I'm glad I saw this video before I drilled out that rivet. Was replacing the latch and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the thing detached from the solenoid or the lock indicator.
Did 3 of my door locks on my 97 explorer. If you dont have patience and a set of small hands , your gonna get a llittle cranky. Not much room in the compartment. But once you fix them its all uphill. Its still better than paying the dealer.
Thanks, I was afraid that I was going to have to drill the rivet that holds the solenoid bracket in, to get the rod to detach from the latch mechanism.

Great vid i hav a 2000 explorer and its to the point where all but my driver door is having an open or unlock issues what do u suggest
its ether lock actuator or latch problems only option is to replace them

You pull on it that rivet will pop right out I didn't want it too but it did 1999 Ford explorer
