I just get teary eyed everytime i watch this.
Her husband is not bad guy,he just took her respect for granted over the journey of marriage. He was trying to help and translate her while others were giving speech.
The daughter acted so well that i never hated someone like that.
We miss you sridevi garu.
her husband is an awful man. I wish she had left him. Men like these should be left.
are you nuts?? her husband was a horrible man!!
Are u serious 🤣🤣🤣he is narcissistic and mean guy.. doens't deserve Shashi at all.....he thinks he can devalue her whenever he wants. Shashi deserves to be with french guy but she is typical Indian woman who can tolerate all insults sometimes beating but can't leave such asshole... sometimes this trait of Indian woman leads her to her doom
Her speech was a big slap on her husband and daughter's face
Not slap. She earned the respect she deserves from them.
@@shubham-yy8tj slap, guilt and respect after that
@@shubham-yy8tj did she really have to learn English to get respect, she was already talented enough on her own to have earned immense respect from her husband/ family. This husband , and so many others like him, truly deserve a tight slap
@@shubham-yy8tj earn????? are they any sort dignitaries to EARN respect from them??? basic human tendency should be to acknowledge ones effort n you are talking about EARNING respect from the people for whom she was catering her services ....
@@shubham-yy8tj she absolutely does NOT need to earn anyone's respect
That French man fall in love and confessed in French and Sashi comforted him in hindi though they don't understand the language but they still understand the feelings
To be tru if there was another girl instead of sashi from another country she might have left her husband and choose French man over him bcoz he loves and respects her but here sashi didn't even put herself in a situation where she had to choose between them she was clear about everything I am so proud of her and I learnt something from here which was about relations .
i wish she had left her husband. He was awful.
@@sumicar8593 well u should watch the climax again she loved him and he loved her but a thinnest line was crossed by him but he released his mistake they were a family a family built by her and him according to time things changes and unknowingly we Crack our relationship but It don't mean we have to end a relationship . we just have to fill the cracks . And at last he understood his mistake and even her daughter did understand her mistake
@@vaishnavigholap6470 yes yes i got all that but my point is her husband was an awful man, She should have left him,She desrves love and respect and she shouldnt have to prove him wrong to get it. the husband is a low level toxic guy, i dont know why women stay with such husbands
@@sumicar8593 well even I don't know. The best person to ask this question is our mom try it u might get ur answers
@@vaishnavigholap6470 it was rhetorical question gundoo!! lol!!my point, women need to learn to walk away form such husbands, they deserve love and respect without having to work for it and society should stop pressuring and not supporting women into staying with such toxic men.
Bro but that French dude was in love
Yeah very nice character
😂can't help
It's because that film is indian and we indian and logic about film .... 🤡
@@Ritvizi I don't think it is just Indian logic, I mean, Shashi was beautiful, talented, and sweet. Who wouldn't fall for that :P
@@Ritvizi i agreee he totally fell for her....
My mom's favorite movie. Even when she was ill, she saw this movie on TV and this scene easily her personal favorite n relatable. Love you maa, miss you.
The way she said 'judgemental' was brilliant. Sadly ones close are judgemental
Why is it people feel ashamed when they can't speak good English, but are quite proficient in other languages, but if an American or English person speaks a couple of sentences of any Indian language they are congratulated for their effort.
Yes this so true yet so unfair
well said
Don't know what is the connection with this seen. But when ever I feel low so low I listen her speech. Her speech is useful in evry field. Thank you for such a amazing movie.
same here
Same here very helpful for me.
Same here 😊
If I was the Director of this film, I would have made Shashi go off with the French Man ....dumping that clown of a husband forever!!! 😂😍
Me too
Hainaaa ! that would have been such a killer ending .
🥳😂
This is the beauty of Indian culture. Couple always try to make their relationship better and beautiful
That's exactly why she said "you should help yourself and come back in marriage" in the speech.
I don't understand why they are embarassed , if she didn't know how to speak English, we Americans don't know how to speak Hindi properly , it's just natural we live in different countries and speak different. languages..🤷🏼♀️
In India English is symbol of status and knowledge (which is totally rubbish).
people pov : High paid fee school ll teach good English, they can go abroad etc.
I really don't know how many of us seen
She put 2 laddu her husband
N she said twice laddu to the French guy.
Somewhere it's sociaty that by heart she accepted french guy feeling n explain him her view of love.
This speech is so incredible and When I watched it on the big screen. She was just brilliant throughout the film well made storyline.
The climax was just so amazing ❤
Poor thing. I normally don't have so much love for bollywood, but when Sridevi expired in 2018, I REALLY FELT BAD. God bless her soul.
Such a beautiful movie..when i see her givim speech it always reminds me of mom, so relatable
My favourite actress, fav movie. The pure love of french guy....feels good. Thank u for making me feel good...means u r someone special in life.
7:44 the sentence and expression ❤
The real pain... He accepts it
Bhai, agar asia hota as per you say then that speech what she gave its useless as in that speech she shows the indian culture and how to work with relationship.
7.07 this made my day. Beautiful and just simply amazing line to clear all this disturbances mind is having.
Par usne bola kya french guy tab
what a beautiful sequence! Can watch this over and over
I just hate the daughter character here. How can you disrespect your mom like this. I always fight back when someone tries to disrespect my mom or dad, or for anyone for that matter. I can't tolerate such nonsense behaviour be it young or elder person. You just can't disrespect someone.
yes but her husband was worse. Wish she had left him.
She is just imitating her father.
@@mohitmurmu2302 yes and the onus is on this horrible man!!
she is not to blame!! her father is!!she is just immiating what he does.why blame kids for what the grown ups do?
Sridevi and Sujata Kumar, the actress who played her elder sister died in 2018. How ironic..life is tragic..Sridevi died of "accidental" drowning in February 2018 while Sujata died after battling cancer in August of the same year..
😞
I am panic
Sridevi 'died', still strongly doubt...
I also feel so sorry of her death
🫶
I was shedding the tears the French guy restrained from 🤣😂🥲
I always cry listening this.
Wow it's so cool that the people who are there when we succeed are real people for us, I'm learning English too, hope I can speak English well by the end of this year, ♥️🌈
The French man omg😭🫶🏻
This movie so good, when i was listening her speach, What a BGM playing at Background it's taking to heaven with that sheshi character.
Sssss🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Om shanti 🙏🏻 incredible person Sri Devi, and wonderful movie
She loves herself so much. 😍
We need to speak up and put your foot down with conversations that will drive sense to others and never take u for granted. That's what I learnt. Understand yourself. Never be cruel to yourself if others r harsh to you. Be it anyone.
One of the Best Learning and Motivation... Really such a excellent video
Beautiful words by the most beautiful woman ❤❤❤
Love you Sridevi ❤️❤️❤️
I don't know Hindi but I understand what the film is trying to say ✨✨
👍🏼
That’s understanding the theme and not the story
Always appreciate women to go forward in her life ❤
State how Shashi is the bigger person in English Vinglish and how her husband should not feel jealous. State 3 points
In "English Vinglish," Shashi is the bigger person and her husband need not feel jealous because:
1. Shashi's journey of self-improvement: Throughout the film, Shashi embarks on a personal journey to learn English and gain self-confidence. Despite facing challenges and ridicule, she remains determined and resilient, showing maturity and growth.
2. Empathy and understanding: Shashi's actions demonstrate her compassionate nature. Instead of retaliating against her husband's insensitivity, she chooses to understand his insecurities and seeks to bridge the emotional gap between them.
3. Celebrating each other's strengths: Shashi's transformation doesn't diminish her husband's importance; instead, it reinforces the idea that they can support and celebrate each other's individual growth and accomplishments, fostering a healthier relationship.

It was Shashi
He himself doesn't tolerate insult but make his wife tend to tolerate why who are you free car free stuff you get from dowry then pretend it is nothing but inside soul knows what you are doing that very thing will give back your karma
True .... But realisation & working towards that realisation in real life, both are different. Though society is changing, so are the thoughts. However one thing which remains same in 99% cases is, that wife should be asking for everything from husband before taking any action and many more such stuff!
It will still take ages to make both feel equal.
Thats the typical male specimen!!!!
Man I'm kinda confused about Khushi's sister. Like she raised her two daughters and got one married. But did she never notice how her sister is treated by the husband? Like did she never see and say anything about it?
The sister lives in the US. Sashi lives in India. How would she knows what happenned in Sashi's marriage?
She is a friend notcreal sister.
my favorite scene in this movie.
supremely motivational.
sridevi's acting...❤
This movie is just emotion ❤️
FAMILY CAN B JUDGMENTAL .!!!!!!!!
"Thank you for making me feel good upon myself" If you ever say this to anyone that will be the most special person in your life. I am sure in everyone's life, parents are the only individuals who will give you that feeling.
No, not every parents are same.
No
But sometimes they are the ones who start everything..making you hate yourself, making you feel you are unlovable, Always comparing you to other children, telling you how beautiful other girl is....these things etch the deepest scars!
Amezing movie clips
I am lucky to watch this film in English
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
One of the best Indian films ever made
A happy life film with beautiful emotions
Great Score and performances❤️
her husband and daughter deserves a tight slap, but she's an Indian woman (specially a mom) who will always forgive them
she should have left the husband tho.he was toxic!
It's such a awkward thing to expect, from someone who can talk, think and communicate in a language excellent to eloquent in a language known to them but not in a language unknown to them, and then make it an issue of pride,SHAME!!
PITY!!for people who disregard their native languages ,😢.
She reminds me of Anupma🤣🤣🥲
Sreemoye
It was very amazing and lessoning part because we have to don't judge our mom by our qualities we have to see her love that with which she is happy.
6:56 whatever happens in life, the meeting with you will always remain special my friend.
Even this movie shows in one sided love the receiver feels love and finds himself/herself whereas the other person has to feel the heartbreak.
Nobody can help you better than you is the ever best saying!
Whenever I watch , I got Tears
Well at least she knows two languages
❤❤❤❤❤I. Love

Her daughter and husband was such a disrespectful people
Tbf at least her daughter is a child and she learns her behaviour from her disgusting dad. He disrespects shashi so she copies his behaviour, thinking it is okay. How would he feel if a man treated his daughter this way?
What did the Frenchmen say in French … anyone please translate

When I was young I really like this movie but now I understand it's gives a wrong message.
Why will success come from knowing a language. Unfortunately it's India's Colonised mentality at play.
Correct ending - She gets acknowledgement for her other skills like cooking . And speech is given in Hindi. Then her husband feels ashamed that he has been overlooking her talent and insulting her just because of a language.
The problem is, her husband acknowledges her cooking prowess, but cannot see the fact she is capable of more. Case in point,he says,"Sashi was born to make laddoos" . Sashi learning English is not her becoming a victim of a colonial mindset, but ,just a way to show her family that there is more to her personality than just cooking. She is capable of so much more. And the movie does prove it to us that the family must feel ashamed of mocking Sashi just due to a language barrier
Thats not the point of the movie. The aim is that she is capable of doing things everyone else can and putting down ur own family member is wrong. In the end of the movie, she asks for a Hindi newspaper instead of English
U got it all wrong
Har cheez apne is black and white lens se math dekho. The message if the movie is her realizing her potential. Whilst what you are saying is absolutely true colonial mentality is not the problem this movie is tackling.
Mujhe to ye samajh nhi aa rha h ki india me English ka Etna Jada mahatv kyu Diya jaa rha h
She is telling..you will be back tamil family...enjoy here time being ..tamils will excuse your sleeping with them...
i need me a bsf like radha

Any french translators here? I really wanna know what did he say....
He was saying he wished Indian women would also fetishise white men like East Asian women and promote white supremacy, hiding their lust and fetish for gora behind social justice
