    Organ music was quite popular from at least the '50s to the '70s. Besides church services it could be heard in supper clubs, dance halls, ballparks (which is somewhat still common), shopping malls, cruise ships, museums, et cetera. It's such a terrific instrument!

    So I am happening upn WML and suddenly there is my old Contracts Professor in the 1960's- and 1970's which decidely was shocking enough.. then here is around age 10 or so..Wow. He does look more like his mother here, but as he ages, more like his father. It is remarkable to see the stages where the progressed personality has indications of itself showing through. He always presents as keenly aware of the social setting, its rules of decorum, and is both attentive and noticebly gifted with both sensitivity and an early sense of humor. What it must have been like to have such famous socialite parents and then to become a figure representing the counter culture. The whole sociology of WML and shows like I've Got a Secret are fascinating and one can see how one generation's standards and issues led to the development of the next generations standards and issues.

    The last of the WML extras I have to post, and probably the last new upload to this channel for a good long while. I'll continue to do what I can to protect the channel from the ongoing baseless, illegal copyright claims on the WML episodes by Fremantle, but I'm not planning on adding new material to UA-cam at this point (frankly, I don't have much of consequence left to post to the WML channel at this point in any event!)
    The total lack of support I've had from UA-cam in one nightmarish situation after another has forced me to realize it's time to stop feeding the beast. The existing videos aren't going anywhere if I have anything to say about it, but it's time for me to focus a lot more on real life for a while. Whatever the next project turns out to be-- maybe starting over on a more uploader-friendly platform like vimeo, maybe writing a book on WML, maybe nothing-- I know I'll always remain overwhelmed at how great a ride this whole experience has been since starting my UA-cam channels 2 years ago, and even more so, since starting the WML group on Facebook where I've gotten to know so many of you so well. The support shown by the members of our WML community has been constant and universal, as has been the public's love for this one-of-a-kind classic program!

      What's My Line? How in the world is it an "illegal copyright claim" if Fremantle owns the property to begin with?

    • @WhatsMyLine
      @WhatsMyLine  9 років тому +24

      5star555555555 Because the entire series is in the public domain, by virtue of never having been copyrighted in the first place. All they bought when they acquired the CBS WML series as part of the Goodson-Todman library are films, not any exclusive rights to them, because none exist. It's totally straightforward and black and white, and I wish people would take a moment out to research these things themselves before doubting me on it, because I'm tired of explaining it.
      I never would have started this channel in the first place if I didn't already know the entire series to be in the public domain.

    Duke Lloyd was actually Harold Lloyd, Jr. He made a few "B" movies starting in the earlier 1950s through the mid-1960s and did some singing in them. He achieved minor success as a cabaret singer and apparently recorded one album of romantic songs. Sadly, he had a massive stroke in 1965 at age 34, from which he did not make a complete recovery. It led to his death in 1971 at age 40, just three months and one day after the death of his father.

    Thanks Gary, for all the Blood, Sweat, and Tears you've put into WML. I may not be the most vocal of your followers, but I'm usually lurking quietly in the background, delightedly watching and reading the informative, sometimes hilarious, and always entertaining comments and discussions. My parents were always game show aficionadoes and when I was young, the '70's version of WML was on, with Arlene still going strong. I'd seen some of the old shows here and there, through the yrs. via local tv and then cable, but what a treat to get to watch all of these episodes and get to know and love not only Arlene, but Dorothy, Bennett, John Daly and the many panel regulars and guests through the yrs. You have provided an amazing service for which many of us will be forever grateful.PS. Don't let uninformed imbeciles rent space in your head; not worth your time or energy. Bill

    Feb. 16, 1964
    SAN RAFAEL, Calif., Feb. 15 (AP)-David Andrews, 30 years old, son of the Hollywood Star Dana Andrews, died today after having been in a semicoma for the last month because of a cerebral hemorrhage.
    The hemorrhage caused extensive brain damage. His wife, Tracy, was at Marin General Hospital when he died. Mr. Andrews was a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles. He became an associate program producer with the Columbia Broadcasting System in Los Angeles. He later worked as an announcer at KIDD in Monterey and came to KFRC in San Francisco as an announcer and musical director two years ago.

    It figures that Benet Cerf's son was the one who said the What My Line panel would have guessed it. Chip off the ole bock.
