Manon: using some specific muc off product to expel water from places. Ollie: good ol' WD40 does the job.
WD-40 _is_ a specific product for doing that. The "WD" part stands for "water displacement".
I live in a High-Rise and dont have a yard SOOO I shower with my bike when its time for a clean.
Steps from video;
1. Wet the bike
2. Degrease drivetrain, spray while rotating cranks backward on the chains links, ceramic speed, cassetes.
3. Get the huge brush for the cassette and chains, and tooth bursh for the small jockey wheel on ceramic speed and on the space between wheel and rim brakes pad.
4. Cover bike with soapy foam, and leave the soap and degreaser for 5 minutes.
5. Rinse the whole bike with water
6. Microfibre cloth to wipe down the water and dry it
7. Use the bike care product eg: ceramic coating etc.. then buff it up with microfiber cloth
8. Lube chain, apply it link by link, on the inside buttom part, DON’T FORGET TO USE CLOTH AND RUN IT UNDERNEATH TO WIPE THE EXCESS LUBE!
ENJOY :D
Thank you! Is how you clean your own bike?
Thanks!
Manon: (actually makes the bike muddy then clean it)
Ollie: the bike is clean but imagine it's aBsoLuTEly FilThY
😂
😂😂😂
Si: Oh a spec of some muc... better bust out a can of the good O'l WD-40!
Watch Tom last wash
Can we use regular tap water or is there any recommendation for bike-specific H2O from Muc-Off?
kioan yes try muc-offfs new M-h20-94 miracle water only £12.99 per litre
You jest but there ar companies selling "De Ionised" water for car valeters and window cleaners
Sean Lyon I actually have an RO unit for my aquarium and car detailing.
I hear they have some new dehydrated water.....just add water and you're good to go.
@@Danrandon900 just add water 👍
Pro tip. Don't put your nearly new bike computer on top of your car while you wash your bike only to forget about it and drive off for it never to be seen again.
Yes, but racks and a freeway/motorway can be a great way to dry after cleaning.
Why you need car? you have a bike.
@@nicklame2647 not everyone can or wants to get away with that.
That’s where I like to keep my cell phone too
Also, after a pleasant ride, don't choose a picnic spot under trees when you have bikes on your roof rack.
It's all about "presentation" We love riding our bikes so let us put that energy of passion while we pamper our machine. Congrats Manon on class presentation👍🌟
The old one hour tune up video with banana-Si from 2014 isch (back in the day when Tom Last actually rode a bike😂) is a lot more in-depth one how to deep clean your bike. I would recommend that. It is great! I’m more thorough on my 5 min quick clean than shown in this video...
I just love all of GCNs bike cleaning videos, from Si’s quick one to this. But this one was one the best. I don’t know why I love watching bike cleaning videos so much, but I do. Help!
Dont spray silicone nearby your brakes guys xD just spray toptube and lowertube, use a cloth to spread it over the frame. Cheers
So basically a Muc Off commercial :)
I was thinking the same. The worst thing is that they already made a video (I believe Simon) showing that a pressure washer doesn't damage the bearings.
It does say at the start of the video in the bottom left corner. That this video is a paid promotional video. Obviously by Muc Off. But there products are amazing, ive used them for years now and will carry on using them.
Who washes a bike with a hose? You might as well toss your rig in pond then let it driy in the sun
Very poor commercial tho - inaccurate in many ways - dislike
Great job. Yes this was an ad for Muc-Off but we all got the point.
Yes. Got the point. This beast can save 30 min per week of my life!
I always find muc off product a lot more expensive than the rest, I've used Pedro's, finish line, and Morgan blue, and they work just fine.
I thought they had to state paid promotion at the start?
Traffic film remover , TFR diluted will do the same.job ! Steam.cleaner does 99 % of the work
@@martinheath5976 it had a message at start, GCN always do. They are pretty blatant adverts but can be useful tips (let's be honest, how many of us can't clean our bikes? Just watching as it's GCN).
A deep clean would have involved removing the wheels and cranks and maybe even the cassette... 😬
This was a fine muc off commercial tho. I'm sure muc off will come out with an air gun soon 🤣
When applying the Silicon spray, should we avoid the braking surfaces?? Manon sprays with on the wheels when spraying the forks and chainstays.
Yes. Be careful, especially with disc brakes. That stuff contains silicone and PTFE. This video shows the trivial stuff without actually telling the issues/caveats.
Yes, I cringed just watching the silicone spray section. Before getting that stuff anywhere near the bike, remove the wheels and cover the calliper (rubber gloves works). For disc brake bikes, if you get that on the brakes you will likely need new pads and have to throughly clean the discs. Rim brakes will need thorough cleaning up with alcohol.
@@TrailBikeMike yeah. These are exactly the things beginners need to know, and this video forgets.
@@TrailBikeMike Same here! Very key point missed in this video. I have a rim brake road bike and the thought of getting that spray on the wheels is frightening!!
@@TrailBikeMike had the same thoughts too
Only Manon can make cleaning a bike look like a mucking good time!
…and now for the behind the scenes showing how the dirt got on the bike in the first place.
Sponsored by Muc-On!
Someone threw a bucket of mud on it.
1:10 first water hits the cassette to immediately reveal gleaming drive train.....
I know right out the shop lol
3:49 Don't spray siliconspray over your brake tracks on the wheels. It will severely affect your braking!
She said faster, not safer...
The only comment that need to be read!
Well I am pretty sure there is a Muc-Off-product to remove that and I guess that will be presented in a follow-up... ;-)
I NEVER pressure wash any bike or two wheeled machine due to possible bearing problems. I might use a low pressure harden hose here or there, but normally dish-cleaning soap, bucket and rag or the first go-over. Then I use that Amourall cleaning wipes and finish with the Armourall wax wipes. I also use said wipes for a quick clean and Ive found if I do that every 2nd or 3rd shred the bike stays cleaner overall, Never wax the rims if you are using rim brakes though...takes a while and a few stop-sign runs to burn that stuff off....enjoyed the vid.
This gurl melts my heart

@@Langor Yes. Both the post and my reply are exaggerations. Kudos for being so literal you couldn't get the point, and for responding to a year-old post.
@@jaydesimone4297 I'm glad i could be of help. I'll be here all week
I could watch Manon read the phone book. Precious!
The quickest way to dry the bike is to use a leaf blower
Works like a charm, especially in the winter months.
Or you can try the special Muc-Off bike dryer! It will keep your bike in better condition and faster!
Tip for chain lubing if youre not using bike specific lube (wich are mostly colorless)
Srep 1: find the master link
Step 2 : start lubing at the front end of master link
*continue lubing until u arrive at back ent of master link*
When my bike gets wet i turn it upside down when i get home, quite a lot of water can run out from various places, i would do the same with a wet wash, most of the time i use williams waterless wax wash to avoid getting the bike wet too often.
For me, the original bike wash videos from Si were more informative when I was a new rider (even the WD-40 5min wash).... Makes me miss the "off the back" series recapping older content that's still great
Can you do a video about how to put your shoes on, I’m having problems using the boa dials
Park tool rightly suggested to clean the seat post before clamping onto the stand or you'll scratch it. Go watch the park tool video guys.
Omg washing a actually dirty bike for once
They never have a properly dirty chain or cassette from miles of cycling with grease and crud on these sorts of video. Always a basically clean which has been already cleaned a few days before
@DefinitelyNotDan I don't see the difference. The point of the video is the process involved. If the bike had been truly dirty from riding, it still would have been edited down to these basic points...it wouldn't have been 4x as long because more work was needed to actually clean the bike. The magic soap example you give is different because the product is claiming to be better at cleaning rather than the process involved.
Also, why does it matter that the bike was brand new and provided by a sponsor? Does that mean the dirt comes off easier?
Si is probably not impressed by the lack of WD40 involved
I live in an apartment and I don't have access to a hose. Instead I use a lawn and garden sprayer. It also has the advantage of not having an overly powerful spray that will drive water into the bearings.
Manon, I love you!
Most expensive bike clean ever! Using a full bottle of Muc Off bike wash for starters. I make a bottle last a year. 👍
Best thumb video with Manon 😁
Did you really spray the silicone over rims and brakes?
me, I love MANON😍😍😍
Idea for a future show would be how to build a rocker board for the Wahoo Kicker V5 and a Kicker Climb. There are lots of ideas out there that look good but I know you guys will do a great job. I hope to build one for the winter period and would like a plan! Thanks!
You could always remove the wheels to keep the discs clean. You just need to use Si's favourite accessory, a chain keeper.
But you did not use your epic DIY stand you made earlier?
I don't think there is a happier person alive than Manon with a snow attachment.
I would have loved a snow fight between presenters with a snow attachment each.
I'm new to cycling and googling such things as "Bonking, Ass Saver and Lube" is producing some interesting advert recommendations - cheers GCN 😂
Oh dear...
I like her, she's quirky! Nice bike too!
Oh wow, another cleaning video
I feel like we've got one from each GCN presenter now
That water presser help the soapy water to get into the bearing deeply and nicely and wash them too. 😎
I never clean my lovely bike or my lovely Harley-Davidson with presser water 🤣, only use water without any presser and a sponge and microfibre.
Yes i use brushes from different sizes.
Best thing I bought is the Muc-off power washer!!
She's so good at cleaning 💫⚗️🔀⚕️✔️
A good tip is to hose your bike from the top down. I also tend to soak the bike with a water soap mixture first. I still can't get the dirt out from the jockey wheels or the bike axles. It's hard to go with a brush inside the spokes to clean the axles. Any tips there would be appreciated. I have a weak power wash machine as well and use it regularly and it truly does not damage the bearings.
I use a 1.5 liter pressure-bottle with a carshampoo-solution, a paintersbrush and a carwashmitt with dreadlocks to get my bike spotless. For the chain I spray degreaser on the brush and work it in at the cogs.
To protect the paint use a liquid wax or detailerspray without silicone in combination with a high quality microfibre towel.
This bike looks suspiciously mudded intentionally! For example mud on the top of the top tube and mud on top of the chainstay! I assume that GCN must have some serious enemies!
I guess guys from gmbn loaned it for a weekend and ride it on their favourite downhill trail. 🤷
Just use paste called "The Pink Stuff" to remove stubborn grease from the frame and Traffic film and wax, £12 for 5 litres concentrated.
Try it.
#GCN #GCNTech I think I have a problem. I feel the need to clean my bike after every ride. I truly love cleaning it!
Me too. It's "afterplay". A quick wipe down and run the chain through a paper towel. And if you do it every time, the bike NEVER really gets THAT dirty.
Will it be ok if I clean expensive carbon bike (cervelo r2) with 75bar high pressure washer?
Holy crap she spends more on cleaning products than I have ever spent ON A BIKE!
Pledge furniture Polish is also great to shine up the bike frame!
White t-shirt would’ve sold me on this muc-off infomercial
Manon is so cute!
Lol did they actually smear mud on the bike just for this video?
bike specific preasure washer looking pretty similar to one of those 50 buck electric preasure washers
Thanks I really need a bike pressure washer like that
Love the canyon aeroad in that colour and I love you too Manon 😁
Manon Manon. I would begin by facing a corner for 30 minutes thinking of what I've done wrong to end up like this. Hehehe Nice video. Cheers!
Manon the bike detailer!
and make sure to spray all the breaking surface with silicon spray , you missed a bit
Well done Manon :)!
I enjoy your personality in the videos a lot by the way.
Love her accent and wonderful smile.
Aren't you interested in the content of her video? That's what counts for me at this channel!
@@guidospanoghe8896 Good for Guido. Yes I am interested in this channel, I merely remarked on Manon's lovely accent and beautiful smile, take from it what you wish.
I spray glass cleaner on a paper towel and wipe my bike down with that. I wouldn't spray my bike with water at all, let alone with a pressure washer. Doing that can get water into the frame and into the grease in the bearings. Your bearings _might_ be sealed well enough to prevent water from getting in, but are you going to tear it all down when you're done to confirm that? Plus, I have a leather seat which I definitely don't want to get wet.
*Pro tip:* If you have disc brakes, never, ever get degreaser or chain lube on the discs. I have made the mistake too many times.
Not using spray on degreaser or chain lube helps a ton.
You can also put something on the disk while you are using the degreaser.
Hell now what? Should I clean them with alcohol 99%?
why is that?
Help!! I experiencing a scraping noise in the area of my bottom bracket. It seems like metal to metal in one spot with each rotation of the crank. I sprayed the muc -off degreaser... could I possibly have degreased my bearings? I’m riding a 2020 BMC Roadmachine 0103 SRAM AXS etap. Thanks.
When I asked for more GMBN collaborations I didn’t think you guys will take a road bike in muddy trails. Just kidding. Good stuff
Next time can you show on how to deep clean the bike with SRAM AXS Etap. I’m just curious because of the batteries. Thank you.
Aeroad CF SL with Ultegra drivetrain? 😮 The dream
Can someone remind me how many cleaning bids there are, how many planned to come and how many I watch anyway pls
i really like her it makes me to motivate to bike more
i love you Manon :)
Is it ok to use a normal 5,000 psi pressure washer? Should I just use the low pressure nozzle?
Do we have to make a lubrication work after every wash? Thanks.
I see that Canyon successfully pushed out Orbea.
Very entertaining but very artificial and an advertisement for Muc-Off. The bike didn't get dirty in this manner through normal use, as is evident on the cassette. The mud is loose on top of the cogs and as soon as the cassette is sprayed with water then it is miraculously completely clean. Normal usage would have dirt and mud combined with sand and oil and all stuck to the cogs.
And what about cleaning a bike in an appartement, with just a balcony? That’s a challenge and I’ll love some tips!
Will the bike repair stand get rusty if you hang the bike to wash?
Death by snu snu with this one
Come on Manon the guy from the classic bike shop told you to go easy on the chain lube, you gotta grab it from both sides and wipe it down a couple times.
She likes a good lube, what can i say
Muc off must be super happy with this.... I use fairy liquid
i bought the mo94 spray. so should i be spraying that on the rear cassette too or just the derailleur and jockey wheel parts ? also could it be used in pivot points like on a full suspension mtb ?
I’m here with my bucket, sponge and pipe cleaner brush :D
Is that the courtyard of your mansion?
Gcn are the poshest folk on you tube, I might ride a peugeot out of a skip but I still like your channel, cheers.
I think it is the GCN HQ. Ollie did the same(?) bike washing video on the same spot, at the window with the iron bars.
Thank you!
Haha...love the snow foaming.
How the hell did u make that bike that dirty
CX?
They probably just smeared mud on it.
It looked deliberately smeared to me, rather than splattered from riding.
I think it is to make a point. It's normally impossible to get a bike that dirty, especially the top tube. Most dirt accumulates near the chain stays and BB.
4evadunkley that would scratch the frame
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Drivetrain.
Muc Off affiliate? Should have Gee Milner doing some up close deep cleaning. "Dream Clean"
Dream clean 😂 lmaoooo
Is this Muc-off pink cleaner safe to use on Matte finish?
I prefer Simon's video where he shows a bit of elbow grease. Best grease there is!
Can you make a video for those off as with no pressure washer or hose, because we are living in flat and have no place to do a proper bike wash?
Bath and baby wipes will do the trick
They have one if you look for it. They took the bike into the shower
That's my problem, shower or bathtub is a no go for me, babywipes dont work well on a bike full of mud, on a dusty bike they are pretty good. At the moment i use a garden sprayer.
Look at the worx hydroshot. Not powerful enough to do any damage and still snow foams well enough. I like mine a lot
ua-cam.com/video/lE2eGfGrclA/v-deo.html
Manon looks tight and all and all wearing that black skinny jeans and gcn shirt
Question: how to get inbetseen the cogs of your cassette?
I have brake rotors for my Trek Domane SL5, is it okay to wash those as well with the whole bike?
Clean your discs with discbrake-cleaner ( or another alcoholsolution ) afterwards and your brakeperformance will stay 100 %!
Not sure if you can eat over it after the cleanup, but you could have definitely grown vegetables on it *before* the wash
Frosted Canyon🥺 would be epic
