    This guy is freaking awesome. Thanks for actually taking you time to explain. Most people will just confuse you, they don’t really care. All they want is views. This guy is different, he genuinely wants to help and takes his time to explain. Thank you man.

    just got back in after 12 years... wow what a change, got a stampede 2wd with 25 spur, 86 pinion, 4000kv brushless and 85 amp esc 5200 2s lipo.. i cant even control it 🤣

    • @2RCPRODUCTIONS

      😂 Yeah the speeds are crazy now! Thats the name of the game now just like real cars but it doesn’t have to be that way to be fun still. Pick yourself up a vintage Tamiya kit like a lunchbox for instance. The kits are a blast to build! That stampede is a Great choice btw. Thanks for checking out the video and for Watching! Welcome back to the hobby!

      John Thanks a lot Brother!! No worries I've said it before on my channel many times that I started the channel to help people out who are new to RC or where I could to get awareness of the hobby out there. I offer free information to the best of my ability and most people are really cool but you always will have some people that are never satisfied no matter what. I personally have never thumbs down a video if I don't like it I turn it off lol. Thanks again for the comment and for checking out the video!!

      People hate on everything, it`s the internet, why even ask..
      Anything around 10% dislikes is a very good result for any video.
      If everything is perfect, 10% dislikes is about what you can expect..

    This video somehow started playing while watching stuff about 9/11 conspiracy theories. And I must admit I am not mad. You were able to explain how gear ratios work in one of the funniest ways I have ever heard. I have dabbled in the world of RC for about 25 years now and I am happy that you took the time to explain something for newer people. Since I don’t know you, please accept a virtual hi 5 for the comedic value you presented while getting your point across.

    Really kind of you to take the time to explain some gearing basics. I just recently started playing with gearing & purchased a variety of pinions & spurs. I just popped in today a 31/83 setup. I'm going for speed runs to see how fast can I push this current titan 12t before I upgrade to brushless. I want to at least hit 50mph w this guy. If I manage, I will for sure make a video showing others how to pull it off & send a shout out to your channel for those who need a lil schooling on gear ratios! 👍
    Keep'on bashing bro!

    I just got into the hobby and did the opposite, I stripped the spur on my rustler VXL somehow, ordered a 90 and the top speed was crazy...I broke so many things bashing in the last month I've figured out how to take everything apart and fix it...I've ordered parts lots and extra everything because it's so cheap...such an awesome hobby...the only thing I really broke is a rear shock tower? The little metal piece that goes in into the middle of the shock , and they're big bore ...keep the videos coming and I subscribed

    The spur is for torque, bigger the spur t the bigger the torque, on street you don't need a lot torque even on dirt, only on sand. use the wide small gear 4 offroad with paddle tires. and your good 2 go

    This comment is for Rc addict I wasn't able to answer your comment. the stock motor is going to give you decent all around power. I run a 8.4 NiMH 3000 pack and it has great all around power definitely a major improvement over the 6 cell. I get 1 and a half hour run times on the trail. You could run a lipo if you want for more punch.

    A definitally am a newbie and am searching for knowledge. This video was very educational for me. You should make a video about the max powered batteries you can use on a traxxas slash 4x4 with a voleneon motor. Please, I have been stuck on this for weeks. I'm trying to decide between a couple of batteries but I'm afraid of overheating. I would like to use the highest powered battery I can but don't know what it is.

    • @2RCPRODUCTIONS
      @2RCPRODUCTIONS  6 років тому

      Chiron Keller Since you have a Traxxas they line it out very clearly for you. Lipos can be unstable and you have to watch out for heat within the esc as well as the motor and gearing plays a part as well. The Traxxas manual should line you up for the gearing and speed combo. I would run no more than the highest cell count that Traxxas recommends and I personally would use Traxxas batteries as well. They design their vehicles with motors ESC s and battery combos that will work. Then at Max recommended cells I would monitor the heat on the electronics carefully to make sure you don't overheat I would personally go one cell rating less than they say is Max to have trouble free operation. If you notice it heating up drop the pinion down a couple teeth and that should help. BTW Watch the lipos and store them in a fire proof box they can potentially burn.Thanks for Watching the video!!

    You bet, I'm in the process of building my first speed car using a 2wd slash. I went with a hobbywing max8 esc and motor combo 2200kv. Going to run a 34 tooth pinion and a 36 tooth spur. Haven't picked out batteries yet. The problem I'm having is the stock transmission housing wont accept the motor because of the pinion and spur gears. Would you happen to know of a transmission housing that might work? Any information would be appreciated.

    • @freddymatiskam9395
      @freddymatiskam9395 3 роки тому +1

      the spur tooth and pinion tooth are almost even, the pinion should have more teeth than the spur....if it's even the motor will get overheat and you not gonna perform good

    I like your content !!
    Im new to the electric world of rc. I've been a nitro guy for 14 years and never strayed away. A buddy of mine who races buggy class convinced me to go get a brushless kit. So i just finished it. its an HB d413 loved building it.
    But the mesh is really bugging me. I got the 48p pinion which is what the manual recommends. But maybe its my motor throws me off or something. The motor is an 8.5 turn motor. so spinning it is very notchy you can really feel every turn of that thing. And what happens when im meshing it there is this feeling almost like binding because you feel that motors shaft almost have that binding affect from how notchy it is. It seems to drive fine and doesnt run hot. But when i physically feel it, it just feels odd. I guess im used to my nitro stuff where the clutch bell spins completely freely which allows me to really feel that gear mesh.

    • @2RCPRODUCTIONS
      @2RCPRODUCTIONS  7 років тому +1

      Review Guy Thanks Brother!! Yeah you will have a little of that going on but you have the knowlege from Nitro which is much more difficult to work with. As long as your mesh is good I do by feel but the sheet of paper method is good, you will be fine.You also stated that the motor is running cool always make sure your esc is keeping cool as well. I'm not a brushless guy but with certain brushless motors you can get alot of cogging at low rpm which can give you notchy jerky affects. Thanks for checking out my Vids!!

    • @CarsnStuff
      @CarsnStuff 7 років тому +1

      No problem !
      Yeah thankfully its a sensored motor so its very smooth when im actually giving it throttle. Like soon as throttle is applied its nice and smooth i guess its just the sound and feeling of the brushless low turn motor.
      Thankfully my esc came with an optional fan which ofcourse im gonna add that. and then the nice thing about the body i have is it happened to have a opening right where my esc goes so when im up to speed the esc is getting a good rush of air flow.
      I bought a 5 pack of 48p pinions from horizon for like 10 bucks and im testing out different setups. im really liking the 19t . im aiming for alot of bottom end since im only going to be at the track !

    Thanks for this video. I'm just getting into RC cars. I just got a rustler for christmas but decided to get an "indoor car". Unfortunately, I saw your video on the ECX Torment 1/24 too late. I should have it tomorrow and hope that it doesn't break. It looks like the HPI baja 1/32 is highly rated but not the best for wood floors. Anyhow, I've watched a few of your videos and they've been helpful. Also, thanks for the great analogy with the bike for the gear ratios.

    In listening to what you said, am I to assume that if the motor is overheating it'll because either the spur is too small or the pinion is too big?

    • @2RCPRODUCTIONS
      @2RCPRODUCTIONS  4 роки тому

      Generally too large of a pinion or spur or combination would contribute, and all applications are a little different thats why its good to test or follow guidelines from a manufacturer like traxxas that does the homework for you👍. Thanks for Watching!

    I'm not a racer but my dad's stampede has been having turning issues, it seems to try to turn and will turn about 1/3 of the way to both sides, then it'll stop for a while and turn normally, the other issue is with it completely disconnecting from the controller, I've rebound it a couple times, kinda thinking we got a dud controller.

    • @2RCPRODUCTIONS
      @2RCPRODUCTIONS  7 років тому

      Yeah could be the controller receiver or servo. Try a different radio if you can and see if the servo works fine? Traxxas radios are usually pretty trouble free but it's possible? Thanks for Watching the video.

    • @Brandon-ei2ws
      @Brandon-ei2ws 7 років тому

      It seems to just be when you go full throttle right off the start, like when you just completely press down the throttle. Thats the only time it disconnects.

What gears would u recommend without burning anything up yet

    high rpm 2kw motor . kinda for final hear . but. my problem is I'm chain feeding back wheel and I've got a 6mm diameter on my motor shaft. and we'll
    I do know what to order to get a sproket. that will fit. ,with out having to weld it. (I need a rc style pinion but with chain teeth. ) any help ??

    Great vid. Thanks! So I just got my first rc truck, a 1/18 traxxas teton. Bougt two hobbywing 18A esc easy run motors. One is a 12T 7800kv with 10t pinion and a 18T 5200 kv with stock 9t pinion. 60t HR steel spur gear. You Got any advice for me on the pinion gears? I'm gonna buy another 12t motor to make it more even.

      Im not familiar with the teton as far as gearing in the gearbox etc or how your brushless motors will run with your combo. Get an infrared thermometer do some speed runs and monitor temp. Thanks for checking out the video!! And I appreciate the Great comment!!!😀👍👍

    I've been looking for some good info on the gearing, this one of the best ones I've found. I got a 2wd slash brushed, I'm new to this rc stuff but I have some time with gears and off road set ups. Can you give some tips for motors? I like sliding it around in the dirt and I want a little more jump to it. How could I get that.

    • @2RCPRODUCTIONS
      @2RCPRODUCTIONS  7 років тому

      Kris m Thanks a lot for the compliment and for Watching the video!! Okay now to the slash, I'm assuming your running a nimh battery if that's the case get a 7 cell 8.4 volt pack. Next step down your pinion a few teeth and see if you like the results. So if you have an 18 tooth pinion try a 15 the gear change along with the seven cell pack will make a huge difference! The stock 12 turn Titan makes good power just remember to do a proper breakin on your brushed motors when new, I have a detailed video on this process as well. The Titan motors come with a cooling fan built in and are 550 series which have a slightly longer armature which gives you more torque than a 540 can of the same turn and specs. Always break in new brushed motors for optimum performance and longevity they require after run maintenance especially in dirty running conditions which I outline in that same video....
