I think we're taught that the Roman Empire was the greatest empire because it was so large, existed for so long and was one of the first major societies. In comparison, the Mongol empire was large but it only existed for around 160 years (compared to Rome's 1000 years), and was a nomadic society.

The patterns on the giraffes are caused by the amount and the heat of the sun, in the hotter climates, the giraffes have smaller black spots so their white colour can reflect the heat, in the colder climates the giraffes have bigger black spots so they can absorb more heat. You should learn the positions of the countries on the map, after seeing this. One of those tests where you get the names, and you have to click on their locations.
