I love mushroom hunting
Something is magic
And your video makes that you feel like you touch them and even feel the fresh texture
The breese through the trees
It seems some of you believed the white mushrooms appeared on 2:14 are angle wings. I was thinking the same but after learning that angle wings grow only on conifers, and those speicimens was found on a deciduous log, I think they are a type of oyster mushroom. Since I don't have any kidney or liver problem, I tasted some out of curiosity (and people with such problems should not risk consuming anything resembles angle wings) They indeed tasted a bit different from the common brown oyster (not as fishy as some) and were less meaty. I ate all mushrooms I marked edible on this channel and am continuing to explore more edibles. Most of the time I am 100% sure of what I eat, or, I make sure the lookalike are not poisonous to me, like in this case. That said, do not imitate me and use these videos as field guides, and I cannot be responsible for any possible consequence. Please note that there are always some potential risk involved even when the mushrooms are considered edible by all. Both my wife and I got diarrhea after consuming large quantity of Suillus Granulatus(picked on different spots and ate on separate days in different dishes). I didn't see many people discussing this specific reaction at all but that was what happened to us.
Old Man of the Woods
Angel wings have white tops, those have a shade of brown on them so I guess if you look close enough it's obvious
Hey I found some mushrooms in my yard today, I've uploaded a short clip showing them. Could you please watch it and tell me what kind of mushroom it is?
7you missed out like 10 mushrooms. tbh i havent seen any of these in poland of england, these arent very good though.
This is the most informative info I’ve seen on mushrooms! Great job, I subscribed! 😊👍
I enjoy the voiceover! Keep up the good work
Very cool video. I live in the Pacific northwest so we're blessed during the season to have quite a bounty of edibles. Quite a few of these are a bit different than the ones up this way. It is interesting indeed.
Thanks! I always want to forage on the west coast to see more species
Thankyou Very much for educating us on which ones are good to eat. Cheers. :)
Thanks for the video. I can't wait to have some time to go look for some of these. The Turkey Tail is my main quest for it's anti-cancer properties. God put a lot of good things in the woods.
This video makes me hungry.
I’ve tried the puffball and love it I’m sure the rest would be delicious too.
Thank you for the video. ❤️
Check out @mycojims on Instagram to get some mushrooms, dmt, one up candy bar and others.
Very pleasing video thank you so much for all you mushroom lovers out there eat your heart out
This was an excellent video! One of the most informative of some of the most common and not so common edibles. Really well done! 🙏 Thank you 😊
I bought some psychedelic product from a drugstore online they're very reliable ship discreet 🙏
So informative, great video!
Wow, I've never eaten anything other than morels but these look dang yummy. If I knew someone who knew how to identify and prepare them with absolute confidence, I'd sure like to try them. (Well, the good/choice ones anyway lol). Thanks for the vid! You must live somewhere with a lot of mushrooms.
Excellent video for a more experienced mushroom hunter.
After decades of Learning, I have a much greater appreciation for visual attributes I once thought ‘they all possessed’ - all but the flamboyance of say the chicken of the woods or the giant puffball. To some eyes that Ceasar looks like a lot of others.
'old man of the woods' are very yummy, 😋 n they have delight scent like Shiitake mushrooms for the couple of hours when they just got pickup.
I subbed after watching just this vid, its quite good, honestly I see more potential from this little video than real info I got, you clearly have access to nice woods and some nice footage, you seem pretty knowledgeable.
I think if you feel like putting in the work to upload good content regularly that this could be a good channel.
Ill check out the rest of your vids soon, thanks, good luck.
Old Man of the Woods I actually did go ahead and watch several of your vids last night... Pretty impressive really.
As I suspected, you are indeed knowledgeable on the subject. The videos I watched were fun... I loved the ones were you actively find mushrooms while filming, like in the blewitt vid I watched.
In that video you imparted a lot of knowledge as well.
They don't seem to scripted, which is a plus, the editing is good, not too flashy.
And you're clearly a real nature lover.
I'd happily watch many more of your videos.
Thanks for the content!
I'm counting the days myself... A month til we will start getting warmish winter days to scout the woods...maybe 2 more months til morels...
CANT WAIT!
Me too. Plan to be out for some wood ears during the weekend and looking forward to morels, wild leeks, Dryad’s saddles and wine caps in March and April
Old Man of the Woods where do you live?
Its beautiful woods, lovely diversity!
It makes me a bit green with envy.
I have access to nice woods myself, but they're all small pockets of wood, not really very diverse, but I'm lucky to even found access to any decent woods at all!
Central Kentucky is surprisingly sterile... Just a desert of grass... Very few homes for wild life and nothing more than tree lines in fences... Nothing resembling a true forest floor environment for miles...
For that matter in lucky to have ever learned to forage at all around... I've yet to find anyone to even hunt morels with me... At my spots ... Much less some one that can actually teach me.
Thank god for the internet... I'd have never learned a thing without it.
Thanks for the vids and response.
I'm in the greater dc area. I do have access to nice woods but other mushroom hunters are eyeing there too so it was not alway productive. oftentimes I forage in quite small woods nearby, and I've found decent mushrooms under parking lot trees. I guess I just like to look around and mother nature always surprises me.
Thanks for the video it’s helpful❤❤❤
Hellgrammites or dragonfly larvae are great bait . I used to catch them and sell them to a bait shop or use them for small mouth bass fishing ...
yeah, I know they are great bait. I should have brought my fishing rods that day..
Nice bonus footages, tx!
Thank you for your sharing!
这视频做得非常好,简单明了一目了然!
Beautiful!
Nice video! I'm just getting into the hobby. You've got a sub
Great video, 🍄😍
Nice video man. Love wild mushroom hunting and photos. Very interesting.
Dope video much love
Thanks for sharing. I pick Alots of muschroom
Mushroom hunter here, first time 3 yrs old. Just found your channel after a huge loot in Mt. Pollino, Italy (7kg boletus, various species and about 2 kg of a poutpourri of Russula Cyanoxantha, Clitocybe Gibba and Hydnum Repandum) . Subscribed after 2 videos, you're a professional dude!
I bought some psychedelic product from a drugstore online they're very reliable ship discreet 🙏

I learned That
The magic Mushrooms are not any that he showed in the viedo.
If i eat any of those you showed in the viedo.

Fucken American stylish white boys and girls
今天我去小树林采蘑菇,也看到小鹿了😄!!
off topic...cool shot of the hellgramite
I have all kinds of fungi and mushrooms growing in my yard after I had a maple and cotton wood tree cut back. I haven't got rid of all the logs that seems to be where its growing.
excellent....
Would like assistance identifying fungi.
Mushroom round and conic, dark brownish on top, grayish towards the bottom of the cap. White gills underneath, stem is grayish with dark striations, looks similar to a trees bark. Stem is solid and white. Found on pine needle duff
The guitar music is awesome!
The cauliflower mushroom looks like a berkleys polypore almost
Very nice sharing.
Greetings
Reasonably good video, I wish you’d have started with telling us about the location of this wood or forest, then talk and explain what info you have with each mushroom you showed from the start of the video to the end. Nevertheless thank you 🙏
It's not in the southern US I'm pretty sure. Not nearly enough under growth.
I have tried most of these. My absolute favorite is the black trumpets. I make a pasta dish with them that is amazing. Those last ones I am scared to try. Amanita mushrooms scare me, since some like destroying angel, are deadly.
The selphys shelf (the first omes) looked like Jack Ola terns
Cool video
Thank you
I enjoy mushrooms
Take my sweet time picking have to be carefull not to get old or turning. Not sure if every trust mushrooms. For me i think they rush package them in the story.
It would be informative if you would tell us what type of tree you find the mushrooms on.
Thank You
Very helpful information new friend here watching and sending hugs and support let's get connected see you around
I found a shaggy parasol the other day! I made a spore print of it. Didn’t know it was edible until now.
great...............
What is the differance between choice edible, edible and safely eat it?
I found a young specimen of the Old Man of the Woods the other day and ate it, but I do not feel the need to eat one again, LOL. It was kinda "earthy" and probably the only mushroom I've had so far that I did not like. It was a very exciting find, though. I always wanted to find one, just because of you. :)
@@OldManoftheWoods It is very pretty! I like it too. I just don't want to eat it anymore. 😋
I didn't see him eat any. You ain't gone fool me.
How do you know he is qualified to know which ones are safe!?? Simples.
Love this video. So important we start the process of education in mushroom identification- instead of continuing with this petrified silence 😛.
Which are your two favourite of these to eat??
THank you so much Stephen. I would say Lion's manes for its rarity and chanterelles for its versatility. It's chanterelle season now and Lion's mane is coming soon. happy foraging!
Wow, where should we look for ganba fungus? Can we find it North east America? Thank you very much
Sir can u help me identify a mushroom it's in my latest video uploaded
A little breack to take a stone and give a sharp to your knive if it refuses to cut mushroom
Hi, what is the difference between edible, choice edible and good edible?
Yeah, it is kinda confusing. Choice edible would be a mushroom that you would CHOOSE to eat before all other edibles. So choice edibles are the most prized mushrooms. And the difference between the good edible and just edible mushroom is relative, some people consider certain choice edibles to be average at best while they could consider a very unpopular edible mushroom to be very delicious.
For some reason, I don't have any education on mushrooms besides videos, and I somehow identified quite a few of these.
U should get a field guide if you don't already have one. It gives you a picture of the mushroom, the color of its spores, the way they bruise (when it matters at least), the gill pattern, and even random things like if it has a universal veil or a film on the cap, or maybe the mushroom is slimy or some shit idk. Useful information so you don't die from eating the wrong amanita mushroom
@@Chimera6297 ah, thanks for advice. My friend found any amanita that I saw everything matching with Amanita Jaksoni, didn't eat it though.
Nice vedio
When you mushroom hunt do you run into liberty caps or any other magic mushroom?
The Old Man if the Woods, looks like Deadly Dapperling here.
Not all mushrooms that look like American mushrooms are edible in other countries. This is true
Can I take a walk with you in the woods next time
Thank you 😊
I bought some psychedelic product from a drugstore online they're very reliable ship discreet...
It would be nice if you told where AND the time of year these shrooms are found. Need more info.
They were found in late-summer through fall in the greater DC area, mainly MD.
I'm in the uk I get wild mushrooms growing in my garden they dot a massive head like space ships are they poison please cheers
You gotta research first don't just take them. I got good recommendations from @mycojims on IG
Can anyone tell me do all these grow in Virgina? I'm new to this but I'm desperately trying to learn without hurting myself so is anyone willing to give me some pointers please
Yeah, they all grow in Pennsylvania and I am sure they are in your area too. Make sure you learn everything you can about identifying the toxic mushrooms in your area(usually a much shorter list than all the edible ones) and try to start your collecting with hard to mis-identify species like chicken of the woods or hen of the woods.
I would also recommend looking into local clubs, sometimes they have woods walks to teach people how to identify what is in a particular area.
Also, please be mindful of private property. I simply ask permission if I see an area that looks interesting and I don't think I have been told no yet.
What's the difference between the sulphur shell and the chicken of the woods? I thought they were the same
Sulphur is the "yellow" chicken of the woods with yellow-orangish flesh and pore surface. Cincinnatus, the "white" chicken of the woods, has whitish flesh and pore surface. They taste the same but have slightly different textures.
I like your name and mushrooms
Is in these some are not poisonous?
2:18 looks like P porrigeans not an oyster mushroom but it can be deadly for old aged people!!
I would love to have a walk with you in mine or you're area .love the wild food life.I am a chef at a very prominent farm to table restaurant.give me a shout I would love to share

What is the difference between Edible, Choice edible, and Good edible?
In Poland, old man of the woods is either classified as low-quality edible or inedible
❤️🙏
So can you just go pick em up and eat them from the ground? Or must they be prepared.
Technically there are some that you can eat raw but it is not recommended for virtually any wild mushrooms.
😁
Can these be frozen, or used soon?
1:36 that kinda looks like the mushroom that "tastes like chicken" which I learned is a substitute for meat
Old Man of the Woods I take it that taste like chicken also? I am more familiar with "chicken of The Woods" you showed later in the video. We had some BIG blooms here last year.
It is enteresting to know bout mushrooms,. I have found mushrooms in my bamboo tress
Bamboo leaves are plenty and it's rainy season in my place iwas surprpln of mushroom tea under bamboo trees! I'm not sure if can be eaten or not ? I luv to eat mushrooms from banana plants natural grown ! And this not famili r
Turkey tail kinaksin po yan sa amin
Jacksonii are delicious I've found them a Ganoderma species turkey tail and really can't wait till I find miatake and chicken of the woods or any of the hericium genius

@@louistomlinson6427 it's much easier to just grow psilocybe mushrooms my guy they are easier to grow than you'd think plus you have a almost unlimited access of magic shrooms in the closet I grow the strongest mushrooms you can get I wouldn't dream of tripping off someone's shrooms when mine are top shelf
Finily I found it shaggy mushroom oh god I fount that mushroom a lot if them
There are thousands kinds, how can we tell which is edible?
A good field guide, time, and patience. You can speed it up by finding a mentor to show you what comes up, where and when.
3:31 another name for this is chicken of the woods
The "old man look alike" is an old man that has been parasitized by Hypomyces chrysospermus, also called "the bolete eater".
Wow, mystery solved. thanks for pointing this out, Liam. Glad I include this the footage in the video.
I've seen the same parasite attack many other boletes as well, especially edible species. Boletus badius, and Boletus edulis grp. are two that I find frequently parasitized.
What does "choice edible" mean?and "good edible"?
amanda schilling mushrooms are either Choice edible, inedible, or poisonous.
Good edible taste good. Choice edible is for survival when there is nothing to eat n u still alive
@@vynguyen6376 Seems like it's the opposite actually. "choice edible" seems to just mean "very good edible", which is really confusing but yeah.
We don't find anything like that kind of mashroom here in the north part of India.
Not me my friend!!! Takes years of practice if you make it after the first few
I wonder who the first test subject was who had to eat the mushrooms to determine which ones were poison? lol
Some of these mushrooms even it's edible, it will not taste any good
Those oysters look more like Angle wings
well old man in the woods looks incredibly like panther amanita (Amanita pantherina) which grown in the uk A LOT and is deadly ... soooo beware ! be very very cautious when picking those
Panthers have gills, old man of the woods is a bolete(pores on the spore surface)
I've spend a long time studying how to grow mushrooms and found an awesome website at gregs mushroom grower (check it out on google)
