I am not even qualified to write a comment about respected Kishori tai. Will just say to her, "Thank you for gracing the earth with your presence and heavenly voice and singing".

Someone asked me, do you wish to visit the space and touch the stars? I said I already did. He was shocked. He asked me how? I said I listened to Kishori Amonkar and Nikhil Banerjee and I feel like I’m in heaven amidst the beautiful stars.
Agree 100%. I have been blessed as at 93 I do remember the umpteen in concert performances of these two phenomenal interpreters of Indian classical music. They were not just performing artists.
When all roads close..tai's shuddh nat paves a new road,a new hope. Tai is immortal .No words left. The beauty of the raag itself and the sweetest ever voice of tai !! 😭🤌 That piharava at 28:29 is just 😭
Heartfelt thanks for rendering this service to one like me and many others, who ,I believe, can spend years together simply listening to TAI,and not doing any other thing.
It's so heavenly to realise that Tai always used her concerts as an exceptional way to learn and to teach. At 25:49, how she acknowledges that she missed the sam. Our very own wonderful Tai. It's a huge loss to the world that she is no more.
@@basantikedar You need to listen and count again. She misses half a beat. It's okay. It is an intensive cerebral exercise, singing within strict guidelines and counting at the same time. Every big vocalist has faltered once or twice. I just happened to notice it and tried to put some light on her modesty as a performer, preacher and a learner.
So true... I wish Government had given her Bharat Ratna... She was truly a Gem!! Many times I think the same thing again while listening to her, that "Gaan Saraswati" is so appropriate name given to her!! We will always miss you!!
A great recital. She had also sung this for us many years later and it was rewarding to camper the two. Unchanged in its alluring melody and lyrical appeal. God Bless this noble soul. N. K. Singh

I don't really understand this music but I can tell she is a true artist. Mesmerizing, soulful performance.

She does not miss the sam. The tabla player goes off-beat - she just indicates that to the tabla player

Yeah I just counted too. Her reaction is adorable though 😍❤️
I think the tabla player is Ramakant Mhapsekar her regular accompanist. Shudh nat is totally different than I have heard recently. It is beautiful.

Any chance there would be a recording somewhere?
A pure 100% delight listening to the Great Kishori. Although the video is Old; Old is Gold.

Kishoritai looks very young in this! She had come to U. S. in 1984 and Maya Upadhye was on Tanpura. Could this be from that time?
I had this recording in 1982 from a collector in NY, Atma Gidwani. I recall her Festival of India performances in the States in 1985; mostly Yaman.
@@prasenjitduara686 It was from the Chicago concert during the Festival of India tour in 1985. How can you have this recording from someone in 1982?
