- I purchased this Lister D petrol (gasoline) engine that came on a trolley with an Aerograph air compressor.
This video details the work done to the magneto so far. unfortunately the repair did not work as the Coil did not work so it had to be sent to rewinding.
They were used in the village forge in Cullworth (northaptonshire).
I would be interested to hear from people who either have seen this running or know of similar setups in forges.
I would also welcome information on some of the things shown in the video such as the handles on the trolley.
Please get in contact if you know anything about aerograph compressors especially if you have technical drawings.

Great video. I’m currently having the same issues.
I had to send the coils to be rewound as they were totally corroded inside.
It's almost safe to assume that an original coil will be dead. When manufactured, they had an expected working life of around 10 years. Many have lasted decades beyond this. Most are green with corrosion inside. A rewind will see the magneto ok for another lifetime.
Indeed! That is what I ended up doing and it resolved the problem!
I had to rebuild but still had no spark after a closer look I found that the condenser was close to one of the distributors caps contacts at bit of tape sorted it
Good tip there to check those details!
You have to time the points cam correctly to the magnet otherwise you'll get a weak spark or no spark...!
Yes absolutely! However in this particular case it was the coil.
