This is genuinely amazing. You started with a block of wood and some stands and turned it into an awesome looking stand
Looking forward to finally see the Yamato on it!!
Tip: If you want to keep the wood base from warping over time, equally stain and varnish both the top and the bottom.
Wise words.
I'll keep that in mind when I work on the stand for my next model. Thank you!
The small imperfections make it very „lifely“, like something that has already seen some things in its „history“
yeah thats pretty "true"
*Metal, wood, plastic; nothing can stand the hands of PLASMO! Great display!*
The base looks great; now for the ship.👍👌😁
The inconsistent bevel to the base adds to the charm. Excellent!!
When I do my ships, I like to put them on a wooden base that is relevant to the model. I have a Japanese submarine that I put on a Cherrywood base because Cherry blossom is Japan's national flower.
Wow. Just two days ago I finished my 1/700 Yamato (with Flyhawk PE etc.)
Thanks for getting me into ships with your Bismarck video!
Spectacular Display Stand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Z vlastnej skusenosti mozem odporucit tixotropný lak. Inak skvela praca!
Everything he touches turns into gold. I wish I had half of his talent.
Looks great and only with basic hand tools ! You have a special gift with your hands for sure ! Can't wait for the battleship build !
The base turned out nice.
You are a real artist, David. I’m looking forward to seeing the ship, too.
The man even knows how to work with wood, Bravo, it does really look great.
A cool looking display stand makes a big difference to displaying your pride and joy 😎🤙
Well done! This is what hands grow from the right place!
Brilliant idea. Thank you for sharing
Looks great, will compliment the finished model perfectly.
I'm about to embark on my first ship build and I was wondering how to go about building a display stand. Question answered! Thanks!
I have an unfinished 1/350 yamato, and this gave me an inspiration. Thanks
Nicely done. The completed model on that display will be fantastic.
I would no longer be surprised to learn you planned ahead and grew a tree 😃 amazing craft as always
I knew it! :D
Can't wait for the model video.
Nice work! I love that you used modeling products and techniques on a wood base.
It turned out to be a great stand. Получилась отличная подставка.
Dude just incredible, I love your tutorials. Itll help me step up my modeling once I begin to do war models. Very excited to build my 1/48 longbow apache and make a stand for it out of wood. Thanks dude.
I make wooden bases (and display cases) for my wooden ships.
For a first time base this is very good.
Two tips:
1. The sanding of the top should be done with a flat block so as to not sand away the stain colour from the edges.
2. Protect the brass now so it does not tarnish over time.
I really, really hope that someday we will see a sailing vessel on this channel. Good plastic kits a rare, but there are a few and they make absolutely stunning models, much more interesting than any other type of model in my opinion. Plus I would love to see all that oil paint magic working towards cool wood finishes.
Dude you could put out a video of you taking your trash out and I would like and watch it many times. Great stuff my friend
Thanks David. Looking forward to seeing it all come together. 👍
Not gonna lie, I was expecting a stand for the SPACE Battleship Yamato...
Me too
HAHA .. I did too .. Was about to look up Plasmo and space battle ship Yamato to see the build :)
same here!
Beautiful
Great music in your videos. I like it.
That's why it has been some time in between video's, you are building Yamato. Can't wait for the video, love your attention to detail, customization, and the quality of your video's. Good show old boy! ;-)
I always get a thrill when he refers to me as a fellow modeler. No really, this guy is a wizard.
My favourite ship!!! This will be awesome
The reason your finish had brush strokes in it is bc you're using a synthetic brush, which is the worst thing to use with oil varnish or paint for woodworking.
Oil Finishes need brushes with Natural Hair or China bristle. These work best bc they have no "backbone" when wet so it allows the finish to flow and self level.
I was already looking forward to 1/350 scale. This looks like a smoller piece.
Thanks, you helped me with the idea of using a sander to make the base edge for the model.
Your videos are always very enjoyable to watch-Thank You Very Much, well done ✅👍
Beautiful work, as usual. The only bit of advice I could add is to use a sealer on the wood before staining, as unsealed wood tends to absorb stain unevenly.
Bonjour
J'aime beaucoup votre sens du perfectionnement, bravo😊💙
I am so excited for this build!
Awesome beautiful work.
Remarkable work!
Fantastic workmanship my friend 🥇👏😍
Very nice....a trick I saw online is using super glue after wood stain to close the pores and than you can easily polish it without using varnish
Its fairly simple to make a base in fairness. Lovely finish all the same.
Great job.
Plasmo never disappoints.

ciao David, hai fatto un buon lavoro ma quando si parla di legno posso darti un suggerimento o due: quando usi vernici trasparenti dopo aver spennellato il legno ripassalo con uno straccio per uniformare lo strato della vernice, non toglierai la parte già assorbita ma renderai piu uniforme il tutto;
Hi David, you did a good job but when it comes to wood I can give you a suggestion or two: when you use clear varnishes after brushing the wood, go over it with a rag to even out the paint layer, you will not remove the part already absorbed but you will make more uniform the whole;
then when you pass the polish it is better that between one coat and the other you use the fine sandpaper because especially with water-based paints the wood raises the "hair" those small parts of fiber not perfectly attached to the surface after a sanding.
Nicely done! Can't wait to see the finished model. Should go nicely with your Roma and Bismarck kits, it'd be neat to see them all side by side. I hope you keep up the occasional work on battleships, I'd love to see you do some of the allied ones.
Maybe next time glue a couple of strong earth magnets in the pedestal and also onto the inside of the hull and you could always easily remove the ship without disturbing the integrity of the hull. You could actually attach many models to a terrain or base this way.
Wooohoooo!! We get a Yamato video!!!
can't wait for the Yamato video
Damn this is only a base... I can only imagine how good finished ship will be!
Cant wait for the ship...
great work as usual
i had no idea how much i needed this video untill i saw it! dear lord thank you dude!
Oh the joy that I had when I saw a bonus vid :D
Awesome
Very nice display. Try 000 or 0000 fine steel wool with a wood wax. It will also help polish out imperfections.
Quick tip on finishing wood: lightly sand with fine paper between coats, and always use a sanding block.
I like using lemon oil and steel wool. Leaves a really nice shine and durable finish.
Great advice. I always sand between coats. Works every time.
perfect work!
I felt like I just learned something after watching this.
Because you did.
Lovely!
Nice vid, nice stand !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 👍👍👍

Great idea!
If you're looking for a great single coat wood/furniture finish, look into Monocoat.
The entire base is great, but that nameplate is frakking awesome. Absolutely looks like it was cast out of bronze.
I'm super excited! :D
i have no fucking clue about modeling but i love your videos!
It's time to take a stand!
As you always say: lovely!
Once again great work!
No, no, no. The video is over already? I need moreeee 🥺.btw great vids
The man got skills :)
For Yamato 1:700? Good Job!!
I like Ships too 😉
Good done! Simple, but looks nice! ;) All the best for You! ;)
I loved how you worked the wood with a dremel and how you polished it.
I think an adhesive brass nameplate with black laquer inlay stuck onto the top/front surface would have looked a lot better though. The one you made was too big for the scale and didn't look quite right. Just my personal opinion.
Ohhh yes I cant wait to see the Ymato,... but now I really wish for an Ymato 2199 Version as well, maybe in the Future....
That is some shiny wood.
Protip: white toothpaste is excellent polishing compound.
I finally know what he is doing in his videos. Well this one at least
*Remembering Bismarck video*
Ahh Shiit Here we go again
美しい!!!☺
if you need polishing you can use musical instrument polishing paste
super Davide, like
OMG YOUR BUILDING YAMATO SOON!!!! :)
Speaking of wood, would be nice to see how far you can take the Plasmo Magic on Balsa and Tissue Models ! ! !
