Hey,@@linasidji8311.. you were trying to say Muslim men, right? Are circumcised, too? After all, Muslims have a common ancestor with Jews in Abraham. It is still pretty much the norm in American society, too.. at least 90%, especially among the older generations. It may not be as status quo in the younger generation, like teens & 20s but still pro'bly 80%. I think it's also a common practice in Latin American countries, because of the influence of the Catholic church. I would be surprised if it's not true. I know the practice started with the Jewish nation, but the practice was adopted by Christians & the Catholic church & I guess Islam, too. The practice just tends to be more sanitary, IMO.

Interesting, the "we're such a small country what can we do about climate change" is so often used in my home country, which is very big in land area and very small in population, and one of the most forested regions left in Europe. Yet because we are a developed country and society has been modeled in the capitalist-consumerist vein, the average CO2 emissions per person is about 9.31. I read somewhere that if everyone had the same quota of carbon emissions per year, an average Finn would use theirs up somewhere around early April I think. The average CO2 emission per capita in Korea in 2019 was 12.7. So if we all think that we're so small we'll have no impact no matter what we do... well, there will definitely be no impact then. Almost right after you talked about the topic of climate change in Korea you talked about the huge consumer culture, even. That didn't really add up to me.
I've noticed this...while I think individuals should be mindful it's not entirely their faults they have been in a society that literally shoves consumerism down their throats. Literally. Especially for ppl living in a dense place like seoul where there are shops, cafes, and ads everywhere. Plastic everywhere. I thought the same thing! I was like, wtf Danny! Nordstrom is really expensive!! Maybe he meant to say Nordstrom Rack- now they have stuff I can afford😂
It's so interesting that a lot of things are compared to the US and then 8000/7000 a year tuition is called cheap TT. In Europe there are countries where it's free or max 2000/3000 euros a year (+/-2,3K or 3,4K dollars)
In Greece univerities are free (there are some private colleges that are expensive but in general universities are considered a lot better in terms of quality) but you have to pass exams to get in of course. Then most postgraduate studies are around 2.500-3000 for 1.5 years. So when I hear about 8000 a year tuitions I am like 😳
A lot of people say that university is free in France but in fact it's just that most people don't have to pay because they have scholarship. This scholarship reward you with : not having to pay the tuition fee, meals cost 1€, priority on university housing...It's not given to the best student but in fonction of your parent's earning. The poorer you are the more the government will give you. My family is in the middle class so we are not that rich but quite good financially. This year I will receive 1724€ (~170€ per month). The minimum is 1042€ and the maximum is 5736€. There was a problem with the administration this year so my scholarship was delayed and I had to pay 300€. So it's not "free" but a lot cheaper compared to others countries and there's a lot of help thanks to taxes.
Climate change needs to be discussed more in SK :/ South Korea is a small country in size, but it has huge corporations. In most official statistics South Korea is in the top 10 of most polluting countries in the world
Yeah, this way of thinking is so weird to me. Most of Korea's climate problem comes from China Most of our large factories are abroad, and 70% of our land is made up of mountains. It means narrow. China recently retaliated for not buying coal from Australia, and they cut electricity production. Currently, the sky in Korea is the clearest I have seen in 10 years. You can see the stars in Seoul
@@coroanegra5761 that's why I specified "polluting" not polluted. I lived in Korea for a year in the early 90s (husband was in the army and I joined him there, we're American) we lived in (forgive the spelling) bong IL chon (?) About 25km from the DMZ. We wanted to experience Korea and not just be like those soldiers who just go from post to post or hang in the town stationed. We liked to go to the subway and randomly pick a stop and just go explore (we didnt speak Korean or read Hangul). It was so fun! Shoo!! So much pressure in Korea. South Africa is not a safe country but talking to strangers is common. You can literally walk past a stranger and say hello. Walking barefoot is common as well especially for kids. Most men are circumcised. Some through vigorous traditional measures. Interesting video. Ta!
I am still weirded out when koreans constantly mention how South Korea is a small country. Maybe by land it's not really that big but it has bigger population than most European countries(It would be 6th most populated country if it was in Europe). So saying South Korea doesn't really have impact on climate change kinda dismisses most of the world.
honestly? most of the world is not responsible for climate change. the united states alone is responsible for 30% of global energy use and 28% of carbon emissions. the entire continent of africa is responsible for less than 3% of all carbon emission in the world. if it sounds like some countries don’t really impact it that much it’s because they don’t. (not saying this is the case for SK, just answering the last part of your comment)
This might be controversial but I live in Japan and it’s very similar especially when it comes to recycling etc so at least there are more recycling countries than you think
I would like to say something about the climate change issue. Yes, Korea is one of the "reycling-nations", right behind Germany. However, when he said "Korea is only a small country" I wanted to scream at him! Recycling won't save us from climate change! Germany has more inhabitants than Korea, but still does more against climate change and has lower Co2-emissions per capita than Korean, Furthermore, the whole "but other countries are bigger and THEY should do something" won't get us anywhere! Imagine what could be possible if all of the smaller and middle-sized countries united! Maybe China, USA and India will follow
Love it! Honest and straight to the point. Want to see this series go on! I got a few questions myself: What is this kchrrr sound Koreans make to comment on someone or rather what does it mean? Is it sarcastic or a sign of agreement? Being so frank in this video, in which situations are you behaving much more to the (perceived) Korean norm aka contained? Is that behaviour changing in younger generations? What about mental health issues, depression and burnout? Are they still taboo, not talked about and is there any network for help? Are there any signs that the competitiveness and heteronomous pressure in all areas of life (from after school tuition till late at night, beauty standards, what you can afford to even a competitive drinking culture) is lessening? Could you explain the concept of 'some' (the stage before dating)? To me it seems confusing when Koreans are said to commit very fast.
It’s interesting that you said “keeping up with the Joneses”. That term comes from the film capital of the US, Wilmington North Carolina … my home a beautiful beach town which is also where Michael Jordan is from
I'm American and I'm married to a Korean man with two little girls. My in-laws were fairly supportive. As against interracial marriage as older people may be, they LOVE half-foreign kids! We get stopped all the time (literally every day) for older people to gush over our kids.
WOW, I just searched the seoul national university yearly tuition for international students and its 6.33 million won, which is like 4000 euros. WOW thats sooooo cheap, SPECIALLY for a top tier university like SNU. Here in europe (at least where I live) this is also the average university tuition price but those universities are like community colleges, NOTHING compared to SNU. Im honestly shocked

Loved listening to you guys answering random questions. I will for sure check out part 1 and hope for a part 3! We Americans are just learning about South Korea and your beautiful culture. I love your language as it is very comforting to hear.
Answering everyday questions like this/these is what i consider really helpful to understand
and get into a culture. People might wonder about these things for years instead of asking randos,
so i appreciate you taking your time to explain stuff.
Thank you guys for sharing this. I was always anxious about going to korea however now i feel very confortable and confident about visiting. I'll start practicing my hangoul.
I love these kinds of videos! You guys are SO good at it, because you not only express your opinions and points of view, you also consider people from other generations and stuff
I really miss the EXPLAINED videos! I learned so much about music and culture from them!
I hope you guys do those again!
OMG YES PT2!!!! Can't wait for pt3~~~
Thank you so much for your honest information
Danny is looking good, this length of hair really suits him
Snack.
Not at all. Long hair in the front suits him.
4:30 Regarding weight.. i am someone who is a bit on the skinny range, people mostly would tell me to become plump, from where I come from plump is healthy.
Love Danny and David! I live in the middle of America and love learning about other cultures.
Nordstrom is definitely Not affordable for the average person... like David said Walmart is a cheap ass clothing store. But its America we have both cheap & expensive.
We saw burial mounds small amusement parks, awesome markets , great street food etc. Kind of a weird way to do it but it was an adventure and super fun! I recommend.
Oh and about weddings, in our small village, we had the honor of seeing a traditional wedding procession and it was the coolest thing ever. Also when we went to Gyeongbokgung palace & saw people getting wedding photos done. Super cool
You picked my question! Thank you for answering it😊
Yes, part 3 please! I love these question/answer videos.
This is so awesome, you once again answered questions I didn’t know I wondered about!🤣. Looking forward to more!
I did an interview with Stephen Park (Asian Boss) and the first question he asked me was my age 😂
You mean Stephen Kim? Danny's alter ego? /s
@@hpjjreec6456 no, Stephen Park of Asian Boss UA-cam channel. Media start up. Based in South Korea. There's a vid on DKDKTV channel meeting him at Korea UA-cam workshop for SK UA-camrs
It's so that he knows which type of speech to use, informal or formal. Informal for same age or younger and formal for older.
@@MuddyPigg yep I know...I'm a Korean New Zealander ...just not used to it here as a normal everyday occurrence
Aww, he's so cool. I love him
Shoo!! So much pressure in Korea.
South Africa is not a safe country but talking to strangers is common.
You can literally walk past a stranger and say hello.
Walking barefoot is common as well especially for kids.
Most men are circumcised. Some through vigorous traditional measures.
Interesting video. Ta!
17:46 I FEEL CALLED OUT HELP😭 it makes me feel connected with nature alright (only at parks and beaches, defs not streets lol)
@Sangay Zam that's so crazy 😨 my country has a population of 274 million ppl. i think you can guess i live in asia.
I think English is not your strong point. They did not dismiss climate change. Go back and listen again. Carefully
honestly? most of the world is not responsible for climate change. the united states alone is responsible for 30% of global energy use and 28% of carbon emissions. the entire continent of africa is responsible for less than 3% of all carbon emission in the world. if it sounds like some countries don’t really impact it that much it’s because they don’t. (not saying this is the case for SK, just answering the last part of your comment)
We are in the same boat, people. Everybody is responsible for climate change.
I would love a part 3!
Everything is really interesting!
I like David straightforward style and honesty.
I had to pause the video and laugh when David asked, "is the world not circumcised?" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That’s in our culture too we also have a lot of side dishes and we have big tables full of food
It’s interesting that you said “keeping up with the Joneses”. That term comes from the film capital of the US, Wilmington North Carolina … my home a beautiful beach town which is also where Michael Jordan is from
It's really cool to see you guys being super fucking honest, because literally kdramas & kpop portray SK in a whole different light.
13:49 Best yet!
David: We're not in war or anything (chuckle)
Danny: Technically we are...
David: ... I guess we are...
Part 3 please! These are fun.
Great to know another Se So Neon music lover and it's one of my fav youtuber.
"how can you make friends if koreans are shy"
"you dont"
Yep. Totally true lol
I'm American and I'm married to a Korean man with two little girls. My in-laws were fairly supportive. As against interracial marriage as older people may be, they LOVE half-foreign kids! We get stopped all the time (literally every day) for older people to gush over our kids.
Love the honesty 💜
"+we're not on war or anything...
-technically we are..." LMAO
I love these videos. super informative and interesting!
Rewatching again because why not?
Love these videos - i wouldn't mind a part 3!
I loved this video, could listen to this for hours. Its such an easy listen.
5:17 "You're asking the wrong question to the wrong people." 🤣 🤣 🤣
Hope you guys do a part 3!! I love these Q&A about Korea!
Really liked this ... very insightful... thank you
yess thanks for pt2
yes. Part 3 please
This was great! Very informative. Yes, please, Part 3. A small group of us (from the US) are in the planning stages to visit Korea next year.
Welcome back, Danny!
That was great! I'd love a part 3!
I had no idea about circumcision been common in Korea o.o
Nordstrom?! That's actually considered expensive here haha I used to worked there
I was thinking the same! When danny said Nordstrom was a cheap ass store I was like HUHH??
Maybe he's referring to Nordstrom Rack
Well that was interesting.
Yes please, for Part 3.
Love your honesty guys❤️✨
새 서년 LETS GOOOO THEY ARE MY FAVORITEEEEES!!!!!!! i'm in love with Soyoon. and I also really love Hyukoh but who doesn't!
Honest answers to questions👍👏❤
We need to know more ..we need part 3 😌❤️
WOW, I just searched the seoul national university yearly tuition for international students and its 6.33 million won, which is like 4000 euros. WOW thats sooooo cheap, SPECIALLY for a top tier university like SNU. Here in europe (at least where I live) this is also the average university tuition price but those universities are like community colleges, NOTHING compared to SNU. Im honestly shocked
Loved this! Could watch this for hours
A lot of these questions were really good! Very interesting to listen to
BTS 💜, 2 Days 1 Night Season 4, Kim Seon Ho 💙, Park Bo Gum, Penthouse, and Sky Castle have been really making this pandemic bearable for me. They just make me happy and smile.... prolly not the moms, dads, and kids of Penthouse and Sky Castle though. Hehe.
Loved this! Thank you!
The fact that Samsung, Hyundai build stuff that goes all over the world ... so don't underestimate how much effect even a small population could have across the world. Especially as an example for the world
My mom said Korean girls get double eyelid surgery when they graduate high school and it serves as their graduation gift ..so I guess she was right lol
This is accurate.
My friend's parents gave her older sister a nose job as a high school graduation present.
loved the clarification that yall are business partners 😂
Nordstrom is not considered a "cheap" clothing store in the United States.
New here and I thought Part 1 was great!
I just watched this and i think i need part 3!! Please answer questions about kdrama, actors, or actress.. who is the most popular actors and actress for koreans?😀
