it's very easy to see why people blamed Geshu Lin, wrong as it may be. The situation in that battle was very bad, there will be more details in Jiyan's history quest... anyway, many soldiers died under Geshu Lin's command and although he did his best too, he was not able to give victory...or at least it was not credited to him but to jiyan who took the lead in the battle and who brought the victory, being recognized even by jue himself (jue is the sentinel of the city, he is something like a god)
