I built my own "Jaycade" bartop yesterday using my Evercade VS (obviously), a 15.6" 1080p IPS portable monitor I picked up at CEX (In TATE orientation) and a Hori Mini Arcade Stick. Built the cabinet from bits and pieces I picked up at Hobbycraft and B&Q for about £30 and after a lick of paint, it's all up and running. Plays great and the 4:3 games still utilise 9" of the monitor when in TATE Mode so still a bit bigger than the Alpha. Really happy how it worked out and will see how much I use it between now and November. If I use it enough, I'll probably pick up the standard Mega Man Edition Alpha after release. The dimensions of my custom cabinet are only about an inch bigger than the Alpha and just saying, you're going to need a fair amount of desk/shelf space for when the Alpha is released. Sounds awesome Jamie, I am miles to lazy to so something like that myself, Same with roms etc. So glad Evercade are doing it for me 😂😂

The game grew on me, I think it's one of the better GBstudio games on evercade.

It's game boy style so it's instantly won me over a bit. There are map shenanigans. And hopefully there's a decent amount to it. I need to get past that boss first lmao 🤣🤣🤣

I got some good news this morning: Evercade is sending me a replacement EXP (a whole new console!) after I sent them proof of the battery's failure.

That's good man. My battery hasn't completely failed but the machine does get plenty warm after awhile and the battery is very short. I've got the OG white one. Which is why I'm updating to a R but will keep this for Capcom and Namco.

I would not want to own both an EXP and an EXP-R... both would collect dust. Too bad there's no link cable for two player mode, hm? Owning two of them would, then, have some function. (And I own doubles of several handheld consoles for that reason.)

So far all 3 of the Game of the Month for me has been underwhelming, hopefully they get better or Indie Heroes 4 will be a lacklustre cart

I hope you find something you like with some of the weeks. I totally hear what your saying though, the puzzle game was a bit basic. But I've enjoyed the other two offerings so far.

It will be interesting to see what resolution the Alpha screen runs at because all it states is an 8-inch high-resolution screen, but what is that 720p 1080p or lower ? It's a question I've not seen answered as of yet. I wish Blaze well with the launch of the Alpha, but I'm going down picking up a vs-r bundle with tomb raider and an 8-bit do arcade stick to play my arcade carts at 1080p on my tv.

I'd assume 1080: that's what the factories in China are cranking out in 2024.

8-bitdo is terrible, in my honest opinion: get some Sanwa and Seimitsu parts together -in some other context I'd say classic Hori is a viable option, but for the Evercade VS it is not.

@VEGANVANIA I already have a high spec arcade stick I built myself that will work perfectly on the VS. The 8bitdo is a cheaper way for me to get a 2-player joystick experience instead of player 2 being left with an evercade controller to play on, but thanks, I appreciate the comment 👍

Looks like a better game than Donut Dodo: I can't believe how overrated that was. On a scale of "garbage" to "recyclable" I would rate Donut Dodo "utter garbage".
