This song is about pivotal moments in our lives that forever change us. Ren's is when his best friend killed himself. We can not get away from the thoughts in our heads no matter where we are. They follow us. We are not who we were before that event. We may never be that person again and can miss who we once were. Also, dealing with the overwhelming feelings can be suffocating. Ren conveys internal emotions and that voice we all have in our heads that beats us up so well. He gets the human condition.
That is so true, I think we’ve all had those moments to some extent, but some have those pivotal moments at a different level. The thoughts and overwhelming feelings can be very suffocating and even paralyzing. Ren does a fantastic job of understanding the human psyche. Thank you for the thought provoking comment!

Also, if no one has explained, Daisy/Chinchilla deals with significant stage fright. She has said that the nails & rings are a bit of armor, in a way. They help Daisy become Chinchilla to perform.

By his own admission, Ren is agnostic. Meaning, he believes there is a higher power, but he isn't sure what that power is. When he was really sick, Ren tried a lot of different religions trying to get better.

Our channel, as you’ve probably realized, comes from a perspective that we are Christians, not in the religious aspect, but a follower of Jesus aspect, therefore we can relate much of what is said through that lens, for us. We aren’t perfect and our goal isn’t to push our beliefs on anyone. We just want to be real and authentic and hopefully be a positive influence on our growing community, as we try to work through our own “junk”.
