RV Kitchen Faucet Swap: Watch This Before You Make A Mistake!

  • We recently tackled a DIY project in our RV. We changed out the kitchen faucet. There wasn't anything wrong with the old kitchen faucet, per se. And if we were still part-time, weekend RVers, we probably would have just lived with what we had. But, as full-time RVers, we wanted a faucet that would better suit our needs. So, we ordered a new bigger, sturdier kitchen faucet with a sprayer from Amazon ( amzn.to/2IyqLcd ) and set out to change it ourselves. We weren't sure how it was going to turn out so we turned on the camera and got to work! :)
    Also in this video, we talk about our veggie & fruit storage containers. Our OXO GreenSaver Produce Keepers ( amzn.to/2J4r5yw ) really help us keep our produce fresher longer and allow us to wash some of our produce ahead of time so it's ready to use. They also keep our refrigerator better organized and protect the produce during travel.
    We tackled this project while we were parked at our friends' Greg & Carolyn's place. (Which was great since we had access to Greg's tools! Thanks again Greg!) You can see more about our first "moochdocking" experience on last Sunday's video: • Our First Moochdocking... .

    I keep two pairs of strap on knee pads in my Airstream just for this kind of project. You can get them at Loews, Home Depot, or Ace Hardware. So, do yourself a favor and pick up a couple of pairs, you'll love me for it, I promise!

    I believe that you need to invest in a basin wrench, and one of the new plumbers wrenches

    Thanks, ya’ll, for the really helpful and well done project video! Having the exact same coach, this is extremely useful as we aren’t in love with the stock faucet, either. I feel much more confident in making this change to our Breeze, now! :)

      @rvamericayall  5 років тому +1

      Awesome Cee Jay! The most difficult part was making that hole larger. Other than that, it was just about working in the small space. We love the change! By the way, if you like the faucet we chose as the replacement, we've put an Amazon link to it in the description. We are very happy with it.

    Way to go Tom...That was so much how things go for me only you kept your cool Tom. There would have not been much talking for all the bleeps I would have had. A typical RV upgrade but worth it, we love our faucet like that. Y’all be safe n travels, still my Favorite Utube channel.

    Cool. I need to replace mine. I have been putting it off, it looks so hard to do in that tiny space. I will just have to suck it up and git-r-done, lol. Awesome video! Thanks for sharing 😎

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  5 років тому +1

      Hey Lisa! The small space definitely makes it challenging. The worst part for us was having to enlarge the hole in the countertop. Other than that, it’s all about patience (and maybe flexibility 😂). Good luck and git-er-done! It has been a huge upgrade for us.

    I've been binge watching your videos today and I know what it is like to change out a faucet as have done one in my kitchen. I did get a quote from a plumber of close to $500 to change it out but went to Lowes and got one for less than $100 and did it my self. Those sprayers come in handy when it comes to vegies. Awesome job!

      Great job Leann! We agree with you. We'd rather save the money and do as much as we can ourselves. It's working out great! Thanks for watching! :)

    Great looking upgrade, I'm considering this just curious what type of bit you used to enlarge the existing hole. It almost looks like a spade bit?

    Hey Tom--good work! Just one question. With the weight on the flex hose hanging behind that partition, won't it bang around back there when you are driving, turning and braking?

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  5 років тому

      Thanks! That is a great question. We haven’t heard a peep out of it. There’s not a lot of room for it to move around back there.

    Enjoyed how easy it seemed to be to install. Do you always recommend Teflon tape for steel to steel connections? Would or should it be used for steel to nylon/plastic connections? Keep up the good job!

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  5 років тому +1

      Thanks! We're not plumbers, but Tom always uses teflon tape on steel to steel connections. He's heard that it doesn't help with steel to nylon/plastic connections.

    Thank you for sharing this! We just got our TT and will be stationary, full-time in Aransas Pass (hubby is still working full-time in Corpus Christi). This is the exact facet that I want for our TT, so this video is right on time. Plus the OXO veggie storage containers are an added bonus. Hubby takes veggies in his lunch everyday and these will come in really handy for us. Looks like I will be doing more Amazon shopping 😀! Y'all have helped us a lot with your videos and given us quite a bit of useful information, we truly appreciate it since we are totally new newbies.

      Congrats on your new camper!! The faucet and the OXO containers are working out great for us. An added bonus of the containers is they protect our produce when we’re traveling. We have Amazon links in the description of this video for both the faucet and the containers so they will be easy for you to find. Thank you!

      @@rvamericayall I saw the links and immediately went and added both to my "shopping list". Wow! My list is growing by the day 😂, but I guess that is what happens when you first start this life. I hope that we can cross paths as some point.
