In the agency that I work on, we only upload directly to clickup if it's some transitional information related to the task: some context or feedback. If it's the final work, we save it on Google Drive. Layla, tks for this tutorial, love your videos
i'm from Brazil, and right here clickup are growing, and i belive that many people have this problem. But you was very good in your review. Thank you so much.
We're in the process of onboarding to ClickUP and we came to the same conclusion. Thanks so much for this video, I've learnt some new arguments why this decision is correct. Love your channel!
Thank you! I was trying to figure out if this was an option for me, but you have made the case (very succinctly!) to stay with DB and GD. Plus the one video I did upload to ClickUp seemed to go verrrrry slow.
Great video and thanks for putting it together. Had us worried there for a bit. The good news is there are new ways to automate taking all of your pix and attachments off of ClickUp and downloading them that are not that expensive. And you should be backing up everything anyway! You are correct about the attachments, make sure you do not want them anymore! :)
Love this Video...I tell my client the same thing. So glad you put it out there with such a great summary! I also waiting (anticipating) when the unlimited storage will be taken away, as it gets more popular it is not sustainable. I see a tier pricing coming in a year or two!
Is there a way to mass export/download all attachments in a Folder or List? I would be fine if they were all exported as PDFs. I'm helping a small business migrate away from storing documents in ClickUp and I'm hoping there's an export option to export many at once, vs. going to each Task and downloading from there.
Hey Amy! Just getting caught up on comments 🙈 You can Export your data in bulk by using the "..." Export options on a given View, but I do not believe that includes Attachments. I'd suggest contacting ClickUp directly at help@clickup.com for clarification -- sorry!
Thanks for the video - we currently use Evernote as a document file store and were going to transition to keeping files in ClickUp ... until I watched this ... we now might use Sharepoint / OneDrive and link the files. What is the best option for storing photos? We currently have workmen trying to upload photos to tasks in ClickUp - it doesn't work very well and sometimes just shows a JPEG icon instead of the photo. Thank you
Thank you for this insight. I have watched many of your videos and have more in my que to watch. When I signed up to clickup I had already decided I would tell my team not to upload documents to clickup for pretty much the same reasons you mentioned.
seems integrations of google drive, dropbox etc. are not in a free plan any more, if they ever were. Please correct me if I'm wrong, cause I had high hopes that clickup would be service that could read and write in google drive in free plan.
Hi there! Unfortunately, this is correct. The Free Plan does not integrate with Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive Cloud storage. You would have to upgrade to a paid plan or use a third-party integration tool. Alternatively, you can use a web Custom Field to link to any files outside ClickUp.
Okay, so if click-up has these kinds of issues, is there a better app to use for writer collaboration? I have a huge amount of writing on docs and I read that google docs may not be the most secure place to store your files. So...I am having a huge panic attack, possible heart attack, here. Please tell me what you would do??? Is Google Docs unsafe? I am horrified right now!!! 😱😱😱 Thank you for your thoughts. 🤗
Hey there. How to fix Clickup's "over the storage limit" warning? Clickup's free membership now says I'm over the storage limit - but I have no attachments at all. Storage gets eaten by "Attachments that you upload to tasks, List info, the Notepad, or Docs, including cover images uploaded from your device." But I have literally NO attachments in tasks, lists, notepage or docs. Please help!? Storage does not include the text in tasks or data related to the actual information. It only includes attachments. @processdriven
Wow this isvery disapointing from clickup. Whats the reason of a good project management software? To manage projects and also have access to the history of your projects.. but by not having access to you files (screenshots). Very silly to not give access to the files to your users.
@@LaylaPomper You are right. But I understand "access" to be a lot more than ClickUp offers us here. :P We document all work steps with ClickUp (often including screenshots). Do you have any idea how ClickUp takes this into account when teams have to move their departments (Spaces) to new Workspaces and take their 1.5 years of documentation and project management steps with them? File by file and task by task? xD
Layla. Reason number 6. Files stored in clickup are public to the internet. Yes I said public. Copy the link to the document, open it in an incognito window. Voila you have access to the document. Completely insane. And clickup have known about this for at least three years. WTF!

Oh, I’m so glad to hear that. ☺️
Nice video! One major mistake people make is trying to find a silver bullet, there is not a "replace them all" app indeed.
Preach!

Hahaha, loved the deep voice "don't upload to clickup lol" really laughed hard on that one. You should do that more in your videos!

Haha thank you so much! I'll definitely note that for the future 🤣

hi. Why I can't upload any files in tasks? ( I mean can't drop anything) It is loading and in the end not loading. Why?(

I got a message that i went over my storage limit. Can I see where to find the attachments on my clickup account so I can get rid of them?
Hey @djsyrex! I'd suggest reaching out to ClickUp and having them guide you. You could be experiencing a bug.

You are right, there is no TRASH CAN. If i delete a file. Thank you for that important info.
Right?! I'm glad it was helpful
now i am worried. have a perfect process...but need docs every task..now i have to change?
You don’t have to! It’s just always helpful to have a “backup” available in case something happens.

We use Google Docs for our writing process and it works great! 😊
What about using a google drive integration and uploading attachments that way? Is that considered uploading a file directly to ClickUp?
Nope, you’re safe!

Oh that's odd! Do you happen to use the Clip feature or voice note feature in ClickUp? 🤔
Amazing content! And by the way, even though you speak fast I can understand pretty much everything (english isn't my native language).
Hey Gabriel! Thank you so much! You can also use the gear icon in the bottom right corner to slow it down if you need to :)

The access is there and you can definitely use it…it’s just not quite as good as we might hope. 🤷

great insights and recommendations
Happy to help!
One year later ... is it still true ?
Hey Alec! Yes it is! We use Google Drive for storage and link to things within ClickUp, but we don't upload directly to ClickUp for these reasons :)
I upgraded for custom fields. Can't live without them! Haha
🤣🤣🤣
Helpful! 😁
Appreciate your comments Tony! 🥳
not being able to acess offline is killing me
