SINCE I WAS N TEENS WEN MOTOWNS ONE AFTER ANOTHER GREAT GROUPS CAME OUT, I WAS ALSO A BAKERSFIELD COTTON FIELDS HILLBILLY!! BUT, WEN JANIS CAME ON SCENE SHE WAS SOOO DIFFERENT, SO FAR ABOVE OTHER TOP ROCK N ROLE EXCEPTED MUSIC THAT SHE TOOK ALOT OF HEAT & SOME TERRIBLE MEDIA OPINIONS ABOUT HER!!! SHE WAS AN INNOCENT, GENUINE, LOST SOUL! SINCE IT WAS EARLY 60'S WEN SHE GOT ATTENTION, I JUST FEEL LIK NOW..SHE WAS BORN N THE WRONG TIME!! BUT, EVEN N HER FEW SHORT YEARS, SHE WAS JUST MESMERIZING!! VOICE, TRUE EMOTION, & PERFORMANCE!! NO ONE LIK HER! YET THE BEATTLES, ROLLING STONES, & ALL THAT CRAP GOT ALL THE RAVE MEDIA ATTENTION!! THAT'S SHOWBIZ!! BAK THEN! FIT THEIR MOLD!! BUT, JANIS DIDNT/WOULDN'T! MY OPINION!!
Thank you for reacting to this. I have found this is probably the most emotional song and performance of Janis Joplins. She led a life of pain and rejection and you can hear it in this song as she begs the Lord to fill her heart with somethings she’s never had.😞
Yes! Every time i listen to this performance I block out all other distractions and hook it up to a speaker for better volume. Her emotions are so tangible and I have such a raw experience of what she’s been through. She’s unbelievably talented, most soul in one song ever
She's probably my all-time favorite. In my opinion, there are singers and there are vocalists. Anyone can be a singer with help from professional trainers and mic control, but only a special few can be vocalists who have 100% complete control of their voices with no professional training, and Janis is a vocalist. To me, she's THE vocalist lol
So true. I've told my wife a thousand times after watching a perfect vocal performance on American Idol, and I turned to her and said, that person hasn't ever lived that song. Janis left no doubt ever, that she lived what she sang.
I heard she hated her Woodstock performance of this song, but her emotional and spiritual rawness in that performance sucked me right in. I love both, but her Woodstock performance made me cry. She let the audience into her torment. I hate that she was in pain, but what a gift to be able to transmit that vocally and form such a powerful connection.
She was always in emotional pain and it came through her with that voice she made you feel what she was feeling! RIP Janis Joplin ❤ great reaction always
This has brought me tears! I remember the day it hit….Janis is gone. Her pain was so real and sadly I don’t think she realized how very much she was loved. Thinking of her alone in that room 😢
I love her lives, but the studio version of this song is what made me fall in love with her and she became my kindred spirit bc this has been my lifes theme song for the last 25yrs
You Gentlemen are outstanding! Thank you so much for delving into so pure, and classic music from the past. It was epic musical times back in that long ago day.
Unmatched in the modern era of rock, others come close and you mentioned Beth Hart, but no can match her. Plus her band was always great, those horns. You are right about the mic dynamics and this was flawless. Continue to enjoy your reactions. I hope you both had a great Christmas.
Yup! This is the one! This is great! I've been listening to Janis all day and was just listening to Call on Me when I figured I'd check to see if anyone had done any Janis reactions in the last few days. How pleasantly surprised! Thank you!
You guys MUST react to Janis live on the Tom Jones show doing "Raise Your Hands". Its a duet with Tom and its an absolute CLASSIC!!! Also please react to her cover of the BG's "To Love Somebody" live on the Dick Cavett show....absolutely amazing!!!
The other thing about Janis , she drank, smoked cigs & reef, among other things all the time, her voice would’ve never lasted, but I wonder what her vocals could’ve been had she not burned the candle at every end all the time. Maybe no different, but maybe the all time great.
Turtle Blues is probably as close to being a biopic as anything she does. Its done in classic Speakeasy style replete with the background sounds of some gin joint.
@@jnagarya519 I agree. Janis really was one of a kind, unfortunately I was born to late to see her live. I grew up listening to my brother and sister's music - they're 12 and 10 years older than me. My brother a hippie, my sister a mod. I found my own scene but in my opinion nothing compares to the 60s artists.
Janis Joplin tuvo la mala suerte de nacer en un país anglosajón con una gente llena de odio y prejuicios. Si hubiera sido Francesa, italiana, griega, portuguesa o española la habríamos adorado como el ángel que era y será para toda la eternidad
Thank you for revisiting this. One of my all time favorites
Gentlemen, take it from an old Hippy . The beauty of Rock and Roll is in it's inherent imperfection. Sing, or play from the Soul and rules be damned.
Yes indeed!

Still functioning within the unavoidable rules beginning with the scale itself.

Great Reaction 👍🙏
Janis….BADASS!!!! We still ❤ you!!!!
The Best soul singer ever!!
Janis was an absolute force of nature. A raw, rough around the edges, soulful powerhouse! Legendary! So few artists move me as deeply as Janis does...
I can't listen to this song without tearing up every time.
Janis is one of a kind, love her. Great reaction fellas ✌️
She was captivating and left this World at such a young age.I know few if any that pour their heart out in a song as she.
Andd this Was Live ...Whoa :)
That ending made my goosebumps hurt
This is soooou good
THE VERY BEST BLUES SINGER EVER!!!!!!!
This is my favvorite J Joplin song!--I know who cares--but yes y'all have good taste in choosing songs to react to!
Janis just took us to church
I LOVE YOU JANIS !
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joplin! Two of my favorites!
Such an insanely raw emotion mixed with that lyric… that’s touching deep 🫶
That right there is God showing off.

Wonderful Janis. I’ll always love that woman!
Thanks for bringing JJ. My time. Rent Woodstock it was a 3day event.
Kris Kristopherson. Nice.
Thanks guys! Great reaction! JJ was one of a kind. Check out Janis Joplin TRY (Just a little bit harder) live on the Dick Cavett show. Another gem!!

She carried her pain and shared it with the world till it ultimately ended her life. Just heartbreaking 💔
Loved her, I'm proud to say we both share the same home town.
🇺🇸 Yes !!! This was definitely THE ONE !! 👩🏻🦰 🎤🔥🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Portland Oregon USA 🇺🇸
Goosebumps!

I love your appreciation for all music…good music…talent. Janice was different and a unicorn. So special. Thank you!

I thank u from my heart for playing this song, the other LITLE GIRL BLUE, PLAY IT PLEASE, angel hugs 💜💜💜 ty from a true hippie

She was pretty high at the Woodstock performance
Yup! This is the one!

Thanks, that was a nice find! Janis just wails on this one and her intonation was straight up perfect at the end. Really cool.
Janis was a HUGE fan of Bessie Smith, Big Mama Thorton and of course, Billie Holiday.

YAASSS THIS THE ONE 😊🎧💯
DAM !!!
❤️❤️❤️
To me she does to a microphone what Stevie Ray does to a guitar bcuz they become one in a unique way!
💙💙💙

The gospel according to Janis .....
Turtle Blues is probably as close to being a biopic as anything she does. Its done in classic Speakeasy style replete with the background sounds of some gin joint.
Janis bared her naked unrequited soul for anyone to hear. None before or after.
Look up her "Dick Cavett Show" performances during which she actually shows DISCIPLINE.
The best singuer femeale artist haver 😂❤
Allman Brothers Band, "Hot Lanta", instrumental or "Stormy Monday", Live at the Fillmore East
Inigualable!!!!?!!!!!!!!
She had the best bands! The closest thing to an inner ear monitor was one's finger! I am going to make a suggestion for anything by Beth Hart, live.
Please listen to Me and Bobby Magee.
The problem with the Cosmic Blues Band is that she had to compete with the horn section each song, each show. Hard fete to do.
Little girl from Texas can bring it
Would’ve been nice if Janis could’ve done a duet with Robert Plant
Five words.... Are you freakin kidding me?
Was it Woodstock -- or the Canadian tour?
This is the Stockholm performance ❤
@@dellafenton2417 I figured that out.
It is not as good as her performances on "Dick Cavett," where she showed actual discipline.
Little Girl Blue on The Tom Jones show reduces me to tears every time....
@@dellafenton2417 Another performance with discipline. Her "Kozmic Blues" LP is her best.

She Proved Heroin wasn"t good for one!
I just subscribed ,you guys have been great but the condition of staying is you need to do beth hart (am I the one ) live at paradiso
The female Otis Redding
I hear Ariana Grande has a nice voice😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I've never gotten any emotional response from listening to Janis. I listen to music to feel something. I just don't with her. I wish I did.
