Nerves about potential first meetings definitely blocks me from even doing my best to advertise myself as a coach, even though I am positive about my abilities in the field. Thank you for this video!
Have you ever stood in line in a grocery store, and started a conversation with a stranger? Dealing with a first client is kind of like that. Do you have any business owner friends where you live? Find out if they belong to a networking group- business people who get together and share ideas. If they do ask if you can come with them to a meeting. If a first meeting is giving you fear or anxiety, going with a friend may make it easier. After you attend a couple of these, it will feel good to reach out to someone else you see may be apprehensive, where you initiate first contact.
Ajit, whenever I review any of your videos, I can't help but notice what a generous person you are. You communicate clearly and share valuable information so liberally. Though you speak pretty fast, one can't miss what you say because you say it simply and genuinely. You are an authentic coach.
Fantastic. I'm French and I don't speak English fluently, but there was so much clarity in your video that I absolutely understood everything. Thank you 🙏🏻
The step by step structure of the first coaching session was laid out in the perfect way for understanding and implementation. It was basic enough that I could see myself in the questions and how I might change them to be more suited to my style/personality but informative enough to provide solid direction. This was just what I was looking for - thank you!
Ajit, thanks for a structure well put together. Love how you emphasized the importance of putting oneself in the client's shoes to better understand his/her needs and motivations. Brilliant!
@@mindvalleycoach As a young coach who has just started this journey, it's a relief to know that it takes time to create lasting change and how the first session is all about just stepping up in the lukewarm water and acclimatizing together with coachee.
So you were the one who sowed all the seeds, repeated the nudging that helped hom finally be ready. Thanks , it was comforting to hear this, as I have felt useless before, never getting the credit for all my engaged work for people for free. Any negativity or reservationsis not good to express, however good your motifs are of not wanting to arouse unrealistic expectations. It gives negative nocebo-effect and depressing in someone who experienced much rejection, negation, disappointments and knows realistically to not expect too much. beter deal with it if it arises, I should as a coach. It may differ what is OK w different people. You are so warm, relaxed and open here that I would be able to tell you how bad I felt by the remark. Honesty, yes, - and balancing it to stay tactful and attentive, which is not the easiest in these stressed times. I wouldn't appreciate my coach to express their own feelings in my time, having needed to come out for so long. I get more trust and security-feeling if they invite me and can hold me/ topic in calm, warm ways, give emotional support and validation, above all ask probing questions going deeper.
Today starts my journey with my first client. AJIT, I appreciate your videos. So clear and concise. I will be ordering your planner, I believe I will definitely benefit from it.
I appreciate your generosity, and had many takeaways! The conversation flow in general seems both natural yet finishes the session with tremendous clarity. I believe you used the word “foundation”. I can see how this can really set clear direction for efficient and measurable milestones.
Thank you so much Ajit! I feel so much gratitude for your teachings, they are loaded with excellent content! I am so fortunate to have met you through Mindvalley! I can see clearly now, after I have watched your videos and followed your classes, that I would love to spend my next years as a Life and Business Coach. I have lived a long life, I have worked for two large international corporations for more than 40 decades. I would like to share the world of possibilities to open doors and windows to a selective group of young people who would like to find more clarity about tools, resources, choices, techniques, systems to adopt to build pillars for a meaningful and happy life! You are the best of the best in what you do Ajit!!!
Thank you for sharing information in the fully accessible manner, step by step, covering essential aspects for the people who are new in the coaching, but also inspiring with your warm energy!
This was powerful. Thank you! Focus, clarity, plus understanding slow simple steps create sustainable solutions. And building rapport by being open about our story. I never thought of setting context like this. I like that. Where are you now, where will you be tomorrow, what is stopping you, and what is propelling you? Documenting this can be super helpful. What do you think the best way to do that is without disengaging us from the conversation? And thank you for the free questionnaire!!!

Wow im doing a coaching course right now and yours is far superior but im going to continue and finish it but thank you for your insights they were valuable to me. Jacqueline
Great sharing Coach Ajit. Going with a mindset to help the client helps to reduce the nerves as we may or may not hv all the answers the client is looking for. These strategies really help put it in a structured manner. Thank you!
This was great, thanks!! One thing I’ve run into is when clients say “I don’t know” when it comes to what they’d need for the next 12 months. Sometimes it feels like the energy falls flat. What’s a good strategy to help them come up with solutions?
Great question, Anastasia! Quoting Evercoach author and master life coach, Christine Hassler, she says when a client says "I don't know," she asks, "Well, if you did know, what would it be?" Rephrasing the question from different perspectives could create a different response, it will depend on what the client resonates with. Maybe you could try questions like, "What don't you need to achieve your goal?," "Do you have all the resources available?," "Who can help you?" , etc, could bring new ideas to the table. We hope this answers your question! Thanks for asking ❤
Thanks for this! As some feedback for opportunities to improve - you often mentioned what it is that stopped the client from achieving the goal in the first place. Well, that won't necessarily be universally relevant - some clients may attempting this for the first time. Or for instance, be a new university graduates who are just getting started.
Great insight! While that may be true in some cases, most times people reach out for help is because they couldn't do it by themselves - even if it's started something new. Nevertheless, yes, it is possible that there's nothing stopping them and they just want support to get started. The intention can be adjusted based on your ideal client. Thanks for sharing :)
Hello, and thank you for the genuine enthusiasm and useful information, Ajit. I am definitely interested in learning more from you. If I may, at this point bring up one thing that did not work for me in this video. May want to find a way to avoid using the expression "the reason is because :-)) It is driving me crazy to the point that I lose focus in the sentence that you are saying :-)) It is grammatically incorrect and all the English classes I took did mention to avoid using it and replace it with either "the reason is" or "this is due to" or "this is because of", etc. Thank you for letting me share my little comment and I still think that you are Great and what you do is absolutely Great!
Thank you for your feedback. English is not Coach Ajit's native language so, although he strives to speak with the best grammar and intonation, it's understandable that he might make mistakes like any other non-native English speaker. We appreciate your understanding.
Thank you very much ! This would be tremendously helpful. What you didn't talk about - the coach-client journey depends on the "resonance" of the two people I think. What say?
Great question, Radhika! We definitely agree! It's important for the coach and client to have great rapport and connection as the foundation of their coaching relationship (more on rapport in this video: ua-cam.com/video/woUlXVet5l0/v-deo.html). Assessing the connection between coach and client can be done before the first coaching session in a discovery call or can be done in the first coaching session and influence if the coaching conversation continues or not. We hope this answers your question! :)

You might probably not want to go too in-depth in each step (especially the action plan!) as that would be the core of your work together in subsequent sessions. Hope this answers your question ❤

Very informative. Not going to lie I am nervous about starting my first session....what's better to use calling a client (with a private number?) or video call? Or is there a platform I can use interchangeably calling vs phone calls?

Unfortunately, we don't have the coaching session planner available right now, but you might find our free coaching templates useful instead: www.evercoach.com/coaching-templates. Thanks for asking!
Has anyone tried the Coaching Session Planner that he is selling? Curious about whether anyone has tried it. thanks.
Oh my days what brand is the jumper you are wearing? 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Oops no idea, Betty! Sorry we can't help you with that ❤😅
When booking a strategy session (sales call), should we always try and use video comms?
Great question, Liam! Using video is definitely better as it allows for rapport to build faster through visual connection, body language, mirroring... There may be situations where video is not accessible and it's alright, but highly recommended when possible. Thanks for asking ❤
I purchased (paid for) your coaching plan- the page said "page error" - is there really a coaching plan?

I just want to know why didn't you use some relaxation techniques to start of. Personally I think it breaks some tension for all and the coach. I like the way you presented the session. Nice advice 💯 💯 ❤️
Glad it was helpful!
My business clients would find that to be odd and very uncomfortable if I started there. In the future, yes but not at first.
Really mast
Thanks for sharing! ❤
If you apply this calm warmth and flowing openness with your clients, I am sure it is a great asset, at least it would be to me.
100%, Claudia!

Do you think this is an effective framework when offering a free session?
Great question, Joe! You can definitely use this structure for a free discovery session as it'll open up the possibilities for both you and the potential client to see how that coaching relationship could unfold after enrollment. You might probably not want to go too in-depth in each step (especially the action plan!) as that would be the core of your work together in subsequent sessions. Hope this answers your question ❤
