Love the mobility to crop in, but not so much the file sizes…
8K, of course, already exists, but 4K is still coming in for a very long time, I think in 2-3 years cameras with 8K 24-120 frames per second will be available en masse! You can conveniently cut and make 4K

Very interesting and informative video! I think 8K will be great in terms of cropping that can be done. But, as you say storage space will be a problem and computing power as well?
Looks like a perfect camera. My only problem is I'm already having storage issues with 4K. So until storage comes down it seems kind of pointless for me first thing because I archive everything I shoot for future documentaries. But that does look dreamy! I almost want to get it just to shoot in 4K. I just bought the DJI Ronan S3 for my FX30 and I'm thinking about it getting the FX3. I would hate to end up spending the same amount of money as this thing cost in the end. But can't have everything I guess
It's a great option for professionals. Footage looks awesome. In my case, I still have issues with 4K on my older laptop 🤣 so it is not the case until I will buy new one.

Just want to add here, on the Nikon Z9 and Z8 the Nikon NRAW videos for 8k are almost half the size of pro-res raw. Plus on the Z9 you can do 8k in lower res formats too.
Is there really no 8k camera that works for youtube for filming in the woods? That doesn't cost a lot? And does it get that much better?

File size wise ... I don't think it's needed for the regular user at this time. Quality wise . It's amazing to be able to have this extra real estate to work with. in a few years 6k is gonna be the next norm while people shoot in 8k or 12k on a regular basis. Just like these days we shoot 4k to work with social media res 1080p . Another great Video. You are appreciated Peter. Aloha

8K is crazy, and think about it... in a while 8K will be standard, like FULL HD and 4K did. But, its probably not as good as it can be when watching it on youtube? Have you looked on the image on an 8K monitor? But zooming in showes the crazy resolution in aan 8K image 😅 Nice vid!

Do you have to calibrate your sony lens everytime to work with lidar? Idk if I get the DL 17-28 from dji or a 16-35 g master from sony... I like the sony better unless the dl lens are much easier to set up.
I think you have to yeah.
You do not need to. Even with third party lenses, like Tamron etc. Just watch out for total weight and it's impact on performance on that 16-35

Also, regarding 8K. 8K TVs aren't selling... So if you use 8K, it's more for cropping in.

This ist so funny! When UA-camrs review new Sony cameras they always say - "You don't need 8K". But few months later everyone has suddenly changed mind when reviewing this new sensor

People seem to be falling over themselves to hype this camera. Like every article I've read is just shilling so hard with no actual objective reasoning other than it has a gimbal built into it, it's 8k and it's going to seriously threaten all the other mainline cinema cameras brands.
Also 6k is plenty. People are watching videos vertically on their phones most of the time.
Data storage ain't cheap.
Black magic already has a post raw correction for iso and wb etc at a third of the price

Yes, it is. Tech is furthering and phones will eventually move to 4k as sony already has and still has amazing battery life. Screens will get bigger, resolution is need for post processing and reframing, etc.
Oh, excuse us mortals who don't have a microscope in the eye and can see the difference between 1440p and 2560p on a screen 7inch long, and can't do the difference between a 10 micron large pixel and a 8 micro large pixel, what we need is better quality, not ultra high resolution, 4k isn't 4x has good has 1080p, has long has it is retina, it is enought, you aren't pressing your head on your phone screen to count the pixels are you ? That's why a lot of phones with 4k screens ship with 1080/1440p (software) resolution, bigger isn't better dingus
Just go check the arri cameras used in all big budget films, and you will see they don't use a 16k sensor
To be exact, their top of the line Alex 35, has a 4.6k sensor, so if Hollywood and Netflix can easily work with that, 8k really isn't useful
@@AymericPachod that’s arguable, some DPs prefer the Sony Venice II, which is 8k and it has been used a lot more frequently these days

im recording now in 64k .. we are a little bit ahead at the NASA base.. its nice to soom in on there dead skincells.. and wich dna is on your shirt..
At the moment, when creating materials for the Internet, I believe that 8K is definitely too much. Few people use displays that provide full 8K satisfaction.
Not to mention that a lot of this content is consumed on phones and tablets, where 4K is already too much.
And the cinema?? well, cinema still applies filters that "spoil" the image so that we don't feel this digitization.
