It is crazy how good a raid leader can be. Good example is we were having trouble with Azshara in Eternal Palace. Couldn't get it done. Someone knew a good raid leader, and he came in and it took us two times to down her. Dude was good, good instruction, calm, and explained the fight so everyone in the raid understood it. Ahmpy just knows everything there is to know about classic WoW. Dude's good. And I still say he sounds just like Dr. Drew.

Indeed we did. Prog through MC was hard, along with every other raid in Vanilla. My roommate and I lead our "farm group" for MC back when we were in college, and on a good night we cleared it out in 3-4 hours. That farm group had alts in it, newbs, and some mains who still came along to help or find some random trinket. Sometimes we had to return a second night to kill Rag. Nowadays people just steamroll it, along with everything else in Vanilla. Then again, it's almost 20-year old content now. Back in Vanilla, we had extremely limited resources to help us in the raid, and game in general. For example: - UA-cam didn't exist yet. - For raid strategies, we had to figure it out on our own, or perhaps gather information from other guilds and forums, or at least those who were willing to share information. - Our computer hardware was inferior. - Blizzard's server hardware was inferior. - The general player's skill level was much lower. - The general player base didn't fully understand the game yet. - Addons were either inferior or nonexistent. Our guild was Obsidian Spur on the Sargeras realm. We co-ran a raid with Team eXecute, which was created from some people who used to be in Obsidian Spur originally, as well as Anarchic Asylum. I played a forsaken priest named Wretchedmist, and my roommate played a tauren warrior named Jt.
Ferals require an insane amount of prep and still are not that great on dps. Balance druids run out of mana insanely fast. Resto can grief by having heal over time spells remove buffs since there is a cap on that number. The main reason they bring is for mark of the wild buff.
These fights are many times faster from what I remember back in the days. I suppose it's not just because of more buffs, it must have been significally nerfed, right?
The bosses haven’t been nerfed. Everything is optimized nowadays. They’re using world buffs for every raid. From the Onyxia head turn in and the heart of Hakkar turn in from zg. And a few others that increase dmg/crit/movement speed and stats. Plus every alchemy elixir/flask that is useful. The best items to wear for every class is now figured out as well. Dps is probably triple or more of what you experienced back in the day.
Release the "Chronoboon Displacer". I am assuming it refrencing this item which withholds world buffs like rallying cry of the dragonslayer or/and blessing of rend warchief. It will swallow the buffs as you "receive" them and you can "boon" to have them at a more appropriate hour.
I dont understand why the need to go so fast all the time? I mean in regular Im all for speed running, but on HC trying to save 5 minutes could cost you 5 days of work.
I watched them do Naxx earlier now and they were much slower and much more precise. Surgical is the word I was looking for earlier and thats what they were this time! RL even said many times 'slow down guys'. I guess they just didnt respect MC at all lol. @@thedman623

For pulling mobs, dive gives more movement than dash would from a cat. They’re not bringing hunters for their dps.

the design isn't the issue because you have to accoutn for the entire 1-60 process which takes people 2 weeks max if they're not sweating now, 20 years later. Before, it took like 3-6 months to get 60 if you were brand new. 1 month if you were old enough and had some previous mmo experience. Still, a month of play time for the leveling experience? Most games can't boast a week of playtime now. The game wasn't designed for high end min/maxed raiding and the balance was never addressed because dumb blizzard decided to go to TBC instead of fixing vanilla.

To an extent, I do agree but it really depends on the encounter. I (accidentally) tanked Garr on my ele shaman in cloth gear, nothing happened. Dude hits like a wet noodle. Sometimes it's safer just to end the encounter as quickly as possible. Other times, yeah, I'd agree but I just I looked at a couple bosses now and I do very much see a tank switching to a shield as soon as threat is not an issue anymore. Edit: I actually checked every boss now. There is no shield on Geddon bc that dude deals fire damage. There is none on Shazzrah bc most of his damage is arcane damage and threat needs to be generated quickly. If you get hit for less than 10% of your health every couple seconds, you don't need a shield. Literally on every other boss, someone was wearing a shield.
