For the first time in a long while i'm actually excited for Dragon Age. Is this Bioware's return to form? Please let it be so.

I wish I could be excited. Ironically I only feel dread for the games release because I fully expect it to be a major disappointment.

As a huge fan, we should prepare for disappointment. The decline is obvious and BioWares days are over. Best go in with no expectations and be gratified by what little good is presented:

As long as the characters are memorable and the story is good I'm ok with it 👌if they improve from inquisition great,but if they do complete 180 like suicide squad/rocksteady I say let them be erased and forgotten overtime. I feel like the one of main reasons dreadwolf will get some success is due to its ties to a potential mass effect sequel. Sure DA fans get to have another game to play, but to ME fans this game's success is one of many hurdles needed for us to get a sequel.
I really hope Dreadwolf will be a good game. I absolutely love the Dragon Age franchise and, like many, I've been waiting for almost 10 years for that game. However, seeing the Bioware games that came since Inquisition (ME: Andromeda and Anthem) and hearing about EA's plans... I can't bring myself to be *that* excited for the game. I really really want it to be a good game, but I'll wait and watch some streams once it's released before I'll buy it.
True but also notice this, andromeda was developed in 18 months and anthem in 15….that’s really bad 😭AAA games being crunched and rushed in less than 2 years will never be good, just not possible, this is now. Games that’s had 9 years of time to cook, there’s GONAN be a big difference
@@egordon7543 But they haven't been working on for 9 years, and we know they've scratched all plans at least once. They've released the news that they're working on a new Dragon Age in 2022.
@@Effaly_ they released news of working on it in 2018 at the game awards, and they never scratched everything, they just swapped plans, like live service to not etc doesn’t mean they deleted all made assets, no company does that, they could destroy the story but the environment and models they made that fs are using still

After playing BG3, which I’m still actually currently playing, my bar is so high. I’m worried that I’ll compare DA Dreadwolf to BG3 and I’ll end up being let down.
I feel like anyone making an rpg should look at bg3 as the standard, it's not perfect but damn well near it, you can feel they took the care and interest in it and not just do it for a cash grab
@@mangoberry2290 yeah I agree. BG3 has been on another level so far. Everything is interesting in this game, every character, every side quest, exploration. It’s all top notch. No dumb fetch quests like go collect 5 dragon eggs and bring it to the wizard or some crap.

I've been replaying Dragon Age: Inquisition in anticipation of Dreadwolf's release, and I forgot how immersive and deep the game play was in that game was. I just hope Dreadwolf comes close to that.
i hope dreadwolf combines the good things of DAI with the good things of DAO + some few improved things like e.g. much better towns/citiies.
Dragon Age is my favorite franchise.. but I hated everything about Inquisition.. Inquisition was SO bad, that it changed my opinion on DA2, to somewhat positive!
That would be nice, i Need more Games Like Mass Effect and Dragon age, and we can see if bioware still can produce Great Games. So we can Imagine how Great the next Mass Effect could be.
Zero expectations for this and somehow I feel that I will still be disappointed..

@@rulewski33 there are plenty of games that arent rushed and still are boring. starfield is the perfect recent example. anthem also wasnt rushed. they worked 7 years on it.

I get your Point but Starfield was advertised as soemthing which it wasn't in the End. Often it's better to show something off when it's nearly finished and then release it shortly after. So I hope that will be the Case here.
@@rulewski33I feel Starfield was exactly what I expected. Tedious fetch quests, bugs and bad dialogue. The concern for me at least around Dragon Age is more of a focus issue. Do they know what game they want to make? I liked Inquisition but probably the biggest criticism I have is that it had absolutely no direction at all. It was like Bioware wanted to make a Bioware game and EA wanted them to make an open world game. As a result you had a game that was pretty good (Corypheus was a shockingly dull antagonist though) but stuffed with filler. I hope that there's a clear goal and direction with this game.
Oh yea, this game is cooked. I'm putting money on the fact that its gonna released buggy, unfinished, and broken. Then Bioware is going to be finally swallowed by EA. I'd love to be wrong and for this game to be spectacular and do the same things the first game did, but the track record hasn't been there for well over a decade.
While I have hopes this will actually be decent, I don’t have high hopes for Dreadwolf.
Most all of the old guard, the dev’s and people behind DAO’s, BG1 &2 as well as ME are currently working on Exodus, which I am much more hopeful for being a really great game. Bioware of today is only bioware in the sense of having the name, all the best talent left sometime ago.
I thought that too, but there's a lot people of old days in bioware till this day, I think Kala Elizabeth has a video on this topic.

Why don't you think that there is actually talanted young blood? Some things come with experience, others with talent.
Sure, there is plenty of talented young blood dev’s. Provided that the suits don’t fire them, as many have been recently.
And could new talent provide a top quality game equal or surpassing DAO’s or that of the ME games? Sure…provided they are allowed the creative talent, time and freedom to do so.
The current state of much of Trip A gaming revolves around profit and shareholders, not necessarily around what makes the best game for the users. Like I mentioned, we’ll just have to see what EA actually produces, maybe it will be great, maybe not, I honestly hope it is.

I REALLY hope this game is great...DA Origins was one of my favorite games all time, but since then, each release has been a little bit downhill from the previous one, imo. I don't know if Bioware still has it in them, but I can dream.

Not only do I think it wasn't MEANT to be when Bioware was thinking it up and developing it based on how it was treated and promoted, but we also see an angara in the promo material for the next game. They're definitely not going to forget about it. Personally, I don't mind- though I understand why people don't like it, I think the angara are super interesting and have a lot of potential to be a really cool species, and as a younger person I enjoyed the younger and rasher Ryder a little more than I think the older fans did- and honestly I'd be okay seeing more of the Andromeda cast and letting them get a bit more fleshed out and mature.
I can't believe people are still saying this after three consecutive garbage releases from bioware. I've heard this for the last few releases of BioWare titles that this is their "last chance" 😂😂

Hoo boy. I’m more of a Mass Effect junkie, but we should all be rooting for Dreadwolf’s success. It could very well be do/die for BioWare as an entity.
Hope it really comes out sooner than we thought and it is hopefully a great continuation of the series and then they can put more people into the "other" important game they are developing ;)

Makes me wonder why EA is happy about how dreadwolf is turning out. Is it just lip service saying that we the gamers shouldn't be worried about a bug riddled mess ? Or that they implemented some kind of monetization for the game ? Or what I suspect, is dreadwolf going to be their first testing ground of their so called thoughtful advertisements.

Can’t wait to play. It’s gameplay should be fun too, one of the few drawbacks of BG3.
The graphics should be gorgeous. They already have a SOLID framework for the narrative. There are so many interesting factions in the game, and high stakes across Thedas. They just need to get the story right, and I feel like it will be a solid 8-8.5/10. I’m not expecting a BG3 - that game is a phenomenon and I don’t expect most AAA studios to seek the level Larian continues to. But I am hopeful, and excited. I’m 27 - I’ve been waiting for this game since High-school! 😅
Let's not forget the Behemoth called GTA6, releasing next year. No RPG game in their sane mind would even try to compete with that. And I hope Bioware is going for 2024 GOTY with DA:D.
I just want the option to be evil/neutral and not just mean/rude. That's all I want.
As with everything you can take what you hear and see with a grain of salt until substantiated, but that doesn’t mean you can come to a conclusion before it’s launched. Mainly aimed at the people that are doomposting and the people that think this will be the best thing ever. We haven’t seen much, so best bet is to wait for June and start forming thoughts on it then.

The question is what form that will take.
Would obviously like it if the game gets it's own big showcase event, just like the one starfield got with bethesda for instance.

inquisition was primarily good with the DLCs. the main story at release was worser than DAO and DA2. but i agree if its just better than DAI i am already happy too.
I've been burned too much by Bioware and Bethesda in recent years. I might just wait and see on this one before I get my hopes up and I definitely won't preorder.

They just gave inquisition for free on epic so it may be a sign they want new fan base few months before release of dreadwolf

Didn't BioWare lost most of their main leaders in the narrative department after Anthem? Like the main team behind the first DA games is gone... If that is the case I am deeply afraid that this new game won't live up to the last one. Inquisition wasn't the best RPG game, but as an adventure/open world it was a Solid game. Mostly because of the very good story. Dialogs, companions and side quests were the highlight of this game for me. I keep my fingers crossed in hope that Dreadwolf will be a good one.
The main issue is that Baldur's Gate put the bar so high 😂 I hardly believe that BioWare will come close to that level of quality

I was going either way on the next DA - wasn't wildly keen on Inquisition and am even less keen on EA atm - but this report of them being pleased seems intriguing. It's intriguing me anyway
My gosh, I hope you're right. I was in my twenties when this game began early production. I'm on the wrong side of 35 now.
I’m super excited for the game. I’m currently replaying Inquisition and I just adore that game so so much. I’m hoping to see some cameos, like Dorian Pavus and Maevaris Tilani and maybe Varric Tethras, but so long as the game is fun, I’ll be happy. I’m excited to see Tevinter if we can. I also hope they still allow a chance to save Solas instead of killing him. As much as his betrayal stung, I still always loved his stories of the Fade and the wealth of lore he was capable of revealing. The man has some serious trauma that he’s not dealing with and I would love to see him and the Inquisitor just… stay friends.

@@cosmancho2959 I don't know if that's true... most people agree that it's not as good as the first two, but trash? Almost everyone I know and have seen have positive feelings about Inquisition, even if they're sandwiched between serious criticisms. It also brought a lot of people (like myself) to the first two games. I still love Inquisition a lot, and have gone on to watch all of the accompanying media and read basically all the books and comics.
@@cosmancho2959 I don’t know where you’re getting that from. Inquisition was praised very highly at the time, ppl loved that we could finally pick multiple races again and being able to travel to different locations. It did have its flaws yes but it certainly isn’t trash

I want to see some gameplay. I’m not getting my hopes up until I see something substantial. Too many games stuck in dev hell end up being terrible so I’m not very hopeful here.

I'll admit I am worried since there's been very little if any gameplay footage shown and sparse promotional materials but I'll reserve judgement until the reviews are out. One way or another though I do feel like this will be the last Dragon Age game since the story has been building up to this point for multiple games and how long its been since Inquisition. I do think that if Dreadwolf is a decent if not good game, it will do well financially especially since there's still a good audience for it if the success of Baldur's Gate 3 is any indication. (I'm not saying that this game will be anything like BG3 but there is quite a bit of overlap in the fandoms) One thing I am curious about how they are going to handle transitioning world states from previous games, my bet is that they are going to update Dragon Age Keep to include Inquisition's story choices since Dreadwolf will be a lot of people's first time with the series and Dreadwolf maybe using a different engine than Inquisition making transferring saves unlikely.
I'm cautiously optimistic just because they've had so much time to work on the game. But its still EA and Bioware certainly needs to earn back the goodwill we used to give them freely.
I had some good times with the previous dragon age games. Always look forward to them- but I can’t help but get a little more and more disappointed with them as they go further and further away from the greatness that was dragon age origins. The game had me hooked from beginning to end in its story and adventure and for years I’ve been waiting for a draganage game to immerse me within a game again. I hope this is the DA release I’ve been waiting for since my time as a warden came to an end.
If you ask me that's the way studios should go they should wait for like 2 or 3 months before they know releases happening and then announce the game

Start's to pray cautiously and optimistically that it doesn't inquisition or anthem bug launch. Hmm at this point bioware is clutching our (dragon age/general bioware fans) ass while we dance the flamenco in grave time while the world passes us by at an allegro pace on the ballroom floor.

There is NO WAY that DA4 is coming out this year. It's almost the end of May, and not only has a release date not been announced, but they've done NO marketing for it. They have to market this game. It's been so long since Inquisition that they HAVE to put it on the general game-buying audience's radar--which at this point it's not. Outside of preexisting DA fans, no one has followed the meandering progress this game has made over a decade. The previous games had very extensive pre-release marketing. There's no way they're just going to surprise drop the game this year with no marketing. They aren't Beyonce.
More concerned that EA might be pushing Bioware to release the game sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed 😮.
Dreadwolf's showcase should be on its own. It should not be part of the Summer Game Fest, as that will be depressing.

Not to sound pessimistic but i have no faith in this. Origins was a masterpiece, and 2 and inquisition wasn't really good. Besides seeing the state of all the AAA tiiles nowadays the chances of it being good is low. I do hope this game to be really good but.....
DAO was a 9/10, DA2 was a 6.5/10 (just cause of the story and party members the rest was meh), DAI was a 7.5/10 (was in those things better were DA2 was lacking, but didn't make the things better were the other games were good at, but that new dragon designs were top tier - wish they would have done all dragons from the beginning like that *sigh*)

I mean, all hope was gone since years already, as it went down the drain after hearing years ago that the devs themselves are calling it " Anthem with dragons " ( letting us know that it will basically be Anthem 2 just with a different name and skins to avoid the sales tanking ) . But, hearing that EA ( a company who only likes Game As A Service and Always Online games, a company that always pushes for lootboxes and micro-transactions, and who now pushes for ads in games ) hearing that this company is " satisfied " ... That sounds like the final nail in DA's coffin, to me. RIP DA franchise. 😥

@@Poesjewel not assuming, more like not wanting to risk it, risk the good memories I have of him from the second game, with his appearance and also heck no if he joins Solas. And I also watched another video last night, called "Dragon Age Dreadwolf: Will Fenris Join Solas?" by user Kala Elizabeth, that points to Fenris' relationship with Hawke and the rest has pretty much imploded and he's back to his angry-at-the-world self. If he's in DA:D, joining Solas etc, I simply won't buy the game. Or at least leave Hawke in the Fade, so I can pretend that is why he's all angry again, instead of his relationship with Hawke being undone.

yeah didn't finish it too... don't know why... mostly liked the game. but i think it was cause i wanted to romance cassandra but also romance a modded busty, more attractive and more open-minded sera and something bugged or prevented me from romancing cassandra too... and then i stopped just wanting to make a break and then didn't play it anymore... but i liked it and i always wanted to finish it.

we definitely need to see gameplay. they can't do it like ubisoft and other games and show just a rendered cinematic. they have to show gameplay to proof themselved and gain at least some trust from their fans and customers.

EA being happy means nothing to me. They approve mideocre games all the time. Bioware needs this to be a home run out of the park. I dont see that happening.

I liked inquisition. I liked 2, though not as much as either of the other games.
That being said, from the "everyone is happy" with development on dreadwolf, to it coming out "sooner than we think" I'll believe it when I see it. Not before.
