a lesson i have stolen from SCOTT PELLEGROM (look him up).
a reference to the famous scene in the movie KARATE KID.
another exercise in my quest to get you to move in all directions.
clockwise and counter clockwise at the same time, just hands for now.
this is in three. watch the video and figure out how this works. it's simple but requires focus and a very patient methodical SLOW approach.
don't get frustrated.
once you FEEL it, you'll start flowing with it.

i'm jumping ahead here with you to catch some more up to date shit.
i have all my students send me solos. the first thing that pops into your head when you sit down on the kit at the beginning of your day on the drums. 2 to 3 minutes max. here is an example of two from my morning starts and one from a concert with buick 6.
BUICK 6 SOLO butch norton live
a solo from a live gig about 8 years ago. performed on one of my CONTRAPTION KITS.
this was a segue from one tune to another. i would finish the tune on kit then walk down to the contraption kit in front of the stage and morph into a solo, then morph back out into the next tune.

there is no wrong here.
and the other part of this exercise is COMING UP WITH YOUR OWN TITLES FOR EACH SOLO YOU DO. the object is to create your own file of solos, like a resume of solos.
