certainly could be a gym. for sure, the habitat looks right and appearance they look about spot on considering they are growing laterlally. The bruising if any can be hard to tell even after a few hours
Thanks for the comment! When I get a chance I am going to scope and photo the spores. I may next year send them out to a friend that can do the genetic work for me. After I keyed them last year I felt confident enough to experiment with them. They are mildly psychoactive.
While it does look like a genus of gymnopilus, it could be a gal. im worried because of the growth pattern. it seems more solitary, than cluster and gyms are known to be a cluster fungus. also the where the cap and stem meet do not look right. where the veil should be. id guess they are nice size galerinas. just my opinion.
id have to look at it up close and get the spores under a scope. i stay ib michigan. getting ready to head down to florida gulf coast for a few weeks of picking golden teachers. Be safe.
@@thequiethunt3352 Nice, I wasnt sure because only so much can be observed with a video. Glad you examined the print and positively ID the mushroom. I stay in Detroit so im not far from you. @@johnconner2026 I have yet to find any Psilocybes here in Michigan. I have found a couple species of Gymnopilus, but no spectabilis. I did live in the Pacific North West for a few years and found many Psilocybes there. What time of the year do you look for them here? And what kind of habitat?
@@thequiethunt3352 I always find them in the fall. They are growing now, but only a couple weeks left till they stop. They like woodchips, hardwood chips, and forest areas with lots of oak brush on the ground.

Alledgedly there are plenty of Gymn Luteus in se mi.. very easy to find and ID(intense anise smell) Have alledgedly found atleast one other active gymn abundant. But hard to ID somewhere between luteofolius and aeruginosus. Michigan is low key a perfect Gymnopilus environment

The Slow Hunt galerina autumn. Species has same sport print color as gyms the difference is if it has the hole in print or not you won't be able to tell by color, rather u can tell with magnify glass on shape of spore OR how the spores fall. Those look scary close to gal autumn bro

benja mena drying them out first is the best way to do it but you can literally just pick em and eat em, making them into a tea is pointless, if you really can't bare the taste dry em out, grind em up into powder, then put em into empty capsules, good way of getting a high dose in a short period and you don't have to deal with the taste
Beg to differ. I know first hand that they are. Not as strong as other psychoactives but psychoactive nonetheless. The sensation reminds me of kava root a very relaxing body experience with no visuals. Thanks for the comment.
Beautiful. I’m on the other side of the pond looking for them!! (The cheese place)

shouldn't there be a ring on the stipe????
No, thats a different species of gyms.
Do you find any ps.ovoids or ps.caerulipes in that flood plain area? These are definitely the rusty gym.
I have not found them here in Michigan yet. Do you find the gyms in the same habitats as the ps species?

Is it the same procedure with the psilocybe family for example? How long does the drying last? Ty!
If it's not brusing green it's not the pyhcadelic variety
Wrong, and they will blue as juveniles
very wrong in most cases these do not bruise. only in the younger ones and its blue and very little.
Not helpful adding to confusion

I stand corrected, I completely forgot that this species contains kavalactones...
Are you aware of the dosing per weight?
No I am not. Do you have suggestions or research I can consult? I would like to experiment a little further.
