- An orange day. A black day. A blue day. These are some of the colors the hero of this Dr. Seuss poetry program goes through, as the young boy and his dog experience the changing colors of moods. The Minnesota Orchestra, under the direction of Eiji Oue, provides the music that goes with these moods. Set to state-of-the-art animation, the orchestral arrangements perfectly reflect the changing colors and shapes that represent the changes people go through as they face the ups and downs of life. Narrated by Academy Award-Winner Holly Hunter.

My mother was a music teacher; and my sister and I watched this as tiny kids. It was my favorite, I thought it was so interesting and the music was incredibly beautiful.

During my School days at JKL Bahwating, this is what my music teacher allowed us to watch as we learn better.

This video (and the book) right here...was the very foundation of me discovering my emotions and love of music/art. I would describe my emotions and recall what I saw in the video. It was a childhood classic. Now many years later, I'm reading My Many Colored Days book to my preschool students!
Love the music!! I was amazed the first time when I was a kid and I saw the entire orchestra clap at the Happy Pink scene! Since then, I have enjoyed it a lot from the "story concert".

Always love using this during our Dr. Seuss week at school. I use it to teach timbre ( tone color) and other musical concepts to my elementary students. I noticed there seem to be some glitches through out the movie. I tried it on a different computer and it was the same. Has anyone else noticed this or is it my school system's technology? Thank you for posting this. I was wondering if there is a recording of just the music?

This is from before you kids were born. For the time this probably wasn’t bad. I remember my family borrowing this from the local library many times for me when I was a kid in the early 2000’s. Sure, it looks like shit now given the state of technology right now, but the concept and quality was probably pretty decent for the time it came out. 3D animation didn’t really start looking too refined as a whole until a few years later if I remember correctly. Just saying, cut them some slack, this was made before our current industry advancements that we are now used to, and is a fondly remembered part of some of our childhoods.
