them cos the singles look even worse in my opinion
@@ArchAngelManga honestly I only own the singles cause of nostalgia and I already had half of them from when I was younger so it wasn't too hard to find the other half
@@ArchAngelManga But would you say the ending specifically is like satisfying or is it more of a cliffhanger or something else? Thanks for the response btw!
Good question, but difficult to say as they're all so similar in tone. For my favourite short story it's probably Amigahara Fault and for a longer one probably Gyo

Not to worry lol, i'm not so sure I show up in people's recommendations a lot. Your feedback is so valuable! Thanks so much!
Agreed, you have hands down the best-curated manga collection on UA-cam - hope you have a great 2022, mate!
Thanks man!
Very nice collection you got there, mate. 😃
Cheers bud!

Yeah that's a shame as it's such a good little companion book to th rest of her works

Great collection indeed! Happy holidays mate 🤩

Omg never seen kingyo in any collection vid before, I only have vol 1 but thought I was the only person who knew about it

Where did you get The Day I was Forced to Marry God & The Day I Deforced God? Can’t find them anywhere :(
Nevermind got it on E Manga like it’s a whole new world over there and so much Yaoi! I am overwhelmed at the moment

Phenomenal collection. Got some great gems there that I need to pick up. :)
Thanks mate! Hope you got some ideas fr your own collection

Same!
For how much did you sell the strain volumes ?
Enough to justify getting rid of it lol
pretty bold title for someone with no complete battle royale set, no phoenix, or no mushishi

Is Sunny like a story with an actual plot and satisfying ending or is it more just following the life of orphans?
A bit of both really, but it's very satisfying to read and is very emotional
