The Ralph is considered one of the most luxurious hockey arenas in the world, not just the NCHC. Marble floors, elevators/escalators, leather seats, cherry wood armrests, indoor pyrotechnics, two fully stocked bars (alongside cans and taps periodically), and a unbeatable atmosphere.
Hockey is always good! BTW, Arizona State will be joining the conference next season! Right now they are independent. Fun Fact: The NHL considered using Ralph Englestad Arena for the COVID bubble!
Not mentioned here but perhaps more unique at the Ralph (also great nickname) than the video board is the fact there’s a lot of marble throughout the building. It was also done with some controversy in mind since a lot of the marble work prominently features their old Fighting Sioux logo. Englestad used to play for UND and loved the logo so he had it put throughout the building so that it would be impossible to rip it out if the nickname ever changed (which it did a few years ago)
I didn't know this until I read your comment but I could tell by the layout. Looks like a lot of junior league arenas we have in the prairies (Canada) that get really loud. Like you're almost sitting on the ice.
Yay my school has the best arena in the conference. But I went there with the old arena. The old area was a sister building of the RPI arena. Both were naval buildings in WWII, taken apart and rebuild on the respective campuses as hockey arenas. The old CC rink would be rockin when CC hosted DU.
I've been to the other Ralph Englestad Arena. It's located in the town of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and though it has a capacity of just 3,500, it's a pretty nice venue.
Do one for the Hockey East conference! It contains the following arenas: Conte Forum (Boston College Eagles) (Boston MA) Agganis Arena (Boston University Terriers) (Boston MA) Alfond Sports Arena (Maine Black Bears) (Orono ME) Volpe Athletic Complex (Merrimack Warriors) (North Andover MA) Whittemore Center (New Hampshire Wildcats) (Durham NH) Matthews Arena (Northeastern Huskies) (Boston MA) Schneider Arena (Providence Friars) (Providence RI) Toscano Family Ice Forum (UConn Huskies) (Storrs CT) Mullins Center (UMass Minutemen) (Amherst MA) Tsongas Center (UMass Lowell River Hawks) (Lowell MA) Gutterson Fieldhouse (Vermont Catamounts) (Burlington VT)
No one came close in 2001 and no one comes close in 2023. Grew up going to games there and it’s one of HOCKEY’s best venues. In little Grand Forks ND of all places. Side note - long live the old WCHA.
The WCHA was never the same. Other than the schools affiliated with the MAC, the WCHA consisted of the other schools with the western schools of The Big Ten. It was stacked.
You really need to update your research. WMU added video boards to Lawson a few years ago. It is also considered to have one of the best Student Sections not only in the NCHC, but in the NCAA. That is due to the size of the arena and how close the fans are to the ice. Lawson is definitely an "old barn" arena, but that is why it is a great place to watch a hockey game.
I don't know that it will ever come up again on your channel, but AMSOIL, the title sponsor for Minnesota Duluth's arena, is pronounce like Am's Oil, not A-M-S-Oil. It is named after the local Amatuzio family, who own AMSOIL.
The development is the old Ak-Sar-Ben racetrack and coliseum, where the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben hosted their coronation ball and a livestock show. The coliseum, comparable in size to Baxter Arena, was also home to the Omaha Knights minor-league hockey team.
Wowee these are impressive, every one of these is amazing! I think the city of Miami in Florida was founded by a few investors from the state of Ohio and named the place in Florida after where they had come from. I believe there is a Miami river and county in Ohio but some of our Buckeye friends will have to confirm some of these details for me. edit: Western Michigan looks a little average compared to the others but I would imagine if that arena is full the atmosphere would be great so I am happy to classify it as amazing like the rest.
Expect that arena to be a sea of green when UND plays there. Going to practically be a North Dakota home game because half of North Dakota snowbirds in Arizona in the winter.
Please can you do the Champions Hockey League Arenas. It's a European first-level ice hockey tournament. Similar to the Champions League but for hockey. Also because you have hit 100K subs you can apply for a UA-cam verification tick. To show your official. 😎

Some outstanding arenas throughout this conference! The Ralph is one of the best arenas in the country, flat out. It's absolutely lush inside

Duluth's Amsoil Arena is my favorite! Yes I've been to several.
Lawson also makes up for their low capacity and substandard facilities by being one of the rowdiest atmospheres in the country
As a WMU alum I support this 100%
I didn't know this until I read your comment but I could tell by the layout. Looks like a lot of junior league arenas we have in the prairies (Canada) that get really loud. Like you're almost sitting on the ice.
Western is breaking ground on a new arena that will open by 2026-2027
Some of these arenas look like NHL venues. Very impressive.
Considering that ASU’s Mullett Arena is the temporary home of the Arizona Coyotes, that’s not too far fetched.

Love the college hockey content love to see more
would love a video on hockey east arenas. some of the best college hockey is played in that conference
I've been to the other Ralph Englestad Arena. It's located in the town of Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and though it has a capacity of just 3,500, it's a pretty nice venue.
Some really awesome barns in this conference!
You should do more hockey arenas like Liiga, DEL, Allsvenskan, Extraliga, ICE Hockey League and Alps International. Love the video as always
Don’t forget the Canadian Junior leagues
@@danielflynn8530 absolutely, would love to see the QMJHL, OHL, WHL and any other junoir/college arenas
@@TheRagingTornado I think Hockey East will be a great video and my guess Stadiums Worldwide will like Maine’s Alfond arena the most.

Not a NoDak fan, but the Ralph, as it’s called, is arguably college hockey’s best venue
No one came close in 2001 and no one comes close in 2023. Grew up going to games there and it’s one of HOCKEY’s best venues. In little Grand Forks ND of all places. Side note - long live the old WCHA.
100%
The WCHA was never the same. Other than the schools affiliated with the MAC, the WCHA consisted of the other schools with the western schools of The Big Ten. It was stacked.
Blame Penn State. Once there were 6 Big10 schools playing hockey, there was a Big10 Hockey Conf
And Alaska Anchorage, which was the only truly western school
All these buildings look outstanding.....as a Canadian I am envious
Those 10 championship banners inside Magnus arena really complete the look

Finally! You are my hero!!!
I haven't been to Omaha's arena but the development around the place is pretty nice

Finally! Been waiting over two years and 263 videos for this.
Time to updates this video as the NCHC has added two new teams. Arizona state university and St. Thomas university
Wow! Nice to see my alma mater hockey rink featured on this channel. Can you guess which stadium it was?
National Hockey Center in Saint Cloud Minnesota.
Can you do the SPHL next?
Thank you buddy! Putting my hometown first too!!
Wowee these are impressive, every one of these is amazing!

Also for DU’s they have their practice rink next door to it. I played a tournament on that ice
When’s the Quidditch stadium video coming?
Arizona State is joining this conference in 2024 with a new arena
Expect that arena to be a sea of green when UND plays there. Going to practically be a North Dakota home game because half of North Dakota snowbirds in Arizona in the winter.
Can you do junior hockey? WHL , OHL, QMJHL?
That’s what I’m thinking. Would be a great video. I’ve seen a few stadiums across the whl and qmjhl. Go hurricanes go islanders
You should do Big Ten hockey arena
I think he has done one, check his past posts.
You need to do a part 2 do to Arizona state Sun devils joining to make it 9 teams!
LOVE IT THANK YOU
