This guy is playing Persona while not playing Persona but still has to go through the 100 hours to play Persona and that's kinda impressive... Nice video!
This sort of run is pretty common in the smt community and are called "low-level" runs, but I'm pretty sure they usually mod the game so that they can't get exp but can still get money from normal fights.
I love reading the comments I get, and there's a lot of nice and insightful ones out there! The video may be old, but as long as I see comments I think are rad I'll be hearting em!
This might be too easy, but considering how much Confidants give you throughout the game, and wind up being VITAL to many of these P5 challenge runs, lemme ask: Is it possible to beat the game without leveling ANY Confidants? Rules: -Any Confidants that are automatically increased throughout the story (Morgana, Igor, a handful of Party Members getting to level 1 etc.) are allowed, but none else! -DLC isn't allowed -Complete the game on New Game. Probably Merciless.
Although a neat idea, I think it wouldn’t be all too interesting in terms of difficulty. In my Solo Joker/Arsene video, I only completed 3 non forced confidants(Kawakami, Takemi, and Chihaya), and in this video I practically only did party members, so I feel as though it’s definitely possible, and that with those rules as is, there wouldn’t be much of a challenge 😅
@@TatsuHaven I beat the game in Hard NG+ at what _I Believe_ is the minimum possible level. Unless there was an EXP boost I forgot about (I didn't carry over Mishima's Documentary Plans for this reason), I ended with MC at level 75 with 597,094 EXP total. The final levels of the others, in order in the Stats menu, were 70, 69, 72, 72, 74, 72, 77, 77, and 74.
I think I can say that Merciless difficulty in the *original* _Persona 5_ is harder (or at least more grindy) just by itself, let alone low-level style. Primarily because it has an EXP penalty instead of the boost it gives in _Royal._ So, my idea is: what if it's possible to low-level P5R Merciless while constantly editing your save so as to divide newly earned EXP by 3 (which should even out to 40% when applied to the 20% boost, if my math is correct) and reduce levels appropriately? I would try this myself, but of course I'm not willing to get a save editor if it actually costs money (and is apparently the only available software for decrypting and re-encrypting the files, even if another hex editor or something can handle the actual editing).
@@ntrg3248 So, with the announcement of the upcoming PC port for P5R, I feel like it miiiiight potentially become possible to attempt the run by changing the EXP multiplier for Merciless difficulty to 1.2x/120%/etc. to 0.4x/40%/etc.... Also, do you have any idea how significant a difference one's level (dis)advantage impacts damage dealt and received? Here's an explanation from Jack Benci (athough the demonstration may have some missing multipliers, also assuming it's even accurate): ua-cam.com/video/iDyobflWK9s/v-deo.html
My speculation is that Maruki is somewhere between level 85 and 90 (possibly one of those two exactly). My reasoning: -The true final boss of Persona 4 (and P4 Golden) is level 90. -The highest-level shadow in Maruki's palace is Fafnir at 86 (both savage shadow and will seed guardian forms), which is pretty close to both the numbers I speculated. (Although, if he's somewhere in between, he wouldn't be the first SMT final boss whose level is neither 99 nor a high multiple of 5; the first instance of such a boss that comes to my mind is the true final boss of _Strange Journey Redux,_ who is level 88 for some reason).
Can You Beat Persona 5 Royal as an Pacifist ? 1: Tutorials or some FORCED fights where you cant negotiate are allowed 2: No killing ennemies always either Recrute them Get Money Or Get An Object (No Insta Kill Ryuji Abillity it doesnt mean you are not allowed to rank up with ryuji, just never use Insta Kill) 3: Do It On Hard (Because doing it on Merciless would be impossible) 4: If you break an rule then either die or restart last checkpoint 5:No sacrificing Personas, fusing them etc (Because it Kills them!!)
yes, i've done that easily with my second playthrough, if you play smart it's actually easy as fuck, tho in the very first run i remember i had to grind a lot in a pair of occasion, so yeah i think it's a matter of knowing the game first
@@minefish P4G was just a generally simpler game in comparison to P5, and as such the bosses weren’t too complex either. A lot of P5’s bosses required me to retry the battle at least once (and in the case of okumura, many times) and since I was still new to persona I didn’t understand fusion that much so I didn’t get to make that many overpowered personas. For a beginner I’d say P4G is easier but for experienced players P5 would probably be easier.
I've seen a run of _Persona 4 Golden_ that was done on Very Hard, with only mandatory battles fought (meaning only Izanagi was available since there are no forced battles that trigger Shuffle Time). And only the protagonist gained EXP from each battle until ~maybe the fourth dungeon boss. Sadly, the runner seems to have deleted the channel...but I at least have their saves. :) A lot of it was done by using fixed-damage items (since the dealt damage with both the level penalty and the Damage Given modifier set to Less is horrendous), Physical/Magic Mirrors (since the Damage Received modifier being set to More amplifies reflects), and high evasion with Super Sonic items and Masukunda from Kanji (available at Emperor rank 4). The lategame relied on Barbaric Bracers from rare chests in a late dungeon, as well as several party members' unique abilities in the third semester. It was pretty crazy to see that done, and I'm currently not in a position to record challenge runs myself (due to being away from home for weeks at a time). In the meantime, I've been doing a mandatory-battles-only playthrough on Very Easy by myself; it's actually more challenging than it seems on paper, since the level gap still means that the party members take a lot more damage (although most attacks are usually survivable, unlike on Very Hard). On the upside, the party still deals reasonable damage even *with* the level gap (so far).
I don't think you should exclude ambushes in this challenge, because even if a person, either casual or not doesn't like to grind, occasionally they'll face regular minions even when trying to avoid them, and since it's not on purpose, shouldn't count as grind
Wait… you were supposed to grind? I guess merciless has the 1.2x EXP gain but still, apparently I not only didn’t know I was on Merciless until Shido, but I didn’t even know I was supposed to be grinding 🙈
I just went with the grinding = no unnecessary battles / no extra EXP route of thinking, but the grinding = “repetitive actions” way is valid too. I stayed away from Mishima’s confidant to minimize exp gain though and just stuck to in-party party member confidants/3rd semester confidants. Probs should’ve called this a Low Level run instead but that that idea didn’t come to me til months later. Funny enough doing Ryuji’s confidant and getting instakill made going through mementos kind of funny cuz I had to avoid instakill-ing shadows and having to reset lol

The one time Merciless difficulty is actually harder than Hard difficulty💀
Actually, without a boost to Baton Pass his DPS could've been not big enough to finish bosses before he runs out of hp

But its a good Challenge for non speedrunners , so good job !
about Rule 1 : if you avoid every single non forced fight , how do you even recruit any demons ...
now i consider grinding as a method that describes mindlessly slaughtering the same enemies over and over again , just for the sake of getting exp / money and so on ... so you could still allow sidequesting
if you avoid all encounters and dont recruit any personas , thats not just "no Grinding" , thats also a "no recruit" challenge ...
