- Gaansaraswati Kishori Ravindra Amonkar (10 April 1932 - 3 April 2017) was a leading Indian classical vocalist, belonging to the Jaipur gharana, or a community of musicians sharing a distinctive musical style. She was a performer of the classical genre khyal and the light classical genres thumri and bhajan. Amonkar trained under her mother, classical singer Mogubai Kurdikar also from the Jaipur gharana, but she experimented with a variety of vocal styles in her career.

The person who taking the interview is not cabale to take it, it should be a person who has depth in music, which I think is not here

@@mkc_98 agreed, one does not need to have deep knowledge of Indian classical music to interview a great classical musician, rather a good preparation and planning is generally enough.
Absolutely correct....he is not even letting her complete what she wants to say.... She is talking about emotions and the person is far away from that word.
Don't know how to adequately thank the good soul who uploaded this! Such videos may not be viewed by masses. But to those who do, they are simply invaluable! One could never tell the enormity of influence and experience serious viewers and devotees of art derive from them! She belongs to rare cadre of using music to reach God.
She was not putting up an act. I can see her eyes, they don't speak an inch of care for fakeness. She's pure. I relate with kishori tai. I love her gaze, seems like she's looking far away, but in reality she's staring her own soul. She's beautiful in the sense of presense. She's bliss. She's the purity I will to achieve.

What a sad guy to be interviewing (or more like interrogating) her! The level of his questions, the tone, the sharp cutting interruptions, the swift sudden change from one topic to another completely unrelated one, as a listener this was truly besura. if only someone grounded and with a depth had conversed with her..

Exactly my thoughts.
She has such a mystical personality. I attended one of her concerts in JNU (my father was a professor). I was simply mesmerized. I forgot exactly what raag (it was some mishra raag). The komal D was different at different places. I though it was something wrong with the speakers. I was sitting next a friend (a professional musician) and asked him about it. He said she is using D shruti from different raags that compose the mishra raag. I am obviously too small a person to comment about her music. But that concert, I realized I was in presence of something which you can't touch...

I completely agree that the interviewer has no depth nor understanding about Indian philosophical concepts on which Pndita Kishoriji is touching upon. Wondering why her time is wasted on this interview.
Not every great artist is an intellect. Imho the reason Kishoritai achieved her status was because of her analytical way to look at music, peel it apart, question and learn from every aspect of it. Her thoughts are clear and concise and she can articulate it very well in Hindi, English or Marathi. And of course through the language of swaras.
The intellect that you are referring has taken inspiration from her Atma or Soul.Indeed Soul and soulful music and soulful singer engulfs intellectual perception.
She explained real purpose of music to reach Parmatma by manifestation of our feelings through music. Very motivating and this interview changed the aspects of my life. Thank you Guruma

Today all I can hear is noise being called as songs, just listen to Kishori Maam, she explains the philosophy behind music and the emotional and spiritual connection it forms, and look at today's artists, smoke weed and create random beat and add bullshit lyrics..... This is a great interview of a great personality of Indian music. It touches the roots of classical music. And brings forth so transparent feelings of Kishori ji, just wonder to watch.
I just couldn't see the Full interview.. such Great soul, such great Artist, an epitome of Indian classical music and someone with in depth knowledge of Advait being interviewed by mundane minds. The interviewers have such an foolish and interrogative tone. I really wish if I could be there to touch her feet and show the interviewers their place.😔😔

Her eyes seem to look into endless distance and yet it feels like her eyes are searching something in her own self. She's pure. Jitne baar bhi ye video dekhta hun, Interviewer ko juute maarne ki icha hoti hai. Such a horrible way to ask questions, frequent interruptions, bad choice of questions zero knowledge about subject, insulting the speaker (although unintentionally) and what not 😅

Very nicely explained. Also nothing is wrong in an interviewer. He is asking correct questions respectfully. She stops not because she didn't like his question. I have met her and listened many times. It is her style . She stops sometimes and keeps on thinking over it thouroughly and then speaks. If he was not capable, she would have never allowed him to interview her. So please don't blame him. Instead try to understand what she speaks and why? Think over her views only.

Excellent exposition of merging with Advaita ❤️ sukh dukkha is the same continuom of Anand, merging is achieved only by loosing our Ego identity. Initially Samradny refused any demonstration but the interviewer let her be in her egoless space and then the divinity prevailed. A rare memories captured in this Gem of philosophy of Life. 👌👌👌

The question they ask are ridiculous (hilarious, "What is bliss?") etc. Half of the interview is spoiler by the irritation it generates in our mind. How could Kishori tai bear such a person?? My humble request to the interviewer is to listen attentively to the interviewee. Interviewer must flow with the interviewee and ask questions in that flow not change the topic abruptly. Also gaps of silence are very important for what has been said, to sink in and allow the interviewee to settle down and change the course or direction of the flow. But wonderful
