I was watching you apply the coating first and I was like NOOOOO!!! Haha just my OCD kicking in, you should use the detailer first after you wash then the protective coating and it will come out great!
Mild OCD compels me to shake my bottles before using...wax, polish, bbq sauce, Mobil 1 0w40, shampoo, cologne, butane, coolant. The cmx took the waterspots off but alcohol takes everything off including any coatings applied. By doing a iso wipe you can take old wax and coatings off to prep for new coatings. Also interested in a solution to not having to wipe a black car. I’ve found that you have to dry them immediately after a wash so you don’t get water spots. I use a leaf blower, and then a big microfiber to get any residual water off. Be nice if a product could repel dust so when it sits in the garage it doesn’t collect on the car. That’s a long shot though I’m sure.
CMX is not a very good product. I found two others, Exoforma and Torque. Both are great. I haven't tried the 303 but I'm always game to try anything new.
I’ve tried a bunch of stuff and to me Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer is still the best retail spray detailer for water beading and Meguiars Fast Finish is the quickest and easiest to use
all of the turtle wax, meguiars, mothers wax/ sealants are dimethicone. ceramic, SiO2, etc are all the same dimethicone coat. you're looking at 2 weeks of water beading at most. sealants from 15-20 years ago lasted 6-8 months were acrylic resin using v.o.c. carriers. major candy shell "pop" after the 24 hr cure beating anything on the market now. the acrylics e.g. ultima, procharger, flashed when applied to paint. there was a rainbow effect on the paint from the v.o.c. carrier evaporating and depositing the acrylic resin. you had to throw away the microfiber towel as it became stiff cardboard in 45 minutes. car sealants took a giant step back as v.o.c. were proven carcinogenic and now we're left with overpriced water-based crap that barely lasts a week. you can still buy the good stuff in very small quantities (30ml, 50ml) in order to save the planet. 🙄 just know that an $80 30ml of CQuartz 3.0 used to be sold for $29 in 10oz bottles in 2010
The Meguiars endurance purlpe tires shine gel works great for plastic trims rubber and even for dark interior . I have been using it for years and i live in the desert 114+ degrees and all plastic and rubber parts are still in good condition. I know the label on the bottle states for tires but i have not used anything else for my cars but that purple gel . maybe try it out one day Nathan because that stuff does last more often than other products. And just to put it out their im not sponsored or paid by Meguiars company.

When 303 got bought out by Meguires their products kinda went to shit. 303 was developed in my hometown and would always use it. Now that it's just rebranded and tried it, won't use it again, ever

Just don’t shake your brake fluid... if you do let it set a day before you use it.

Buy a water filter like spotless water system!

Also for the plastic cowling I would use Wipe new. That stuff works very well and last for a super long time.

Have you tried the Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax and was it any good? My Z4 is Sapphire Black Metallic and gets a lot of water spots.
