In this video we teach you how to install the Simplisafe Video Doorbell Pro. The Simplisafe video doorbell is a wifi video doorbell that allows you to remotely view streaming or recorded footage from your video doorbell on your phone. It also allows 2 way communication so that you can talk to whomever is at your front door.
The Simplisafe Doorbell has 1080HD footage and has both day and night vision. It requires 8-24V AC for power which most existing doorbell transformers will provide.
To Install The Simplisafe Doorbell
1. Turn off the power to your existing doorbell at the circuit breaker.
2. Confirm the power is off to your existing doorbell wiring and remove the existing doorbell.
3. With the existing doorbell remove you can install the new simplisafe doorbell. Route the wires through the center plate and attach the centerplate using the provided screws to the wall.
4. Insert the doorbell wires into the provided terminals make sure not to interfere with the contacts above the left terminal.
5. Install the simplisafe video doorbell on to the simplisafe base plate by sliding it into place on top of baseplate.
6. Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. It may take 2-3 minutes for the device to power up once the power has been restored. When the device is ready for set up the lights at the button will come on and the device will speak to you saying that it's in setup mode.
7. Download the Simplisafe app, set up an account and follow the instructions to set up the Simplisafe Doorbell on the Simplisafe App.
* Note if you are having issues getting your Simplisafe Doorbell connected make sure that you are connecting it to your 2.4GHZ wifi network to get it set up. Sometimes this means you will need to temporarily disable your 5GHZ network to get your Simplisafe doorbell set up.

It's been 2 years however it's still helping, for me it's the part you mentioned two minutes waiting... thanks
This was very useful. I had questions on the included directions, specifically with the base plate and the tapered thickness. The Simplisafe person di not knowwhat I was talking about and the instrucyions don't even acknowledge the two mounting positions. The "CLEARANCE" tab was not really explained either. Notice the instructions tell you to put the wires to the LEFT of the screws, but the illustration shoes them on the RIGHT. You have done a great job in providing explanations the the company did not even think to mention. Great job.
Very good video! I was able to install my doorbell with no issues after watching this. Each time I thought of a question while watching it, you answered the question within 10 seconds. Good job! This old lady is very appreciative.
I'm gonna go ahead.
I didn’t understand this until I did and it’s pretty funny
@@Cocinaughtyi dont get it
Very detailed and zero fluff. Love it! Thank you
Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa
I like your instructions. Way better. I've seen other instructions for this and they didn't even show the screw. They just said there is a screw you screw in there so thanks for that. I will be sending mines up tomorrow. I will update tomorrow
Love seeing a preview for another company's security system when going to watch a video on Simplisafe. Way to go, UA-cam!
Would be use to see what to do if there’s no existing doorbell
One area I wish you had covered was the notification itself. What was the time delay from button push to notification on your phone, and what does that notification look like? I have an old nest hello now and it’s pretty instant but ALSO included a preview of the video. To my knowledge, based on the other simplisafe cameras I have, the notifications are instant but DO NOT include a video preview. Thereby making you open the app to see who’s there, and the app takes a solid 5-15 seconds to load the video feed.
Love that If I order this I can still use my own doorbell as well.
Hi, you need to let everyone know- u need to make sure that Wi-Fi is avail in that spot. My wifi was NOT working in current spot. So I had to move it around to correspond to proper Wi-Fi connection. I thought doorbell not working and got very frustrated, when it would not work.
I'm going to go ahead and say this was useful. Go ahead and accept my thanks.
I thought I was doing it correctly, but it turns out I got ahead of myself, and now when anyone rings my doorbell, the garage door opens.
Go ahead go ahead go ahead 🙄
He forgot to check the voltage, video doorbells need 16-24 volts to work right
Ya the most important part lol or at least the first thing you do!
Your video is why I was able to install the doorbell. The "instructions" that came with the doorbell were abysmal!
One suggestion - This gave me difficulty: When inserting the wires under the screws, I thought I had to fit the wire BETWEEN the screw and the plate. I finally saw in your video that you slipped the wires BEHIND the rectangular piece, but I had to specifically look to see if that was what you were doing. It would clarify if you stated that the wires go BEHIND the rectangular plate, not around the screw on top of the plate (because they don't fit there!). But thanks for posting this helpful video!
Do they offer a battery powered model that can be powered by a solar panel?
Best helpful video I have seen regarding this. Thank you so much.
Great video, thanks.
I have a problem, after the installation was fully completed as you instructed is a continuous noice on the bell.
The ring bell is working, what do you think is happening? I changed the cables but the noice is still there.
Great instruction video. Thank you!
How will this work without a doorbell?
Just the camera will work then. No door chime. Nothing will happen if someone presses the button.
Great instructions except for troubleshooting the QR code not being recognized by the camera. After much time and online help, we got it to see the QR code by turning DOWN the phone brightness AND put a cover (newspaper) over camera and phone area AND it finally registered at 8", but wouldn't at 12". I have a Pixel 6a
Go ahead and give yourself a like
Great review/install video - thanks! I agree that you should've put the upward wedge on there. One thing I don't like about this doorbell camera is that it's huge, white plastic, and clunky-looking. It looks super cheap and weird. I prefer the look of the Ring doorbell camera.
Like the ring door bell isn't plastic? This one looks slimmer
I just wished it was a wireless system. Everything about simplisafe is that its wireless and then they bring out a wired door bell. I'm hoping at somepoint a wireless one will be released
Agreed. I assumed it was wireless
Thanks for showing me this. Guess the doorbell is pretty easy to remove too, so the thieves won't have a problem with it.
Can't you install with power on if careful?
I just installed my doorbell within a few mins, after watching your video! Super helpful. Quick check - am hard time hearing the voice when standing in the front of my doorbell (and when owner is talking to me through his phone/app).. am I missing any Software settings, or if its an Hardware issue?
Hi Kumar. How does it sound inside your home when it rings? Is it loud? Do you get prompts on how it responds to the visitor ie not able to come to the door right now etc. I just purchased 1 too and I want to know is it worth it. Thanks Jouli
@@joulibrown9174 Hi, after a few retries, I was able to have the voice working.. last week had a DHL guy was at my door and I outside, but I was able to communicate to him.. so felt I was lucky it worked for me and I didn’t miss a package delivery.. BTW, at times I noticed the notifications come very late via app, or none couple of times! Am not sure if that’s coz of my WiFi or the app behaving weird! Good luck with yours!
@@joulibrown9174 The door bell sound volume is quite good and noticeable I’d say
Hmm. The original doorbell button on my house is not on the same wall as the door. It faces to the side. Kind of a bummer...
Do you have a video installing the SS Chime Box??
If you already have a SimplySafe monitoring plan does that cover the door bell recording for review?
What is the screw suze abd type.
I have this doorbell in a box going to get the ring one instead their plan is alot cheaper. If I remove the doorbell chime unit will this still work because mine is also bang in the middle of the wall and wired inside
What if you have a side installed doorbell?
Thanks! Great content!
Did have to install the jumper wire at the existing chime box as you did in the ring doorbell?
Best video I have seen
Nice job…thank you!
Perfect video, thank you!
What if dont have an existing doorbell?
Great video! It helped me finish my setup
me, an empath, sensing he's gonna go ahead
Helpful!
Or throw the main to be absolutely sure…
So what if you don't have a doorbell at all
Is your catch phase “let’s go ahead “
Great video. My only issue, after installing my doorbell, is the mechanism in my hallway is now buzzing. Any idea why?
Same here my ring buzzing
@@adamotak5145 add a 10 ohm 1/2 W resistor to the chime in the hallway across the 2 terminals. tons of videos on this topic.
What if I didn't have an existing doorbell with wiring
Hi, on the app there a option for a SD card. What would be the purpose of a SD card if you need a subscription? Thank you
What if your existing doorbell has 4 wires? I have a Nucor doorbell
go ahead
Most of the circuit is “low-voltage” current that won't give a if come in contact with the wires.
mine does not work. when I turn the power back on the doorbell does chime- the ring on the door bell turns a yellow green for about seconds and then goes out. pressing the button does not chime the door bell. following the set up instructions says to charge for 20 mins. same issue as right from the get go. Forty mins so far on hold with customer support listening to that awful elevator music. was pretty happy with Simply safe - not so much now.
Great video, nice and simple.
I used the original wires from my door bell, and now every time someone rings the door bell my wife gets pregnant.
I hope you don't have a lot of company.
Dead 😝
Bruhhh ☠️
I really dont get the joke tbh
My screw for one of the wires is stripped
Not sure if we're being safe enough. Thought I'd call the power company and have them turn of power to my house.
😂
Ring the door bell, man. Did you need a chime or does it work with the existing house chime?
I installed one and it worked with existing door chime.
Mine rings continuously. SimpliSafe sent me a work around, "SimpliSafe Chime Connector" Part #SSCC3, but it does not work with my Nicor chime doorbell.
@@stuartbrodie6053 Be aware that Simply doesn't work with digital chime doorbell.
You can set the sensitivity three ways to adjust how far the camera will be triggered, you may not want to film every car driving by.
I bought a new home that has a PrimeChime Plus 2 Electronic Doorbell. I recently purchased a SimpliSafe video doorbell. SimpliSave sent me a work around cable for a digital chime with instructions on installation, but it DOES NOT work! I think I either trash the video door bell or trash the Nicor PrimeChime Plus 2 Electronic Doorbell because neither Nicor or SimpleSafe know how to integrate an electronic doorbell with the video door bell. Sure doesn't seem like Rocket Science to me!?!?!
They told me it’s low voltage no need to determine which circuit on the breaker. Inaccurate?
Correct, it low voltage DC. Try not to let the wires touch each other or the same metal parts while installing though, it can damage the power supply if you are working “live” and they short together. Oh, don’t put them in your mouth either lol, like a 9 volt battery (but even worse) it would not be a pleasant experience.
Agreed SimpliSafe system is easy to install. It's a good monitoring system but for the poor quality of their video doorbell camera from internet connectivity standpoint.
I did purchase it along with the Video Doorbell Camera but the camera goes offline (no live stream) with a message 'Disconnected from the internet' every 2-3 minutes. SimpliSafe attributed it to my poor Wi-Fi network when in fact I have 5 GHz-600 MBS speed bandwidth along with six Google Nest Wi-Fi routers.
When I complained to SimpliSafe, they asked me to the split the Wi-Fi network into 2.4ghz and 5ghz since SimpliSafe doorbell camera works only with 2.4ghz bandwith (this they do NOT say anywhere). I did the split and connected the SimpliSafe doorbell camera to 2.4ghz Wi-Fi network but in vain. The camera went offline as ever before. They sent me a replacement camera which too had the same 'going offline every 2-3 minutes' issue.
I repeatedly called SimpliSafe and asked for a good solution. They had the cheek to say I should move my internet router (which is about 10 feet away from the doorbell camera) closer to the doorbell camera. That was the last straw that broke the camel's back and I canceled my subscription service. While the rest of the SimpliSafe system works, the doorbell camera does not since it's outdated. Today's doorbell cameras support dual bandwith (2.4ghz and 5ghz) and SimpliSafe lags behind, thanks to their outdated technology.
I am currently using the SimpliSafe doorbell camera without the video recording feature from the web interface (smart app disabled due to my monthly subscription cancelation) though the the camera goes offline every 2-3 minutes but then I am not paying $27.99 for the poor quality of the camera. I can't return the equipment since I am past the product return window.
I see you under every simplisafe video commenting the exact same thing
@@Sandrinarhonda Yes, I did. Is it a crime?
@@gravisha 😂😂 I mean it just sounds like you copied and pasted and are still upset over it , did you get a new doorbell system ?
@@Sandrinarhonda yes, I did copy and paste my own statement across SimpliSafe UA-cam videos. I am not upset over it at all since I've installed Google Nest Doorbell camera which live-streams 24/7 without any dropped connections. I love SimpliSafe monitoring system much more than their outdated doorbell camera.
@@Sandrinarhonda yes I did, for I want potential SimpliSafe customers to know about the outdated 2.4 ghz technology.
Hey my doorbell wont work after i charge it it wont work
Ordered the camera like an idiot without realizing it requires you to have a doorbell. I got this because I didn’t have a doorbell to begin with.
the biggest problem that no one metioned it in any video that doorbells powered by 110/220 v and this device works by 8 to 24 v so it's more complicated and manufacturer avoid talking about this problem!
I’m gonna go ahead and point out the presenter said “Go Ahead” 67 times.
Test the microphone.
What if you don't have a door bell
Turn off the circuit breaker and push the doorbell button if it still rings then try again and if it doesn't you're golden to go, there I saved you 3 minutes.🙄🙄
For 160 bucks that thing should be installed from the inside of the door with a camera hole and button hole drilled to the front of the door really shitty design so easy to steal.
Just installed mine - it rings continuously!!! Please HELP!!!
Me tooo!!! What was the solution?? I'm on 40+ minutes on hold with simplisafe & I'm loosing my patience!
👏👏
HAHAHAhahahahahahaha very funny your video the way you explain the people how dose the SimpliSafe works why don’t you tell them the real way that it has to work that you need a stupid speaker like a Alexa
Can you explain that again in better english. I'm not sure what your trying to say.
@@elgee8872 it works better with Alexa
@@Sandrinarhonda I see. . Thanks
@@elgee8872 your welcome
