It's beautiful from an addiction standpoint -- he's coming out of decades+ of intoxication and he returns to essentially a garage setup to "recover" what it is to be a musician.
I've always found the song itself to be a unsuspectingly powerful testament to the "tomorrow is just the day after yesterday" feeling that EVERY day feels like when you're strung out, and/or attempting to get stuff together to make sure you don't get ill....ugh...
Both fit, there is no love here and there is no pain, very similar.... Occasionally I do this too, replace lyrics with almost better lyrics because of how I heard it in my head. Example, "it just takes some time, a little bit of in the middle of the ride, everything, everything will be alright" instead of "it just takes some time, little girl you're in the middle of the ride"
Love Trent's little vocal flair at 3:30 His flourishes when singing live are awesome And it just makes me smile when I see him rocking out on the tambourine
I love this song because of how many ways it can be interpreted. My personal viewpoint on it is he got tired being messed up whilst touring in the past. He recognized that within himself, and he's reflecting on it. I also see him sort of singing about the feeling of major depression and how old it can get for your mind and how people so easily can get/feel stuck during it.
Oh, to have only been there, during this masterpiece. Spot on, comparing to album version. Trent, robotic/hypnotic, at the same time. Twiggy's spot on bass riff. Drums and keyboards, perfectly aligned! Brilliant. Keep on NIN. Always will be a huge fan.
I love 💗NIN💗, saw them at Manchester Academy in about 1993. Still the best gig of my life!! This song also sums up the last 17 months bloody perfectly?
I️ do not share a lot of the same views as Trent...but that’s completely fine. One thing I️ can tell you is that I️ absolutely Love his passion for his music! You can see it in his performance....hear it in his voice. You can tell when it means so much to an artist by just observing them. With Trent it’s not show, it’s passion and dedication for the music he is putting out.
@@Cryogenics12 trent has gotten political in these last few years. he leans more on the left side but i still appreciate his music despite disagreeing in terms of politics
Same here. He went full tumblr when he said that Taylor Swift should speak up and voice her opinion against Trump because she has millions of fans and could have an influence on them. That's the most tone deaf stance I've ever seen Trent take. First of all, who wants to hear a wealthy pop star who writes break up songs to make political statements? And second, Trent strictly wanted Taylor to trash Trump, as if that's the only correct answer. I'm not a fan of Trump but I'll be damned if some entertainer is going to dictate to me what the correct opinion is.
He had a heart condition during the show in San Diego, collapsed on stage behind the kit. After that, they brought in Josh Freese until they landed Illa Rubin.
@@ChristopherRae Yeah, I know that part of it (I saw them at the Garden on that tour, one of the few shows post-Dillon, pre-Freese's availabiity...the kid who filled in actually ROCKED though, especially on heavy, tricky shit like "You Know What You Are?"), but Dillon later complained that basically after this incident, he was 'frozen out' of the band---unable to get in touch with anybody, trying to talk to Trent about since he was recovered, when/if could he come back to the fold? Even if TR had decided to replace him in the aftermath, it's unlike him to be 'dodgy' about it...I always wondered if, being that this was Reznor's first full 'sober' tour, if he had made a sort of assumption that what happened to Dillon was drug-related in some fashion, and so distanced himself, so to speak, in that fashion? But that's just an attempt at filling in the blanks, so...
This video is definitely not from 2005, because Trent’s look is attributable to 2000 or 2001. I can’t explain how EDIETS ended up in "With Teeth". The only explanation is that this was a track stored in the drawer until WT was released. What do you think?
This song is great, no doubt, but what it does, it makes me ponder about my own life and my own goals ... that's why I love it even more and just added it to my Shellshocked Radio Recommendation List: ua-cam.com/video/KakHd1OAjmA/v-deo.html

I always thought that the lyrics were "There is no loss here, and there is no gain."
That actually sounds great to me! You're genius!
The words say everything

One of my favorite NIN songs

2023-
Relatable this day just as it was 23 years past.
Truly superb. They're "in the zone."
Great song. It was GREAT in the movie "Wanted". I miss Nine Inch Nails.
The best composed song I’ve ever heard, so sick

@@user-fi2zs2ww1r It's been longer than the last few. The events of Year Zero (a concept album that tells a story) basically started in 2016.

Surprisingly awesome. Still loving EVERYTHING about you, Trent.
I waited on line for this Cd 💿 Trent’s Comeback🥷
Chilling song.
Brilliant
This is brilliant
He beat a few bars extra into that colour changing tambourine because it continues playing once he throws it away.
I think this is very good
when you are so awesome you can throw your tambourine behind the amps and just keep singing.... jesus.....
Wow
YEEAAAHHH
Trent ❤️❤️❤️
Severus Snape? joke, love this song
I will always wonder what exactly happened with Jerome. Best NIN drummer.
He had a heart condition during the show in San Diego, collapsed on stage behind the kit. After that, they brought in Josh Freese until they landed Illa Rubin.
Yea lol that sucks. At least he didn't get injured by Trent again.

Clean take or clean mix? Nice
such a true heroin story
Anyone know who the drummer on these rehearsals were?
Jerome Dillon
What brand of drums are they using in this?

Oh Iggy Ramirez!
Do someone know what setting (EQ and stuff) gives me that harsh sound on the Vocals?
could it be alot of compression?maybe...
I think Trent just compresses tf out of his vocals.
Superior to the album version IMO
Excuse me, what is Twiggy doing here?
Shiiiit...Trent and Troy Van Leeuwen look like brothers.)
wish the drummer did the dave grohl version
I think I used to have a voice. Now I never make a sound.
Pandemia song
