  • Recently there's been drama surrounding the new patch in Helldivers 2 nerfing the eruptor. And many people have been bringing up old nerfs to the railgun, breaker, quasar canon, arc thrower, and more. But the CEO has recently responded to our concerns that they will be listening! He also went in the main discord and responded to some people about some stuff that could be coming to the game. #helldivers2

      They didnt listen. They made a really stupid choice. Almost ruined their game. Now they are trying to regain our goodwill. They already proved they dont care when they kept making fun of people and ignoring players asking for them to do a balance instead of nerfing every warbond a few weeks after it comes out. Crazy how they made millions of dollars and they couldnt hire more employees to fix balance issues. Its funny how everyone wanted to cry about how they beat the big bad corpo snoy. But yall worship its puppet company.

      @@DaaClaptain First off, can we tone it down a notch? I get you're upset, but kicking down the gate and spraying incivility all over collecting all that collateral damage isn't going to solve much. Second of all, there's kind of a catch 22 in your comment there. You said that they can't hire more employees to fix balance issues. With the way they've handled things, would you want to work for Arrowhead? Just asking and putting that into perspective.
      I also think Arrowhead isn't as unified as they appear and try to sell themselves as and that's become more and more apparent. There's part of them trying to appease their end of the deal with the devil....I mean Sony, there's a part of them trying to handle the community, there's a part of them trying to pay their bills, there's the ones making content and apparently also fixing it, and then I want to say there's people at Arrowhead who are completely out of tune with it all. They're the ones who are like, "THIS IS UNACCEPTABLY OVER USED!!! QUARTER IT'S DAMAGE BECAUSE IT'S RUINING THE GAME!!!" And I'm not referring to balance devs. There seems to be a subset of Arrowhead employees going over Johan (if Johan just isn't straight up lying to all of us in social media) that don't share the same ideals on how the game should be and so a change gets made and to some of them, it's as they wanted. To the player base, it makes no sense as to why they ruined the game.
      And the thing is that they are riding high on their initial success, that's true. They've abused that good will as you've implied and you're absolutely correct that they're quickly running out of it and actually need to step it up to the level they're gabbing on about. However, there does need to be a small amount of leeway given as Arrowhead hasn't had much large success, Helldivers 2 is their 5th title and really their first major success. They don't know how to handle global success on this scale, they never prepared for success, and it's painfully obvious that they're lacking in their response to this. They're in a new realm of business they've never set foot in before and we're having to eat the flak they're dropping unfortunately. I'm not saying they are blameless. I'm saying that their time for "acceptable mistakes" is quickly burning up and their act better be together come August (6 months from launch) or else we'll know the level of their potential.
      It's like a new pair of shoes. First few days they may be absolutely horrible on your feet. After those first few days, they do break in and they feel great OR they just never quite fit and you never buy them again. We're still in that breaking in period in my opinion. I know it's way too long, but I just feel like they need a reasonable shake before they get the boot for ineptitude.

      I theorize the CEO was taking a more hands-off approach to the game post server implosion, letting the team have autonomy, but considering all the community seems to talk about is the questionable nerfs vs some things actually getting buffed, I guess he's gonna be more hands on with what the balance team is doing.

      Few thoughts about balancing. I’m not for “never nerf”. I bought super credits to support Arrowhead. However, I lost joy with the last balancing patches. Why:
      A big part the game is the feeling. Weapons have weight, enemies react to hits and we don’t scale only by HP. Great. BUT, the feeling is disturbed with enemy buffs. Trailer/early gameplay allows killing a bile titan via EAT headshot. Doesn't work now. Spawn increased. More big foes and less effective weapons. For casuals (me) this turns HD2 into a “runaway simulator” at high diff (which I need for progress by samples…). More skilled players probably enjoy the higher difficulty. That’s why I have some suggestions regarding the balancing:
      • Let heavy weapons be heavy hitters
      • Don’t try to balance the game like its an e-sports title. It isn’t
      • Don’t punish players for playing with 1 or 2 friends
      • Drastically increase difficulty for 8 and 9 (compared to 1-7), so “dad gamers” can get their progression (a bit slower) while enthusiasts can have their challenge
      • More diverse loadouts by enemy resistances (please no physical). Breaker incendiary gets less interesting a certain % of enemies may have fire resistance. Same for gas, lightning, etc.
      • Increase toughness of big enemies by adding ERA for heavy Automaton units. And a symbiosis with another armored bug that tanks a hit before the Titans head is vulnerable. Use small bugs riding a titan and throwing thorns in the direction of incoming EAT. Spawn these with normal enemies (while their share rises in high difficulties).
      The games core superb. We have fun playing it. It’s not a chore (like playing 1h of boring repetitive WoW quests every day to even be able to play the interesting parts once a week), it’s not ridiculously time consuming (like Diablo 4s get a best in class). I (and all my friends) stopped playing these games because we don’t need a second job. But Pilestedts last replies make me optimistic that we might keep playing Helldivers 2 for longer.

    Coming from my days in Warframe. Nothing kills hype for new content faster then a community-wide mindset of "Why should I even bother trying the new strong weapons when it's just going to get nerfed later."
    This led to a large portion of the player base quitting because players would spend hours, maybe DAYS, fine-tuning their new favorite weaponry/strats/ability. Then a month later it's nerfed to the ground making all that effort feel pointless.

      @@fluffywhitebudgie6376 the real problem is it shouldnt be his job to clean up his employees mess. He should be directing the company as a whole rather than a damage control guy for shit that shouldnt have escalated to this level.
      That said I remember 15 years ago when they first showed off Magicka and they were explaining "dont do that spell it crashes the game right now."

      ​@@DuraLexSedLex tbf he is at the head of this train. If he is needing to do the job of the CM's he can always get them fired/demoted. If the devs are acting like fools on social media while representing the company, it's partly his responsibility to stop it from ever happening again.
      Yet this has now happened like 10 times since the game launched. He needs to be the one to tell them to knock it off or they are fired. Their terrible behavior is costing the company a lot of money and goodwill. Obviously, they haven't been told their job will be at stake if they insult the customers directly on discord or twitter.

      More like we, as the consumers are lucky it seems. I don't doubt there are already activists itching to get their agenda posted, all parties/sides alike. But the CEO was like, no, stop, none of that bs and had any activism pro or con hard banned if it was mentioned. Only managed democracy is allowed. So, I don't think they are too happy about that but they do tolerate it.

    I still hand get over the fact that the balance guy on discord used to be the guy who did the balancing for hello neighbour 2... it all makes sense when I think about it. In that game, he also nerfed the fun things players could do instead of making other playstyles viable.

      My conspiracy theory is that the mistake he made was saying the quiet part out loud. I can see a world in which the CM team decided that riling up the community was the best way to get Sony to back off on this nonesense. But admitting it probably invited some sort of liability.

    "Players were using an exploit where they were having fun with their primary weapons. Yes, that's an edge case. No, I didn't consider it. Weapon effectiveness has been nerfed. I still strongly believe that primary weapons benefit from being mostly useless more consistently. So, it's only a net minus if you're having fun, otherwise it's perfect."

      @@stronensycharte64 It was probably doing massive damage due explosion sucking things inwards, which is obviously a bug. Other weapons that can rickochet off the ground like greanade launcher and AC couldnt onetap charger so there was probably something else in a working.

      @@Steir12 the explosion sucking in things had little to do with the effectiveness. Fragments "shotgunning" targets is presumably the issue regarding chargers (and possibly some other cases like being able to shoot down gunships)

      @@sinteleon There has to be some unforseen shenanigans happening under the hood that explains oneshots. I know devs might look incompetent at times but they definitely should know how many damage shrapnel does in raw numbers. If they expected removing shrapnel to have negligible effect on damage output but in fact it neutered the gun into oblivion it means shrapnel did more damage than it meant to in the first place. Perhaps each shard could apply multiple instances of damage due to bug or something like this.

    I get the sense that this "balance team" don't play their own game. Instead of making passive aggressive comments on discord they should playtest their own game and balance weapons based on actual data and not on which weapon is the most popular right now.

      Realistically, most of the devs would not spend much time playing the game themselves.
      The game designer probably would, but not more than most passionate players out there.
      They most likely are running test cases and scenarios on their designs instead of diving into the full experience.
      This is not a problem if they can still make the game good, many designers are able to achieve that.
      However, as soon as ppl start complaining "the devs dont even play their own game", no amount of arguments can justify it because the end result is bad

    6:30 thing with the railgun is that it wasn't just the oneshot bug that was "nerfed" out, it was its overall penetration and damage stats as well prior to that bug fix. It still could use some revisiting. If they were to be super ambitious, I would like to see the railgun get a unique scope that highlights internal critical hit locations that the railgun can exclusively penetrate (with or without unstable, depending on the armour obstructing it) for significant damage, ie a fuel tank in a .. tank or a charger's heart or a titan's brain. But ofc redesigning all the enemies around 1 gun would be a bit absurd.

      Safe-mode for the railgun was nerfed out of viability.
      They need to remove the option to use safe-mode if they are going to make it so trash.
      It's still so laughable that they nerfed a gun that hard because of a bug. Talk about reactionary balance patches.

    I've actually lost a lot of excitement playing this game after over 350 hours because of the weird nerfing weapons/buffing enemies stuff going on. Takes away some of the fun for me, personally.

      Tbh what has been bothering me is the lack of anti heavy armor now that we are back vs the bugs. I hate needing to run 500kg and eat every game to deal with titans because theirs so few options to deal with them.

    The helmet idea is a cool one. Having some sort of night vision would be neat and I like his idea of medic helmets showing health, etc.

      Added to that, I'd like something where you can see team mate's ammo stats and the like. Currently, it just constantly flashes red if they're even 1 stim or 1 mag down, which tells me nothing.
      Good night visions are a must. I have a friend with not-great eyesight and for us, ALL the damn missions seem to spawn night side of every planet (possibly because we're not in the most populated of timezones in AUS?) . It's not great

      Enemy health would be cool, don't really need to see teammate health as it's always right there on your hud. Night vision, thermal vision, minor POI radar since the scout/UAV shit is unreliable at best.

      @@elimgarak1127 Eh you'd be surprised at how much people don't look at the side of their of the screen for their OWN health during gameplay and take seconds to see if their team is down let alone injured. So having one give health for your team over their head while looking at them in practice would assist the majority of players.

    Every time the game gets updated, my past gaming experience and the weapons I'm used to using get all wiped out, and I have to figure them out and get used to them all over again.

      I figured I'd play again when the devs figured out where all the weapons shake out to.
      But really, I reinstalled STALKER Gamma and haven't looked back

    They need to un-nerf the quasar and fix the bug with it. It has a heat sink, but if you can shoot it or not isn't even linked to that mechanic, so it's not affected by heat or cold on planets that affect the Scythe, Sickle, Dagger, or Laser cannon. If it is supposed to have the same mechanic, then let that mechanic actually function.
    15 seconds to cool down on a hot planet, 12 for a normal planet and 9 seconds on a cold planet would feel right and be fair.

      The quasar is the only nerf they did that i agreed with and i still feel they didn't nerf it enough. That thing was so OP it made any other antitank weapon straight up pointless. It's a recoilless rifle with infinite ammo, doesn't need you to stand still to reload, and doesn't take your backpack slot. Just a straight up upgrade. Everyone was using it. It was the most broken gun they ever made, and still is. I don't get why everyone is taking issue with this.

      Sure, buff the reload/cooldown but make it use one heatsink per shot and give you 2 or 3 total, or half the damage. Then it might be balanced.
      Seriously the nerf is a joke anyway. If you are standing there holding it waiting on the cooldown you are using it wrong. It's the only antitank weapon in the game that reloads on your back. You can call strats, use other weapons, and activate terminals while it reloads. That alone without any of its other benefits makes it the strongest antitank without team loading.
      It's also the only energy weapon that doesn't require heatsinks to be replaced when they overheat giving it truly unlimited ammo.
      It still does damage comparable to eat/rr
      It has instant travel time so you don't need to lead targets like drop ships.
      It has unlimited range letting you snipe turrets.
      Pre-nerf it could fire more rapidly than any other antitank option except team loading recoilless (good luck doing that on high levels with randoms). Eat doesn't count because you can't carry both and only gives you 2 shots every 70s which is the worst fire rate in the game if you need 3 or more.
      Out of the things they could have nerfed they went with the mildest option. Be glad it's still probably the strongest antitank thanks to reloading on the move, and can only really be blown out of the water by a team loaded recoilless when it comes to firepower.

      @@Giliganismyou are totally correct idk why people have been whining and complaining like they couldn’t just throw a stratagem or shoot for the extra 5 secs the nerf made its fire rate go from 4.6 RPM to 3.3 RPM which is only about a 30% fire rate nerf which is still faster than the EAT which is 2 rounds every ~70 seconds or ~1.75 rounds per minute and the RR is faster even without team reload but are people really gonna say that a backpack stand still reload should be more than a on the back auto load so like most things with this game people are crying over nothing because their super strong thing isn’t super strong

    I have been in break for almost a month now. I really hate how they just keep butchering all the weapons to the point where shit is not even fun to deal with especially during the addition of even more difficult enemies like the automaton striders..

    The slugger nerf was the worst in my opinion. Making it able to stun enemies (slug them), was very nice and really the only reason to use it. Now it shoots slower and stuns less. No reason to use it anymore

      It came at a time when I didn't have a viable alternative because I hadn't unlocked the dominator or scorcher yet and when the counter sniper wasn't a good alternative either. Moving past that until I unlocked a gun which felt good to play with again was a tremendous struggle for me.

      It's still pretty fun and especially good if you plan to run a backpack stratagem. The nerf does hurt but it didn't ruin the weapon's identity, so it's still usable.

    Arrowhead's solutions of making all weapons feel terrible needs to stop because these "balance" changes only get more extreme as time goes on. We've gone from them adding some more recoil and taking 3 rounds out of the Breaker to HALVING the Sickle's reserve ammo and DOUBLING the Quasar's recharge time. They even nerfed the crossbow despite the fact that no one uses it. And I'm sorry, but any weapon buffs are never significant enough to offset the negatives of the nerfs. 5 extra damage on the default Liberator doesn't actually mean anything to players when the Slugger now takes extra shots to take down Hive Guards.

      I really don’t understand this. Nerfs, mostly, should be stuff like recoil and stuff like that. You could even change things like bullet speed and the like.
      The Defender probably needs something like that. Crank the recoil up a little bit. And make it so it has a lower effective range because of the bullet drop. A good player can still compensate for these things. And it is still a nerf. No idea why they don’t do this type of thing.
      I really don’t understand why they need to nuke weapons like this.

    There is a big difference between 1-2 shotting a bile titan, and 20 shotting a bile titan. The difference in the railgun is ridiculous. Sucking out the fun.

    Nerf insta killing bile spewers, they should do damage in a similar way fire does, not instantly kill, even when not hitting you. What kind of stupid design is it wft has to be some kind of "bug"?

      Its probably not a bug but more a long the line of bad animation tracking with the actual hit box of the attack that and it being larger then the visual spitting.

      That was supposed to be a bug, one that was "Fixed" apparently. I suspect it has something to do with frame rates. Regardless, stupid medium enemy type you can't plan for until you land on the planet. Do not like them one bit. I'd rather all missions have them now along with the other enemy types they typically remove. As far as I can tell there's 3 "sets" of enemy types you can be up against and I take certain things for all of them. It's not fun not knowing before hand. I think they could do better there on informing the player, or condense it down to 1 set like the automatons and thin out the spawn rates for some of the more cringe enemies.

    It's not just that they nerfed the weapons, it's often time the nerf is so heavy it killed the gun, for example the Slugger-it was hit in both dmg and stagger power for "being too good as a sniper" now it has shit dmg and you're 100% fucked if you have Stalker on you because you can't stagger them, yes i love it when a shotgun firing slug has no stagger power.

      Blitzer is the new slugger if you need that stagger. It can kill all bugs up to brood commanders and stalkers. Until they nerf it again, of course.
      Also it is an arcing weapon, but the arcing upgrade does not apply to it for whatever reason.

    My main problem is that Helldivers 2 isn't a static game. Joel is messing up with the enemies all the time, and those "weapon balances" are ruining with both players and the GM understanding of the game.

    I enjoyed so much playing solo on Difficulty 7, it was my personal max, could complete mission but not all objectives, was working on that, but not the patrolls are out of control, its not even fun, I know before they were buged and spawned less than "intended" for solo, but COME ON....

      The real reason is they want to curb solo farming. After all, this is an extraction shooter, a 4 man team should be the ideal way of playing the game.
      IMO, they could've resolve the farming issue by setting a max limit of SC per day.

Used to kill teammates and myself all the time, but now I can run whole missions without hitting anyone on the team. I would like it to be more consistent and target aware tho. It often just shoots the ground before an enemy or tagets chargers instead of the hunters beside it

Hellpods don’t come with full supplies, friendly fire incidents are considered a constant reality, have you seen all the things they do to eagle-1 when you upgrade her? She gets the cockpit blasted full of liquid, leg space is cut down for more bombs, things like fire suppression, life support and ejection are also removed for more bombs. Cutting costs at the cost of lives is something super earth does quiet well so for them to care about safety now wouldn’t make sense

    I dont know if you will read or even see this but yes, technically speaking there have been more buffs than nerfs to guns. at least direct nerfs and buffs. the problem that is creating so much friction is all the indirect nerfs to weapons. stupid shit like making Spore Towers heavy armor was a direct nerf to the Dominator and Eruptor. Buffing hulk stagger resistance is a direct nerf to Arc Thrower. The movement speed buff of gunships was a direct nerf to the Dominator, Eruptor and HMG being able to target the engines. The Scount Strider becoming more resistant to explosion damage was a direct nerf to the Scorcher, Explosive Crossbow, Eruptor, grenade pistol and grenades in general. Every time they buff an enemy by increasing its resistances or changing the weakspots (like the bile titans) or increasing the threat/awareness range of enemies like gunships and shriekers, increasing patrols the fewer the players, all of that just takes away from player power because its indirect nerfs to the players weapons or ability to fight.
    Planetary weather effects are a nerf to players since most of the effects are just only detriments to the players without any upside. A tremor is going to matter that it also stuns automaton infantry when a gunship can just mow you down. Flying enemies (Gunships and Shriekers) have been in game for over a month, AND WE STILL DONT HAVE A SINGLE DEDICATED ANTI-AIR stratagem. And the semi-AA strat we did get just got nerfed because with gunships moving even faster now, they escape the explosion radius much faster and it takes 2 rockets to take it down.
    Remember the Menkent Line when we took Menkent and Lesath to act as a wall against the automatons, and get planetary defenses set up, and then the planets Immediately fell with the next major order where we had to do 10 planet defenses. The players didnt get any operation modifiers that helped in the planets defense. We didnt get free stratagem call downs for those planets defense. It effectively meant nothing. And then Joel just keeps taking planets for enemy factions by fiat without a chance to contest it with the current major order about to be failed because there isnt enough playerbase to even play the game. 4 planetary defense missions in like 4 days when we have about 1/3rd of the active player base that we had just 1 month ago. And all of these defense major order campaigns is getting tiresome, we have had 2 weeks of defense operations.

      I wouldn't try to blame a single dev who happens to be vocal in the discord. I've seen what people have said about him, but I think it's unfair to target the one vocal dev. There's lots on the weapon balance team, he's the one choosing to be vocal. If anything he's given us insight so we can have a conversation with them that makes more sense on our end what they are thinking.

    Its honestly amazing that the HD community has such a great CEO willing to go out with the people and really get a feel for what people want, its also amazing that seemingly all the hired people between us and him failed, from the CM's to the Head of balancing, which then required him to do what he is doing right now. Hopefully not only will HD2 get the patches the game deserves but also the employees this CEO deserves for a game he truly cares about.

      Well I imagine almost none of the old team of HD1 remained, its been 9 years after all. Its up to the CEO, who also envisioned the first game, to dictate the feel of HD2. I believe he has succeeded, but maintaining it is very difficult since there is some fundamental differences in HD2. For one, being third person means freedom of movement instead of the old top down where there's no splitting up. This make some original mechanics, such as the backpack reloading assist, much less viable because you're simply not that close to each other most of the time. HD2 has been very faithful to the first game so far, but that is actually the problem due to this fundamental difference.
      I am very curious on how they will implement APCs and tanks. In the first game you need all 4 players to operate them, one being the driver, one man the main cannon, and two will man the side guns. It works perfectly in HD1 but in HD2 I don't see 4 randoms being able to use them.

      ​@@Misfiring89I don't agree with your sentiments about vehicles. My 2500 hours on Gta5 taught me that you can pull up on just about anybody and they'll get in, no questions asked. The driver is the only one who really matters.
      My 3000 hours in sea of thieves showed me a crew of 4 randoms *who know what they're doing* have no problem running a ship even without communication. I think you're just really pessimistic, and perhaps it is you who is not playing within coherence if the team.
      A further roughly 3000 hours across vermintide 1,2, and darktide all taught me that if team coherence is needed, most people will play to that and stick together. You can't always expect random players to just know things, so using a mic and simply asking will fix most of these invented problems.

    Stratagem combos could use a place int he game, the developer made MAGICKA? Where you can combine all these elements to make different ones. But in Helldivers 2 we're here bringing a 500kg bomb down on a gas cloud and there's no chain reactions. It'd be so cool to set massive gas traps and then blow them up for a multiplier.

      You can do that. Mines are set off by things like strafing runs or or orbital barrage. Also using ems with napalm or gas stirke is great for clearing out grouped up enemies on low CD

      I still don't like him, he complains in such a way that it seems like all he wants is buffs buffs buffs. He speaks as if the game should be balanced around making solo helldive an easy experience. I respect those who want to take the solo helldive challenge, but I think a lone helldiver should inherently have an incomplete kit. One man or one weapon should not be able to do everything. Quasar pre nerf could kill all chargers and all bile titans with ease, titans took 2, chargers took 1. one stratagem to take out the two most threatening enemies with infinite ammo was a bit silly.
      edit: his typical video is him going into solo helldive with whatever just got nerfed and whining for 15 minutes about how hard it is. 3, even 2 man squads make the game trivial even on that difficulty, but I never see him testing with a friend.

    Words are one thing. Action is a whole other matter.
    I'll believe it when I see it. I played 3 games today and all 3 felt absolutely horrible. One SSSD extraction with the main terminal bugged, so 15 minutes down the drain. Second one, dropped into a solo game 6 minutes in. The dude is literally SWARMED by warriors, chargers and titans (diff 7). So yeah, didn't last long. Third one was a lobby with a itchy pocket clussy. 8 team kills is the highest i've seen so far.
    So I quit the game, only for it to freeze so I have to kill the app through the task manager. I legit laughed for a good minute. It's getting harder and harder to find a good reason to play. I don't think i'll buy the next warbond. Or at least, i'll buy it if most weapon aren't straight trash (Democratic Demolition was very underwhelming outside of the grenade pistol).

      Yep it's not only the guns, it's the mission killing glitches like dropping into a raise the flag mission and you can't even raise the flag, still haven't fixed the spear, still get flung inside the map, charger seem to have gotten more agile, and even when you walk around then now they just immediately turn on you..the change to stalkers is absolutely terrible when combined with the shotgun nerf. What's wrong with the game being fun? I've been on difficulty 8 for 2 or 3 weeks and had plenty of fun, tried different weapons, but these past few days I try to play and it's just annoying.

      The feeling I'm getting is ok I am using premium currency to buy weapons that they end up nerfing so hard that we end finding no reason to use them. That's the pattern. And my conclusion to that pattern is "why even get excited about warbonds anyway?" I could not buy any and my in game experience would be the same.

      the dmg buff feels redundant when you considered it went from one shot most bugs to taking a whole mag to kill a spewer and more or less half the mag for other medium bugs and to add insult to injury on top of its slow rate of fire and reload speed, they decide to half the mag capacity. they completely buried the eruptor. 10/10 borderlands reference

      I'd like extra functionalities to go with helmets, but rather than make it a passive exclusive to helmets, why not make it gear that you can choose before you drop? Such as NVG/Thermal vision?

    Deep rock has a great approach to balance. They kick down the outliers, but in general they try to bring things to the strength of their alternatives. Plus the dynamics with over-clocks is a little different so idk. It would be a good idea for them to reach out to Ghost ship games and get their balance philosophy from them. In my memory they have always done really well with balance.

      Always loved their ideology to balance since they did have to tune down some of the over performing builds and they don't use player data for those decisions unless it's because of certain overclocks just being buried under dust, example being manual guidance cutoff, literally completely useless until season 4 gave it a massive glow up with it being converted into rocker barrage making it my most played OC on the weapon

      There are some whifs with the balance in DRG like boomerang being OP af or explosive ammo being obviously superb OC on LOK rifle but overall there are enough of viable options to keep things interesting.

      That's what they are doing, they nerfed the OP railgun then buffed the UP railgun. The problem is players expect to be the ultimate 1 man army and weapons to be "viable" need to take on all comers which leads to it becoming a single player game with 3 other people to clear faster rather than a coop game. Whereas the devs are trying to balance it around, if teams do not cooperate they get overwhelmed and lose, which is where I also want the game.

      @@sirgaz8699 To be fair EVERY single enemy in DRG is suseptible to EVERY SINGLE GUN in the game. Efficiency may way from gun to gun and from enemy to enemy but its not like HD2 where you can be near helpless or completely helpless if your setup is wrong. HD2 forces you into one man army role pretty hard. I wont jump into mission without AT option and hope my teammate isnt some 70iq bloke and can actually can take care of heavies before they run me. Hell i cant even be sure guy will stay by my side at all.

Failing at coop should cause failure and that idiot running off wouldn't be running off if he couldn't run off alone and feel safe.

    Idk how many people touched on this but my biggest gripe is: spending super credits on a new warbond pass only to have the things that made me buy that pass get nerfed. Its like buying a porsche only to have it switched with an 08’ accord.

    speaking of buffing and nerfing through different metrics than damage: The reload cancel that saves 2 seconds per shot on the recoiless makes it WAY more fun to use. Not only does it save you 33% of the reload time, it also adds a small interactive element to the reload. The moment you crouch when the rocket goes in adds an element of anticipation and timing to the reload which makes it feel more engaging.

    I really do hope they take to hearts our feedback of "this gun does not feel fun". For example the case with the old Eruptor, it used to be slow and unwieldy but holy MOLY it was fun to use since you could chaff-clear + close things at long ranges. Now it just feels like a over complicated sniper rifle with zero "erupting".

      im not a fan of attacking specific employees based on their irl views. the cm's kept their political views out of the discord and the game, as we have seen. so they've done their job. as for the balance guy, he's not the only weapon balancing dev. he's just the one who's vocal in the discord. if anything im glad he gave his perspective because it gave us an angle to open up a conversation with them and come to this resolution. we're all people behind these screens, the only way we can understand eachother is if we talk.

      @@thiccfila personally I think it’s a bit reductive to say that I’m attacking him for his views when they clearly lied publicly on social media causing drama and issues for the company when there’s been other CMs fired for far less after this whole controversy.       they didn't lie on social media though, i posted 2 vids covering the entire psn linking thing, and the ceo confirmed what they were saying. psn was originally supposed to be in the game to manage the players from one source, and made it easier for them to do their job. i dont think they should have said they wanted it in the middle of the controversy tho, it was tone deaf.

Moreover if it was another person who wasn’t likely a diversity hire they more than likely would’ve lost their job for that. Just over the double-standards is all and there always a chance that censorship will creep its way into this game as it has so many others.

    We need to start downplaying weapons. I tried to with the Eruptor, but you youtubers just pump out videos with titles like "ZOMFBBQG! ERUPTOR SO OP! 3 SHOT BILE TITAN GG EZ NP" just so you can get a few thousand views, and we're all playing a worse version of the game because of it.

      This is exactly what I said in a comment on another video.
      I mentioned that youtube gamers are usually very good at the game and make it seem like some of these weapons are OP, when in fact it’s the gamer that’s OP. Devs ABSOLUTELY watch these videos and make decisions based on them and NOT just on the stats on their side. I know this because as a UA-camr myself, I see how influential videos are to major companies. Hopefully the Devs listen to the entire player base and not just OP game players on UA-cam. I’m not knocking UA-cam gamers, I love watching tips and tricks, but I also understand the at these gamers are far better than I am at gaming.

    The buff to the blitzer is a good example of how to buff a weapon without buffing damage. The increased firing speed by 50% made it a genuinely good option for a big option.

    I think if they ever were to allow the rail gun to one shot a bile titan again it should be only possible by hitting a weak spot only accessible from atop titan's back, for maximum fun and badassery. That way even though this completely broken thing it's only possible in a specific set of circumstances, those being your loadout is right, you have the right terrain, and the titan is actually close enough for you to jump pack onto it, and even then you might just insta-die when you jump on the titan. And I don't even think it's unfair to have that death zone on a titan's back sure it would make the risk vs reward be not great, but if you pull it off it looks fucking cool.

      The railgun 1 shot was a bug. It was always supposed to be around 3-4. Not being able to shred armor on a charger leg is just adding insult to injury. Railgun should be put back to launch stats with the bugs fixed making it kill to quickly. That's all they had to do.

      ​@@elimgarak1127right but think about it this way, it drops with 20 shots, so you need 3-4 to kill a bile, 2 to kill a charger, you're already 25 percent of the way through your ammo on 1 of each, and once you're into that 7+ range you're usually looking at 3 or 4 chargers and 2+ biles, so in the end you're going to run out of ammo either way.

      You have the same proportions of ennemy patrol as a solo player, a squad of 4 will have 4 times more squad than solo (if they didnt lie).

    Power creep is such a stupid argument in a game like helldivers where you get swarmed on higher difficulties.
    Also their argument is that you should avoid fights on the highest difficulty and play tacitcally = fun isnt allowed on higher difficulties.

      @@Steir12 There's a mechanic, if a bug starts calling in a breach in a group even if you kill it before, it automatically triggers another bug in the same group to call in a breach. It's like a chain reaction.

      sprintdivers has you holding the shift key 80% of the game and carpeting hordes with strategems. On higher difficulty there’s hardly ever a time to stand your ground.

    Another problem with the rate at which weapons are changed is that it's hard to even grasp if you're getting better, worse or the meta is just so fluid that you can't tell. It seems like I have to change how I play from week to week entirely around the whims of the devs in order to be effective.

    Yeah, there may have been more "buffs" than nerfs, but most of the buffs were basically meaningless or were such a small change that there was functionally no change. The nerfs gutted most of the weapons that were touched.

    Railgun didn't one shot Titans. It felt taht way because there is a bug with PS5 crossplay that it buffs certain damages through the roof, they just still havent realized taht.... So instead of fixing the bug they nerfed the gun into useless under the ground.

    helmet effects would be such a dope idea, the medic seeing player health, the recon having outlines on enemys and so on. i really want that to be put into practice. this might make people take more of a support role than a offensive role in the future

    I actually had an idea for a dedicated machine gun backpack stratagem a while back. Look up a picture of the Heavy Gunner class from Synthetik/Synthetik 2. That backpack thing he’s wearing? It’s called the Onslaught System. It’s basically a cylindrical belt feeder, like a miniaturized version of the ammo storage you see on a Phalanx CIWS. My idea goes as such: You call it in, hook it up to your machine gun of choice. You now have double the reserve ammo, and no longer need to reload the gun itself, at a slight penalty to movement speed and stamina consumption and regen, and changing the MG into a heat management weapon, with the weapon having a chance to jam if your heat gets too high. Instead of reloading the gun itself, you collect ammo and have to enter a stationary animation by holding the backpack function key, where every 2 seconds or so, you load another belt into a slot on the backpack, like feeding a dollar bill into a vending machine. You take the backpack off as you kneel down and load a belt, one after another into it, and you can cancel this animation at any time by releasing the backpack function key. If your heat gets too high while firing, and your weapon jams, you have to mash your reload key rapidly to clear the jam. For Stalwart and MG-43, you’d be fully mobile while clearing a jam, but for the HMG, due to the sheer size of the weapon, you’d have to kneel down and set the gun on the ground to clear the jam, but it’d be quicker than a full reload.
    This concept is designed to allow the Supply Pack to maintain its current niche while allowing machine gunners to maintain effectiveness over long engagements. Using a supply pack charge just to refill your machine gun is a bit of a waste when you don’t need primary ammo, secondary ammo, grenades or stims, plus, with any machine gun that isn’t the Stalwart, you’re still stuck with stationary reloads. An analogue to the Synthetik Onslaught System would be perfect for all my brother machine gunners out there.

    The thing they have a hard time understanding is that most people don't like change in general. It's rooted in human psyche. If it's a buff, you have a better time explaining change to your playerbase. A neutral change (is hard to prove and debatable; imagine increasing a strat's damage but also its cooldown) is still change and ruins the familiar for people who chose to run the option in the first place. A nerf is received like you just got diagnosed with some sort of negative medical condition.

    Agreed, balanced for fun. For a game where the enemies are almost endless, making you shoot them more than necessary makes the entire game feel like a chore. Using something like the Diligence on the basic bots is immensely satisfying when you just 1 tap 6 of them in quick succession close range. That is how I like the combat to feel for the trash enemies. Being inherently fun to shoot those enemies adds a lot. Making the primaries fun to blast the lower end enemies is pretty key.

    People really don't understand how insane it is to have a CEO that takes feedback and brings it to his team let alone admits openly that he's doing that, and conversing with his community. Even in the 'good old days' of gaming, this was rare. Strong approach to trying to bring trust back to his team, and the gaming industry in general. I hope more people in this industry follow the AH CEO's foot steps.
