greatbrittanyy you don't have to use the cheese he used. I would maybe try the cheese first just to make sure you like the flavor. Could always go for the classic cheddar cheese
Anna Tran But what temperature? And for how long? Does he use bread crumbs? Or panco? Does he butter it? Will it dry out the pasta? There's a lot of info that would have been nice to know, even if he didn't want to bake this one, he could have added that info at the end or something. I don't feel comfortable guessing on that stuff since I am not a very experienced cook yet. But I WILL be trying this recipe as it is. It looks SO delicious; I am so happy he finally posted it to share with us! :)
Lately, I've been into your videos a lot; they have been improved so much. The ones in the past were still great, but the last 2 videos have been a real huge step from that. Wow! I really love the editing and quality of your videos. Keep up the good work Benji!
To the viewers concerned about the eggs: Austin (the guy who helps benji edit videos, he edited this one) edited this video. If you notice they show the cream sauce going in the pot. Benji says to keep the flame low. Next they gradually add the cheese. Automatically you'll notice the cheese is all melted. It takes more than 3 seconds for cheese to melt. So while the cheese and butter are melting all the way the egg has time to cook. Egg doesn't take long we all know that :) so the egg is cooked, the video just speeds up the process.
Benji, will you be making a video for the mac & cheese that everyone asks you for, i.e., the baked one (or are you keeping that recipe a secret lol)? The other one looks absolutely delicious! I'm not looking for the easiest one I want an authentic one.
The fact that this was so quick and didn't really take that too much time, I love this version. Might try soon, maybe as a school lunch. I was also fascinated how Benji's version turned out, and that you didn't have to go and take the extra work in. Love it.
Thank god for people like you Benji! I'm a student with absolutely no aptitude for cooking and your videos are definitely giving me a good start in my learning process :)
Thank you Benji! I will make this tomorrow night! :D The next day: I made this tonight and it was AMAZING!!!! My fiance and I LOVED this recipe. I substituted the condensed milk for light cream, and the butter for smart balance vegan butter (to reduce amount of saturated fat and cholesterol). I used 12 oz sharp cheddar cheese, and I added one head of cauliflower (cut into smaller florets). Thanks so much!
Yum!! Could you do a video on your tomato plants? On keeping them healthy and how often you water them? I have a tomato plant but I'm not sure how often to water and how much. I would love to hear what you do! Thanks!! (:
Just tried this recipe and it is delicious!! I didn't have any evaporated milk so i just added 1 tablespoon of corn starch to 1 cup of milk, did the job. Thanks Benji!!
Nice video, I'm gonna try this Mac and Cheese. I called it USA style in my recipe book because in Belgium we make it differently. For the people with another metric system I converted the ingredients: butter = 70g, cheese = 350 g and the milk is 200 ml.
I think they were referring to Benji's lack of vocabulary, not yours :) I think just because he said "go ahead" a lot. Not a big deal of course. I agree, loved the video, look forward to trying the recipe.
emma oliver Ya don't say!! It's a suggestion, not a demand. The delivery would be better if he switched up his phrasing. Kind of like when you're writing a paper and you start every sentence with "I" or "The." If he ends up wanting his own cooking show, which would be awesome, he could benefit from some critiques. Everybody wants to make great videos.
I made this the other night for the family and it was a HUGE hit! Super easy is right! I did make a slight alteration and it was still yummy! I didn't add the cayenne pepper as the family are super sensitive to spicy stuff (ugh!). I did use sprinkle some real bacon crumbs on top and tad bit of sour cream. Really yummy!
Finally! I've been waiting for a mac&cheese video for quite awhile :D Would love to see the mac&cheese recipe shown in the vlogs, the one where you bake it. Totally understand why you put this recipe up, its easy and super quick the other one seems a bit more complex, hopefully you'll make a video of it though!
Did Austin also edit the video? He did a great job :) Also a suggestion, you should use a wooden spoon instead of a metal one. When you scrape against a metal pot with a metal spoon, little pieces of metal can get in your dish. Plus, it won't make that scrapping sound lol :) hope that's helpful!
The mac and cheese looks incredible, you could add some of that shredded cheese to the top and bake it so its crunchy and brown on top as well. But I like the loose version from the pot as well. Great video style in these newer videos Benji.
I actually did a little squeal of excitement when I saw this video come up in my subscription box, been waiting for ages for this recipe, it looks so good!! :D
Tried this recipe last night for dinner, so cheesy and creamy! Best Mac and cheese I've ever had. And I'm pretty particular when it comes to food and cheese!!
I've been waiting for this video...'cause every time I see you cook mac and cheese in the vlogs, I get so jelly jelly! Haha, thanks for the upload Benji :D
he eats raw egg.... but he gets fresh eggs...id keep the heat on medium low and continue to cook it for a few more minutes....also it will thicken it and thats always better for me... but this is a good recipe

Just made this for dinner. It was indeed easy and fast. Turned out delicious and just the right texture like boxed Mac and cheese. I used sharp cheddar for my cheese, didn't have any dry mustard though. It was delicious! Go light on the salt though for the sauce because the cheese is salty as well, learn from my mistake lol. Thank you for finally posting this!
When I make Mac and Cheese from scratch, it's always yellow (then again I'm not stingy with the cheese lol) I make the noodles, put It in a bowl and leave it aside. Then in a pot I mix whole milk, flour, pepper, tons of sharp chedder cheese and stir. Then I pour it on top of the noodles and mix. Of course you can bake it for about 15 minutes with or without breadcrumbs but I choose not to.
Wow I never would've thought to use evaporated milk! I love to cook but hate spending so much time in the kitchen so I love how quick and easy this is! Thanks so much Benji! P.s. Kudos to Austin on the editing - the videos are looking great! :)
tried this today was really quick and simple (great when you have little time before work and forgot to make yourself any lunch like an idiot -_-) ... really tasty and kept really well in a thermos container. Thanks benji will definitely be tuning in again x
sorry its taken me so long. i just used cheddar i would maybe next time put a little less cheese in and a little more pepper but apart from that it worked great and was tasty for such a quick fix :)
but you know everyone wanted the one you bake right? the one always in the blog.
I was hoping for the baked one too. But I am still going to try this one. It looks reaaaally good.
***** you guys can always use this recipe and put it in a casserole dish put some bread crumbs on top and bake it. :)
vlog* and yeah, i am gonna try maybe.. the cheese he used would be new to me. lol
greatbrittanyy you don't have to use the cheese he used. I would maybe try the cheese first just to make sure you like the flavor. Could always go for the classic cheddar cheese

This recipe has become a staple for us at least every other week! We pair it with sautéed spinach and have our meatless meal. Thanks so much, Benji!
What happened to the baked mac and cheese the one with the white sauce? That one looked much more appetizing
Thank god for people like you Benji! I'm a student with absolutely no aptitude for cooking and your videos are definitely giving me a good start in my learning process :)
Thank you Benji! I will make this tomorrow night! :D

Agreed!! Please Benji! :)
That might be easier to film in the summer when he actually has plants to film
Just tried this recipe and it is delicious!! I didn't have any evaporated milk so i just added 1 tablespoon of corn starch to 1 cup of milk, did the job. Thanks Benji!!

Not such great variety of vocabulary !
I think they were referring to Benji's lack of vocabulary, not yours :) I think just because he said "go ahead" a lot. Not a big deal of course. I agree, loved the video, look forward to trying the recipe.
relax, i'm not even english and i was joking! lol I never said i didn't liked the video
"you're gonna wanna go ahead and..." switch up your phrasing every now and then!
Lol
emma oliver same
Lol!
Why should he? Of all the things in this video that's what bothered you? Lol
emma oliver Ya don't say!! It's a suggestion, not a demand. The delivery would be better if he switched up his phrasing. Bruh, you are the man! 👏 Making this dish for the family Easter Sunday. Oh how I wish I could taste this through my laptop! 😅

Also a suggestion, you should use a wooden spoon instead of a metal one. When you scrape against a metal pot with a metal spoon, little pieces of metal can get in your dish. Plus, it won't make that scrapping sound lol :) hope that's helpful!
Can't wait to try!!! Thank you Benji!! Your family is awesome :)
I am a college student and the thought of cooking overwhelms me so these easy recipes like this get me excited to try :D
My mums mac'n'cheese is almost the same as this but with less ingredients. That's how we do it in the carribean.
You inspire me to cook more.
The mac and cheese looks incredible, you could add some of that shredded cheese to the top and bake it so its crunchy and brown on top as well. But I like the loose version from the pot as well. Great video style in these newer videos Benji.

This looks delicious :) I think the spiral pasta would be a little better because theres more for the cheese to cling to!
Definetly going to try this recipe! but one thing.. aren't you just eating raw eggs?
The heat from the pasta actually cooks them and also I can be wrong but I think he kept the heat on low when he added the sauce
he eats raw egg.... but he gets fresh eggs...id keep the heat on medium low and continue to cook it for a few more minutes....also it will thicken it and thats always better for me... but this is a good recipe

The long-awaited mac n' cheese recipe! This makes me so happy. Thank you, Benji! : )
Just made this for dinner. It was indeed easy and fast. Turned out delicious and just the right texture like boxed Mac and cheese. I made this today for dinner but only added one egg and it was delicious! It literally took me three minutes to assemble :)
Awesome editing Benji! For sure trying this recipe, I love mac n cheese!
I have never tried mac and cheese. It's noting we eat here in Sweden but I will give this a try tomorrow. Thank you Benji!
I wonder how Kraft Mac and Cheese make it so yellow. Food coloring? lol Can you do your Hashbrown recipe please like the one in your vlogs? Thanks!
Something called "yellow 5" and other chemicals! So unhealthy.
Well, you could get that if you used orange cheddar, but it would never be as yellow as yellow
They use chemicals. If you want it yellow just use lighter cheeses. But be mindful of the flavor. Some cheeses have strong taste.
Wow I never would've thought to use evaporated milk! I love to cook but hate spending so much time in the kitchen so I love how quick and easy this is! Thanks so much Benji! P.s. Kudos to Austin on the editing - the videos are looking great! :)

Just tried making this with my sister! The video was so much help! Although I did not add the dry mustard to the recipe it tasted quite as good.
I just made this and it turned out really well! It was my first time making mac and cheese and it was super easy! Thanks Benji!
