Gentle landscape, truly calming. And a rather long but inviting lake. Thank you for pointing out the Canadian Bombardier equipment in many of your videos. In 1917, my father was drafted and taken from Transylvania to Villach by a ...much slower train😅. After a few weeks of training, he ended up on the Italian front, where he survived gas attacks. He fell POW in Gorizia, Italy, and that is why I'm able to write this comment 😂😅.
Ja zelo prima. Dobrih 25 min, do najkrajšega dne v letu si poznojesenski dan imenitno podaljšaš skoraj za eno uro, če se zvečer odpraviš od Tarvisia do Klagenfurta. Kolorit in jesenska umirjenost prekrasne pokrajine sta zares vredna vsake minute zelo zanimivega in imenitnega popotovanja. 👍💯

Nice and interesting cab ride in a very beautiful october sunny day. Some nice landscapes seen and a splendid views over a lake. (Due to a wall at right, only 1mn.) Bellissimo video, complimenti ! La parte modernizzata della vecchia "Rudolfsbahn" Amstetten-Selzthal-St. Michael-St. Veit an der Glan-Villach-Tarvis/Tarvisio-Jesenice-Ljubljana, ormai dal 1918 divenuta parte della "Pontaflerbahn" "Pontebbana" Tarvisio-Udine.
hermoso trayecto! la paleta de colores otoñales es increíble y entiendo porqué Europa ha sido cuna de grandes pintores como Renoir por ejemplo entre otros
A shorter cab ride, but very beautiful, first the mountainous section until Villach, then the ride along the Wörther See to Klagenfurt. Was a few times too in the area, driving on the A23 and on some local roads there, but still enjoyed the perspective from the train cab. Thanks a lot for the video, greetings from a traveller from Germany!
@roadsexplore greetings from Ljubljana, Slovenia. You are welcome. This journey offers some nice views on the lake...it seems that all the landscapes that I am driving through offer us beautiful views. I doesn't matter whether the line takes us through the mountains, on flat planes or across the valleys...there is alway something very interesting and different along the way. I personally love it. I love to travel and explore new places.
Great video except some typos: Föderlach is just Föderlach or Foederlach if you don’t use the ö Duel is not in the station name they are both small villages of the county Wernberg

Thanks for these videos, amazing way to take your mind off and just stare without doing anything :) Could you comment on how you film? Do you just ask the driver to put a camera on the train or do you have to go through official channels and extract a permit of some kind? And if so, are people in administration keen on such permissions? Thanks!
@noxis93 you are welcome. It depends on the line. I always need to ask for the permission. To get the permit through official channels is quite difficult and long lasting process ...
Current change is already at Tarvisio Boscoverde (Green Forest) station (you can see by the length of insulators on the catenary system - for 3kV DC they are much shorter than on 15kV AC). This was the usual way in the past where one of the border stations would be equipped to be dual-system allowing for the change of locos. Now with multi-system locos and EMUs, new cross-border electrification projects allow for switch-over at the border point. Signalling is also different - both line-side and cab signalling, but when locomotives are homologated for more countries this includes signalling and support multiple national systems and standard ETCS so whichever is used. Up to 160km/h (100mph), line-side signalling is typically applied. Due to various reasons (including trade union and labour regulations), train drivers usually switch at border while there are other solutions as well (from same driver being trained/certified for more countries to a visiting driver being accompanied by a local one).
@Paul Whitear - Due to a building site. An underpass in Pörtschach/Techelsberg 35:30 is still under construction. The project will be completed by the end of 2023.
Even before the actual border Italy/Austria, trains are running on the right side track, according to the german railways tradition and norm, instead of left track. You've got to be well aware that you are not suddenly on the wrong track…🧐
It comes from Rosenbach, but the section from Rosenbach to Weizelsdorf (where the museum line to Ferlach branches off) is no longer in regular service. The tracks still exist though, and there have been talks that the museum railway might take them over - but the rail club probably cant afford the upkeep.
Last (active) stop on the line is Weizelsdorf (S-bahn Karnten line S3 on working days), but old line continued all the way to Rosenbach (now unused) - for the video, saying line "from Rosenbach" (I think) helps people to put the line in perspective - it goes south, crosses the Drau/Drava and then turns west if it goes (did go) to Rosenbach and Karawankentunnel. Who knows, maybe it will be rehabilitated and reopened one day for the full length as a shorter link from Koralmbahn to Karawanketunnel to avoid very busy Villach.
Good trip, but a lot of information, having put the meters in the tunnels, was enough. The letters distract and take away from seeing the wonderful landscapes that we have passed
