What no one ever mentions in these videos is how EXHAUSTING metal detecting is!
Jim walks out like a champ after a long day like this at the beach but let me tell you: swinging around a moderately heavy detector one-handed for miles while digging a bunch of holes one-handed with the other arm really takes it out of your arms, legs, and back!
Yep, 5 hours hunts are normal for me on the beach. Add some steep stairs to climb when done is always a bonus, Lol! 👍😎
…. And then you have to climb the fifty zillion steps back up. Just doing the steps alone would kill me!!

Awesome Find Jim, I cant wait to find my first gold. Been hitting the NJ beach here last few days with finding change here and there but also still really cold out. I ready to be back in GA and hit the beaches there. Thanks for another great video!

Beautiful chain. I've always avoided those 1-5 signals since I mainly park hunt, but I'm heading to the beach soon and will start digging that foil :)
in the dry sand; I kick the 1-5 signals that are shallow, the foil gets exposed quickly and move on. Every once and a while its not foil, Lol!👍
I was born in Laguna beach. My parents always told me they found me in the sand!. Nice payday!

Hi Jim. I'm liking your sand scoop with the yellow shaft. Is that a new one? I grew up in Anaheim, so I love all of these beach videos since I now live in Utah and don't get out to the beach much these days.
T-Rex is an old scoop, it is very heavy and carbon fiber is not recommended. I noticed that shaft sitting in the trash at work because the staff did not like it and wanted wood. So the yellow shaft is from a industrial broom from Home Depot. Lol! 👍😎
I would think the rocks at the far end down at the waters edge under that house would trap coins and rings, I was surprised you didn't go to the rocks down there. Diamond at 16:25. Sweet gold chain Mr "T" don't have nothing on you. Get a skim board and make those steps quick to go down. LOL
Certain rocky shoreline areas I cannot dig in, anything fish and game could call tide pools area I stay away from. 👍 Thank you!

Robert does makes a lot of videos so I am not really sure, you maybe right but I think you may be thinking that West St. is Table Rock or 1000 Step Beach as they all tend to look similar with beautiful rocky shoreline and lots of steps. Thank you!

Nice score on the gold! West beach... been there many times. That beach absolutely eats up coins.... I was there a couple weeks ago and dug a barely recognizable Franklin half (no identifiable date) and 1946 nickel. Nice vid Jim!
I don't detect West St much maybe once or twice a year only to see if anything has changed. My first gold find there in a long time. Franklin half on that beach had to be crusty. 👍😎
I don't think 5 chains sounds as good as 4 chains.. haha but that is a really nice one.. when you said it possibly went around the belly..I was thinking 9ct.. which is still awesome..but 14ct is way better! :)

Do you do further verification to check with gold versus gold plating?
Also how do you prefer to sell your gold and demonstrate it's authenticity to potential customers?
Yes, beside the acid test, I should have shown the magnet test and In this case the only way I can tell it is not gold filled is to destructive test it (snip a piece for sample), so I am opting to research first. Identifiers like weight and color is another factor.
Great question, as for selling my gold - simply I don't! I have a large collection for my retirement some day, however I have traded and bartered with my finds.
As far as buyers of great items, authenticity is left to the buyer so go to a place with reputation, my father went to the Jewelry district in Los Angeles and would get a few different appraisals. Always get multiple offers as designer items are worth more than just gold value. I hope that helps!

It was brief, if I remember it was 5 & 6 in the hole but tested out of the hole was solid 9 when balled up in my hand.

👍 Thank You! My sweet 100lb chocolate lab had 1 tumor removed this week ( non-cancerous) the other tumor that grew large rapidly is near her spine which was causing the pain but meds are reducing the size of tumor so the pain is easing a bit for her. Thank you!
