  • I have a new design published by Making Magazine! My pattern for a 'knit dickey' (what can I say, they chose the name...) is now published in Making Winter Vol.4, the Gifts edition - amongst some wonderful company! (Scroll down for links) In this month's (slightly tardy) episode of my studio vlog, I chat much more about the process of designing and making this piece. I have lots of ideas for weird & wonderful accessories - O if only time weren't a factor, I would bombard you delightful knitters with so many more patterns. Even so, crochet has been a wonderful respite. PLUS my exhibition is now open!! I update you on my artist residency at Kew Gardens Archive which has been ongoing since the summer.
Thanks so much for watching and being here with me across the last year. There have been a LOT of ups & downs, and I deeply appreciate your company and your support. At the moment things are Up, but I am pragmatic as always - they won't stay Up forever! I rest easy knowing that I have such a wonderful & understanding audience when I inevitably face the next Down.
THANKS FOR JOINING ME AT THE CRIMSON STITCHERY!
    I appreciate you!

I really would have liked hearing you speaking of all the lovely sock patterns you showed once on this channel. Knitting podcasts on the toile show sock patterns not half as beautiful as yours. Thank you for showing them off once Alain. Please

I love your podcasts, and it won't change my enthusiadm for them, but your log cabin pattern would have deserved a brighter colour, and even colourS in order to make the Best of it, in my opinion of course. When will you be able to have the pattern to your on ?

Your artist residency sounds amazing! I wish I could visit Kew Gardens. It sort of reminds me of the art Sophia Cai did around the infamous "blue willow" pattern. I think you have a really interesting perspective on the value systems clash. I'm equal parts interested in and disgusted by that era of obsessive categorization in the 'West', the development of so many lists and hierarchies. The Virgo in me appreciates the desire to organize knowledge, but it also veered into horrific territory or was the handmaiden of capitalism and colonialism.

Yes you're absolutely right, the drive to categorise everything created the justification of faux hierarchies of race...my work has questioned the knowledge acquired through unnamed peoples within a system so absolutely obsessed with naming things [after white ppl]

Well done, Anushka! Congratulations on your exhibition. This was a very engaging vlog.
One question about the crochet jacket you're intending to make from the squares: how do you spell the name?

Balaclavas definitely intrigue me because I've never quiteeeee made a hat that I love for all of the occasions I could use one. PetiteKnit has a couple of dicky patterns that she just calls "__vague collection description___ Neck" and I like those too. And I'd love your takes on convertible fingerless mitts; my mom has requested some ☺️.
I've been making plastic grocery bag holders out of granny squares by making them into a tube. I'm planning on giving them as presents, but I'm not stressing if I can't finish in time lol. They're not as sweet and pretty as yours!!!! What weight yarn are you using for the granny squares?
