I had the issue of idling on 7 cylinders on my S4, I only detected the problem in the dark - there was a tiny arc onto the rocker cover from the dust cap on the spark plug end of the ignition lead, could not be seen in daylight. Other issues that can affect how rich the idle fuel mix is include the MAF under intake air filter and potentially the oxygen sensor (if fitted) , screwed into the exhaust pipe and a the black cable runs into the cabin and plugs into a cable socket attached to the fuse panel.
Have you checked your cam timing? Personally I wouldn’t keep unplugging ignition leads you can blow the amps if the spark has nowhere to go. Unplug the injectors instead

No I haven't. How would I do that? Be kinda strange for this to skip a tooth on the timing belt.
