    I usually play on concrete field as a GK and I could not really get that much distance. Does the material of the field affect the height and distance of the ball that much?

      Hey man!
      Sorry for the late response. I must have missed this comment!
      The material of the field affects the height and distance A LOT, yes. If you play on concrete, it's difficult to get on the ball, and you're stand foot is not as steady when kicking the ball...

    do you have any tips? I play as a defender and our goalie likes to play short to me or other defender... I always struggle to open the game. Any tips?

    • @GroundGloryGoalkeeping
      @GroundGloryGoalkeeping  26 днів тому

      That's a really good question!
      Is this especially from goal kicks?
      Why does he play short? Is it because his goal kicks need some work? Or is that the style your coach wants you to play?
      I can only speak from my experience as a goalkeeepes.
      But I always make sure that my defenders are in position and ready to receive the ball - unless we're behind and we're short of time. If that's the problem, then talk to your goalkeeper and tell him that he has to wait 2-3 seconds longer before he passes you the ball.
      If you're just struggling to find options, talk to your coach first. Ask him to help you.
      But when you are in position and ready to receive the ball, always scan the pitch: 1) where's the pressure coming from? 2) where are my team mates? 3) what options do I have? 4) what happens if I take an extra touch ("dribble" past the pressure), 5) is my full back open? 6) Can I pass it back to the goalkeeper? 7) is my striker in position if I decide to kick it up the field? 8) can I pass it to my number 6 (def mid)?
      These are only examples. But always try to have at least 2-3 options/solutions in your head so you can react to any pressure. It's important that you take a deep breath, shoulder down, and relax, so you can take the best decision.
      And if you're in doubt, then kick it out (or up to your striker).
      I really hope this helps 🙏

    Hi, but in matches it looks like goalkeepers dont lift their heels and cut across . I am confused

      Hey man!
      I think I understand what you mean but if I'm slightly off, please explain more carefully. But here's my answer:
      With time and training, you develop your own technique and find what works for you.
      What I'm showing you here is the basic, basic technique. If you follow the principles of this video, you have a very good starting point, and as you get better and more comfortable at kicking, you can make slight tweaks and find exactly what works for you.
      If we take me as an example: today, I don't always take 6 steps or even 2 steps to the side. Sometimes, I only take 2 or 3 steps back, and no steps to the side, and use the stab technique. That's because I'm confortable with my kicking and my goal kicks today.
      Does this make sense? Do you know what I mean? If not, please elaborate and I'll do my best to answer 🙏

      Also one doubt I have is , should hard raised bone part of foot be used or where he laces are located???

    • @GroundGloryGoalkeeping
      @GroundGloryGoalkeeping  21 день тому

      I use the big/hard bone, so it's more like a semi side-foot kick then a straight laces approach
