- Ants prevent you from being to enjoy your time in the lawn. In this video, you'll learn how to kill and prevent fire ants with one product. It eliminates fire ants within 72 hours and keeps your lawn ant free for up to 3 months. The product I'm referring to is Advion Fire Ant Bait by Syngenta.
Advion Fire Ant Bait is a specialized insecticide that targets fire ants in your lawn. It works best when applied to a dry lawn. This means you should apply after morning dew has dried and when there's no rain expected in the forecast for 3 days. We show the 2 lb jug in this video since it's what most homeowners will use. A 2lb jug covers up to 57,000 square feet meaning you'll have enough product for several seasons.
Another nice feature of the 2 lb jug of Advion ant bait is no special tools are required to use it. The jug comes with a shaker lid making it easy to dispense directly to your lawn. When applied as a preventative, we recommend applying Advion fire ant bait around the perimeter of your house and then again around the perimeter of your property. This helps keep fire ants away from your house and out of your lawn.
In the video we also show how to treat ant mounds.
Advion fire ant bait comes in a 2 lb jug and a 25 lb bag. The 25 lb bag covers over 16 acres.

I apply perimeter home, garage and property lines then hit a few pass middle of yards, usually in late February Have not had any issues since using it for 7 years.
Lasts whole season.
May have to spot treat later in September after heavy rains and before them suckers start bedding down for winter.

Ron good stuff as usual! I live north of Atlanta but was wondering if you have any experience with Cicadas Killers tha bury themselves in the yard. I had a battle with them last season and I am getting ready for battle this season for sure.
Hey Ron. You can put out biochar same time as any other fertilizer, correct? Same day?
I am thinking about getting more fungicide from you from all this heat. I put some out early May. It’s ok to put fungicide out a few days after the fert and biochar? This extreme heat with humidity may give me a issue with fungus. No problem so far that I know of.

Great vid Ron , I have heard from you and others this product works very well. I live up in the Northeast , so no fire ants I am aware of in my area ; but i was curious if this product works on many other species of ants ? Ants / ant hills in my lawn has been an ongoing issue for me for years ; most products I have used tend to not work very well or very long or in some cases simply forces them to move to untreated parts of the mulch beds. It is not super widespread my ant issue but definitely been a frustration for me and I have had varying success with many different products for ants that I have used over the years.
Just curious if this product would work on other ants besides fire ants ? and if so do I just walk around squeezing the bottle like that until I cover my entire lawn ?
I have the same question. No fire ants, but a lot of small ant mounts that are annoying.

Hmmm. I've never done that Tim D. I wouldn't imagine anything. There's no leaves on trunks so unlikely that any real amount would get absorbed.

Can this work for any ants or just fire and can you use a hand held seed spreader?
Advion fire ant bait is primarily for fire ants. There's a general Advion insecticide that works for ants other than fire ants. ron-henry.com/advioninsecticide You can apply it with your spreader.
Hi Ron, off topic, I was wondering if you knew whether all Tiftuf Bermuda sod is the same in appearance. I need to replace some areas, and my landscaper used a different source than supersod uses. If I replace with supersod tiftuf will it look the same?
Back on topic… Advion black ant and cockroach syringes are also amazing. We had single file lines of tiny black ants everywhere outside our house and one syringe put them out of commission for 1-2 years. I stole the idea from my bug guy who was charging $150 to come by. This is the best stuff on the market.
Hard to say red_array. They should be close but I've not had good success with replacement sod matching the existing. I agree that Advion is an awesome product. I've had no reason to change since going to it. Appreciate you watching.

@@RonHenry after 3 days it rained...its between a week and the whole yard (half acre) is clear of any ants (minutes carpenter ants). Works just as great as their roach gel. Won't use anything else in the future. Thank you!!

Does it only work on fire ants?

What will absolutely kill poison oak and poison ivy? I do not care what else I may kill, grape vibe, honeysuckle, wild brush undergrowth, Virginia creeper or whatever. It can kill everything but the trees is fine with me, in my particular application. Thx in advance. David
Hi David. Any herbicide containing glyphosate should do it but it's non-selective. Will kill other plants that it contacts. It's unlikely to kill the trees. Just keep it off the leaves.

@@RonHenry hi, reporting back to you. After a day of putting the bait the ants disappeared i was in shock how fast this work.
But after a week or so I start seeing ants again not as much as before.
@@theredon2 Did you get rain after applying Advion On2Red. I'd do another application of Advion and see if that does the trick. It sounds like you were dealing with a lot of ants. Thanks for the feedback.

That's an option too Alex. Advion has better residual in my opinion. It does a great job of keeping ants away as well as eliminating an active infestation.
