Absolutely great video, so much useful info packed into 15 minutes. As the D Coordinator and DLine coach I dded some of the drills to our EDD’s last season. We went 9-0 and and our D allowed a net of 18 points for the entire season. Thanks for posting this
My coach taught us a technique were we grab the o lineman’s pads and push them into his neck area so he’ll let go of us and it works really good for o lineman that are bigger than you
ha ha, comments too funny ;) But believe someone will eventually say something like, "I'm 165 lbs, 9th grade, work my butt off everyday, playing Varsity football OLine and was just named "All League" ... it's possible!
Jonathan simmons I think it depands on the couch but you should make a good DE work on the technique that you want to use the most during a game, I suggest a swim because of your height
Brandon Howard but having perfect technique every time is difficult especially when you're tired you add more weight if you make a mistake you aren't completely out of the play. I'm telling you right now any and every coach will say size and speed over technique you can teach someone to play football you can't teach size and speed
manuel jesus Unless you’re really strong I’d advice staying with running back. Or you can do defensive end, which is pretty easy compared to other O and D line postions
Andrew Platt It’s about your technique and balance (or leverage.) you don’t need to have great strength do dominate at any position at the high school level (although it does help.)
Logan Hess thank you man, i forgot about this comment. I’m now at 6’1 175, with a 220 bench. I really appreciate the input and if you have any secret advice I’d appreciate it😂😂😂
Hey anyone know where I can look at or what I can do to find a school that will teach me all the drills and training to teach little league football?....
my question is, Why are you so light and playing a linemen? Try and become a RB because you're awfully strong for someone who is that small. Try RB and get better at it!
Mass Shoe Plugs cuz some small guys have a lot of aggression and football is more of a mentality game. It's like a tank can still explode with a grenade even though its not a bazooka as an example lol
thanks man i hope to play defesive end but i rather like controlling the d linemen like sinnce i have played both sides so i understand there moves i study both side as i am whatching ur video i try to see what i can do if a defender is aginst me \ but i love the video thanks u
Going to be coaching varsity D line this next year and just ordered the full 40 min version of this video. Seems to have a ton of good, easy-to-follow content.
are you serious? When I was 13 I was 119lbs, ran the mile in 4:50, 3 mile in 16 min flat, and benched 230 (as max - also did 75lbs for 75 reps once at that age). Obv, I ran x-country, though (hence the stats). Football team were a bunch of pussies.
6'0" 336lbs (bench=376lbs)(40 yard dash=6.4) Nose Tackle / Center / Running Back, why do you teach the o line to grab? we get taught to punch for pass protection but do you grab for run protection or am I just being taught something wrong? I'm big but I'm agile and fast so I just want to know if what I'm dong is right or wrong?
run protection you grab and drive, so now you have more control then just punching them over and over, don't hold but get underneath their pads, stuff them into their neck and drive the opposite direction the ball is going
@Rhyan really? The kid was asking a question not seeing who has better size or sounds better just by your comment your prob thinking this kids a dud smh
+Robert Hatfield You are a good size for Defensive Tackle. Since you're only 15, you may grow a couple more inches. If you have a good feet, hands, and some strength, you'll get a lot of attention from scouts.
+Patrick Wise thanks man I also appreciate the help, at the high school we are doing weight training but the coaches told me I'm a linemen and I will find out this summer if I'm offense or defense.
Brandon Lopez my nephew is 5'6 185lbs starting DE on varsity, and will be a senior. He is a 2yr starter on varsity. It's not always the size that will make you better. It's the Heart and quickness that coaches like to see. You will be fine just continue to work hard in the off-season , and work on footwork and hand techniques.
Excellent demonstration of how to use kinesiology to teach proper technique. The primary emphasis is on teaching the body through instilling an understanding of fundamental locomotion rather than using an approach that teaches the player to approach playing like they’re using a recipe to cook or a blueprint to build a house. That analytical aspect of it is fine as far as it goes-for a certain type of more cerebral player that can be a nice supplemental teaching tool. But on the most fundamental level it’s about getting players to be able train their bodies to move and react in the most efficient manner possible. Teaching the body to move to play football well is primarily is about teaching the body how it is prone to move under a specific set of conditions than it is about formulating a recipe or any set of rote instructions. Grabbing the steering wheel is something every person understands fundamentally without having to think about it.
RIP Coach Pease. It was a pleasure playing for you and I learned a lot about life as well as football.
