I'm surprised no one seemed to know about what happened at Donner Pass. I thought that story was known to every American -- well, up till current, know-nothing times.

Always are amazed that famous people weren’t recognized right away!

Mr. Laver born August 9, 1938 is 85 years old as of August 2023. Still with us.

Rod Laver is no doubt one of the best tennis players to ever live.

Who doesn't know about the Donner Party? I don't think it's a secret that came out since 1963.

Who knew back in Feb. 1963 that guest panelist Merriman Smith would be a witness to President Kennedy being shot in Dallas, and that he would win a Pulitzer for covering that tragedy?

Right - just a little over 9 months after this program aired.

Or that he would commit suicide just over 7 years after this episode was broadcast.

If I’d been the covered wagon guy I would have asked Robert Horton along as scout.

I wonder how that family got by financially while they were on that trip.

All three of these were obvious - the panel didn't have to work too hard on this episode LOL

'Obvious' might be a stretch, but then again I'm terrible at guessing the right contestant. The only one I was sure of in this episode was Rod Laver, because I remember what he looked like.

It seems at the end they would have only the ‘real’ people, rather than all of the contestants. The panel would have more interest in talking to the real ones, but would have to spread themselves thin so as not to ignore the imposters.

Peggy Cass is one of the most annoying panelists on any game show.

Cass is like your most annoying gossipy neighbor lady with too much time on her hands. Fatuous presentation.

Gosh Peggy looks heavy in this episode. That's not meant to be critical, just an observation. Particularly noticeable in the two side views of the panel.

I guess that means the parents didn't have sex during the entire trip.
