Freight is soooo much more interesting than passenger stock - but when hauled by a Deltic, that's an exception! Thanks for sharing, what a great place to watch trains!
Deltic is doing 102mph by my estimate! :D Looking at the time it took the train to pass one of the patches in the ballast and the video frames, I'd estimate it took the train 3.93 seconds for its 179.9m (5 car DBSO, CL55, CL87, 2x standard opens) length to pass.
Love to see the fast freight after watching it through Carlisle with Les Gilpin. The Deltic was a fantastic and memorable bonus at a great location…when is it on the ECML in its homeland❤
Wow i can not believe how you kept your lovely camera still on the tripod really good camera work as well keep it up hope to hear from you soon bye for now Philip
Love the sound of the 70’s traction motors under load at that speed. You can’t heard it on most diesels! The Deltic though… in a class of its own! Tamworth Low Level is actually a fantastic spot for railway video/photography. These videos prove it! As long as the main subject doesn’t get photobombed!
3:00 in you seem far too close to the train there and are yoy standing inbetween two tracks? Not having a go at you i am genuinely curious as it is a great shot!
I’m stood at the end of the platform. There are lines both side of the platform there - The left hand side is a through line, the right hand side terminates.
100 was the official permitted top speed although reports exist of 114 mph being achieved on test. Unofficial reports record 120 was reached once for a solitary mile but that can’t be proven.
@@johnalford4786 no, it looked about the ton. Top speed ever recorded was 55008 in 1978 - 125 mph. The run was published in Railway World magazine. I've clocked 55009 at 116 mph and 55022 at 114 mph. Not GPS, proper stopwatch continuous timing at mileposts.
I never understood why freight doesn't use electric motive power more often surely it would be cheaper and more efficient. Also a shame there never was a replacement for class 73
Not entirely sure but those wheels (not discs) might have something to do with manual mechanisms of the wagons and possibly manual brakes. But as i mentioned before not sure as is at least one on the side of them as many other wagons use to have though to manual brake them but on the rear is not so common and i do not know what are they for. Hope it helps.

Brilliant! True Napier music 👍😁👍
My son Iain was driving it this morning 🙂👍
Bet he enjoyed that👌👍🏆
Lucky him.
UA-cam vloggers are often guilty of over exaggeration, but in this case "hammers" is a fair description !
Royal Scots Grey in fine fettle!

Great clip of the deltic.
The Deltic was in a class of its own and nicely captured. Regards, John
Thanks John 👍
S bends at one end and a straight at the other. What an amazing place to watch the trains. Great stuff. The Deltic was awesome. All the best.
Thanks Tim.. Def a great spot that one to see locos at speed 👍
Deltic looked superb
Wasn’t hanging about either !!!
Seriously good shot of the Deltic
Great video. I'm so glad that there are a few people who hold their phones in the horizontal position.
Quite right the old girl was allowed to run on the fast lines.
Same great footage there. The Deltic looked & sounded fantastic. 👍
2:06 that bloody two stroke. What a beautiful noise
Great seeing the freight lads able to stretch there legs on the fast passenger lines ,as for the SCOTS GREY JUST WOW
Long story short - was parked up by Wigan North Western and it came belting by there too!!! Very pleasant surprise!
Can’t get much better than being surprised by a Deltic in full flow 👌👍
Yes, that Deltic certainly was moving!
That deltic was definitely proving itself after its last run!
Great video of assorted goods and D9000 RSG coming around that curve absolute ace. Thank you
If only I could have been on the Deltic travelling at that speed, There is still no other Loco like them, there the best & always will be.
How old are you?
They fixed the faulty Napier then? Obviously not too serious a problem. Thanks for posting. All those containers off the crowded roads!
Let’s have many more off the roads!

1609 metres in a mile. That's 35.15 seconds to do a mile. 3600 seconds in an hour so 3600/35.15 = 102.41 mph if my maths is correct.
Nerd
LOL. I agree with your comment.@@noooo_safechat2589
The world needs nerds
WOW Royal Scots Grey certainly looks better after its last run she was flying loved it cheers
Deltic looked and sounded great 👍
It’s great! Spectacular well shot in it’s entirety
That London Euston wasn't hanging about, that's what I call hauling ass , Beautiful big Engines doing what they do best
Very nice deltic looking beautiful as always
Something special about those locomotives that noise phenomenal
Absolutely great when in top gear like that - Amazing sound and to see👌👍
That's some stupid cant on that curve, wow. Great video, thanks for posting.
That sound !!!
Love to see the fast freight after watching it through Carlisle with Les Gilpin. The Deltic was a fantastic and memorable bonus at a great location…when is it on the ECML in its homeland❤
My lordz, what a roar
Geez those Deltics could go like a stabbed rat! The freights weren’t playing either!!
Omg... Oh my god, what a fastest this gone hell of this!!!... Jeez!! 😱

Love the deltoids. Fine locos.
Excellent video 👍
Good visuals. Well done
Great video as usual! 👍
Nice video mate 👍
Amazing ❤🚂❤
The Deltic seens in fine fettle after its indiscretion on 21st April.
I’d say so! It’s made it up to Carlisle in very good time. 👌👍
Can't beat a Deltic at full chat on both engines
That Deltic was at full speed, no question. You don't see that every day.
Listen to that Deltic with headphones on as it thunders through your head from one ear to the other.
I’ve had to replay this myself - Well worth it..!! ✅✅
What was a class 87 locomotive doing on the back
It was there to assist with the ECS moves to Euston and then back to Crewe from Carlisle.
Nice vid mate , when was this ?
Cheers - It was this morning.. 1Z70 Euston-Carlisle non stop.
The Deltic was shifting through the platform
3:00 in you seem far too close to the train there and are yoy standing inbetween two tracks? Not having a go at you i am genuinely curious as it is a great shot!
I’m stood at the end of the platform. There are lines both side of the platform there - The left hand side is a through line, the right hand side terminates.
Hope the curves don't make the curvaceous trains curve too much.
Great shots! Love RSG's. Can you tell me what video camera you use, as I wish to replace mine and yours looks good for trains?
Thanks - The camera is a Panasonic HC-VXF1 👍
Superb! What speed was she doing?
Deltic's still being used they are nearly 60years old.
Flying dustman! 😂
How is the new class 99 depot looking in Leicester when are you going next
Have a look back at my recent vids - I was there about a week ago..
@DestinationTrainsPlanes yes I actually watched all of your videos you done and I'm not lying every single video
What train station where you at
Hi Alex, this was Rugeley Trent Valley.
Why all the empty trucks?
What was the top speed of a deltic? that one certainly was shifting.
100mph
@@TheClockwise770 Thank you

It does something, but those containers freight come from the ports such as Felixstowe where they don't have electrification
Why do modern wagons, especially container flats, make that eerie whooshing noise?
what gauge ?
Hi, the UK rail network runs on 1435mm gauge.
What are the disks for on the end wagon of the 6M13?

They are for opening the doors.
How fast was that??!!!!
Close to full beans I’d say 👌👍
Various consists….Good to see the graffiti boys are keeping the spray paint industry in business.
It's a worldwide phenomenon. I see some impressive graffiti art on freight trains in the US.
It's a pity the Deltic was pulling such a small train.
Huge catenary structure.
Not one single electric train.
🦺👌🧏
these modern freight engines are soooooo FUGLEY!
Nice vid, but it's 55022 as opposed to 55002
Where does it say 55002..?

Shame they had to put it on a strike day, made it impossible to see it
It’s possible they saw the chance for a clear non-stop run with it being a strike day and took the opportunity purposely 🤷♂️
Why the fuck is there an electric train on the rear of a diesel rail tour, the return journey won’t be as good
It was a private working rather than a rail tour.
Utterly ridiculous. So many empty slots. Get that heavy freight off the roads!
