- Welcome to Charleston, South Carolina! This is where I teach classes at my own personal studio. And this is my Bowl Turning Masterclass. It’s a three day class where students can build on and hone their bowl turning techniques - They make a whole lot of shavings, and leave with a few bowls of their own. Here we’re going to take an in depth look at what it’s like to teach and to attend one of my classes.
If you'd like to take a class, keep an eye out on my Instagram or on AshleyHarwood.net!

Amazing class, incredible food, enlightening espressos, a teacher with the patience of an angel. I couldn't ask for anything more except to make room for me the next go round !
Ashley, I am so glad I found you. You are a fresh, cool breeze, out in that Sahara of videos.
Thank you. I have realized that I smile when watching you. (I’m a metal fabricator and wood worker for close to 50 years now)
This looks like an amazing experience!!! I love the idea of having those fabulous looking meals together as well as working together to master the techniques! Thank you for sharing it with us!!
Your class is on by bucket list. Hope to see you
soon. I am happy you started this channel and thanks for sharing.
I’ve been watching you for years. I have been intrigued by you artistic talent and how you got started with your Dad. You are the lucky ones who have caught on so fast. Great job. Remodeling our bathroom, but I can’t wait to get started again on the lathe. My daughter and I did a class in Utah and loved it. Keep turning, it is so therapeutic!
I'm self taught, several years as a winter-time hobbyist, and it feels that way when I turn. Having a real teacher for some things makes such a huge difference, and I do lots of stuff in less efficient ways than someone who learned from a master.
I came across your earlier offerings last year... awesome to watch! Very excited that your creating content! Keep up the great work!
That looks like a whole lot of fun. Thank you so much for sharing.
Congratulations, I'm very happy that you have this channel
That looks like a bunch of fun! Great work and good things going on there!!
When I bought my lathe, I youtubed and found you, but only a few videos on other channels and one video on yours...... I am so glad you are now actually sharing videos on your channel. I'm excited to see what you put out there for us in the future.
Awesome video Ashley. Thanks for posting.
I am in awe of your accomplishments, your beautiful shop, class development, etc., etc. Very inspiring.
Thank you!!
Another great job. Keep up the great work. I hope to take one of your classes, soon.
BEAUTIFUL, You your work and the clip.....
Wow your turning class is a Gourmet eating experience as well! I love watching your channel and I don't even do wood working!
Very nice video! It was a great experience that I would recommend for anyone. Thanks Ashley!
Looks like an awesome class and experience! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 ........ Food looks delicious too! 🤤
The food looks as amazing as your turnings! Thanks for sharing your time and talent!
Thank you!
Them lovely creations are held captive in a lump of wood, and with your guiding hand, they are all realeaased to the world to show off their full beauty.
Nice one. ;-)
Love this.
A big hello from Houston, Tx. I really like what you are doing in teaching bowel turning, great channel.
So awesome...you can tell it was a great experience for all of them!
Yes, it was a great class and we all had a lot of fun!
Wow...A great class!
So glad to see that you have a UA-cam channel now, Ashley. Subscribed and waiting for more!
Thanks, Lee!
This is such a great video and makes me really want to come out and take a class. Something I will really have to save for since I’m on the other corner of the country.
You are a real inspiration I really wanted to teach practical woodwork
keep up the great work.. very well done!
You are a joyful instructor.
Very smart way to uncoil a new band saw blade! You can fold over the old ones with your foot and they will snap into two. This can be done several times to make the blade smaller and more manageable. Be careful and great video!
Ashley, you are beautifuul and gorgeous as hell! If I were talented, visionary and interested enough in actually doing woodturning, I most certainly would attend your class. For now, I'll just admire your and other talented woodturners' work on the Tube.
great video!!! def want to try to get to one of the classes
Yea.......I want to come just for lunch! I hope your school and your business prosper! DD
That looks like a great class! I might have to make a trip out there. Also, this video made me hungry.
Great school. I began turning after a two-day foundation course eight years ago and when I began to make progress at home I took another medium capabilities course. I also joined a woodturning club and we regularly have international demonstrators such as Nick Agar, Cindy Drozda. I regret that there too few young people in the craft.
The turning looks fun but I’d almost sign up for the class for the lunch alone ! When I retire (3 years) I’ll definitely look into it if you’re still teaching :) the class looks truly awesome!
Great video! I'd wondered about the experience required for your classes and it looks like you're fine with a variety of levels. I've been especially interested in dust protection, so I've been curious about your thoughts on the SR 500 system. Would love to see a video from you on recommendations for dust collection, respirators, etc. Nice work on the videos.
Love to watch those shavings fly. I’d love to take one of your classes Ashley! Are you ever going to be in Louisville, KY?
Awesome class!
Hi Ashley...Love your videos, can't wait to come down south from Maine for a class. Hopefully you have something scheduled in October?
I wish I could afford to come take your class. I haven't even bought a lathe. Would be nice to learn and see if I even have what it takes to learn and use a trade like wood turning. You, as well as Nick Zammetti and his UA-cam channel are a big part of inspiring me to even want to do something like what y'all do.
Excellent video.
Great video Would love to take a class one day
me encantan esos cuencos
Can't really comment on the turning bit, but as a chef with 35+ years experience I've got to say your lunch game is strong.
Hi Ashley. Your class sounds like just what I need. Will you be holding any classes on the west coast in the future? Bob Giles
Is that Vicmarc lathe the one from Gorst?
Nice video!
parabens ashley. so fan sebastiao vitorio moro no brasil.
Noone can beat ur smile...wish to learn someday
Your classes look fantastic. Do you ever travel to germany? I attend to courses in Heidelberg which are good, and they have guest instructors. Keep up your great work
Ashley, should the tool-rest, be level with, be above, or below the wood centre? Greetings from Scotland.
I’ve just found your channel. I’m a 1st Class Machinist by trade and I live in Australia 🇦🇺
I wish to start my own bespoke wood art business including fine furniture.
I think a trip to attend one of your workshops may prove to save me a LOT of time in sanding through best practice tool handling techniques.
I will contact you through your website. Kind Regards,
Errol 🇦🇺👍😎👍🇦🇺
I've been looking for an introduction level class. Charleston is only about 6 1/2 hours away.
Would sooo love to attend, took some persuading the wife to goto Makers Central on my own never mind the USA
Oh, my 24 year old daughter would love to come!
Ashley, I have watched some of your videos and one thing I was missing in your videos is the fact that you never talk about how important is in woodturning sharp tool. Personally I think that is the most important fact of woodturning. Im not trying to be critical, it is an observation I have made, watching your videos.
Do you have any tips for lathe height? I am bent over my lathe a lot and watching this made me realize that it probably needs to be raised up a lot.
I’m interested in your course do you teach spindle turning and how to sharpen the tools I’ve turned some but not from a log just from glueing up some boards
I wish I could take one of classes.
Ashley. What bandsaw blades do you use?
Can u make a video of ur line of tools as well as the taper lock system and how it works thanx
Very interesting, you have a new subscriber now. Looking forward to watching your videos. I'm new at turning just started March 1, 2019.
Привет!
Вы умница и молодец!
Очень красивые вещи делаете!
👍👍
any chances for online classes for those from the other continents? :)
First!!
Splendid work, Miss. Something to look forward to when I leave my little studio apartment someday!
By any chance, do you have relatives in the Midwest? I ran into someone by the name of Harwood at my job here in Indiana.
That's AMAZING considering there are 37.000 people with the name Harwood in the US. Whahahaaaa! :-))
The next time youre out and about and you just happen to come across Bill Murray you should invite him to a bowl turning class
Ha! We've thought about this! We need Bill!
Hey. I checked out your website, any future bowl class?
👍
How much there in Charlston?
Do you do your own video production?
Pam from the office
What makes it a masterclass? How much experience should one have to take a class?
Thankfully I unplugged from the social media bandwagon; so any chance you'll be answering anyone's question; like
a Q/A video,or providing enrollment fee here on your UA-cam channel? Good luck with your channel :)
Dare you going to post more classes on your website. I only see the two that have passed
Blz tudo de bom, como faço para ter umas aulas de torno. abraço
