    Great video coach. I love the quick trap. Makes the DL pay for flying up field. There's a reason why the Run and Shoot had this play for its main run.

    Great explanation that fits with clear X and O optics on the board. Thank you.

    I would like to see this drawn up with an H back in the right B-gap run from a Power Pistol set. Thank you.

    Are you worried about that play side d-end

    Why would you not fake toss the other way to open side? Would make LB over shift to get washed down.

      That works too. Teams tend to run toss to the Tight End, but as long as you get the backer's eyes up and moving it will help.

      Plus you get that DE on PS to go with the sweep action to his side

    Isn't this a base for the veer option?

    • @Joe4372
      @Joe4372  7 років тому +1

      Certainly could be. Every veer team needs something quick hitting to the fullback. I've seen trap more with wishbone, flexbone or I-bone teams than split back veer though.

      I only ask because i'm trying to put together some sort of a zone blocking scheme with a veer option. But all of the veer opt. offense is man specific.

      Also, is there a specific reason the trap is with the pulling guard and not the Y? if he kicks in he can seal the Tackle to the inside and you could hit either B-or-C gap.

      Different play. Inside trap is designed to hit A gap, what you're talking about is usually called a Wham play. Perfectly good play, just not the same thing.

    This play wont work against a 5-2

    • @Joe4372
      @Joe4372  5 років тому +1

      You long trap the 5-2 or any odd front. Down the nose, pull and kick the 5 tech, the tackle releases inside to the backer. You don't put plays in your playbook that "don't work" against one particular front. Every play has rules in any decent offensive system. There might be better plays, but every play should be able to be run.

      @@leonidassabr9197 When the guard is uncovered we make a 'long' call, but the rule is always to trap the first man head up to outside the guard. In an odd front that's the guy on the tackle.
