These look great but the other alternative is Seiko SNK381. Cost is around £100 and it can easily be modded with a more authentic hand set, or even a domed sapphire crystal.
I just got one and put a nato strap on. Such an awesome and underrated watch

Like others have said, the althernative here is the Seiko (reissue?) SNK381, at around a 3rd of the cost, and also fitted with a mineral crystal.
Ok you get the upgraded movement in the Praesidus, and I prefer the 38mm size, but for the money you'd expect a sapphire, or an acrylic, which would be easier to repair!
Seiko will eventually reissue the MacV themselves & sell it for $1200 with a Prospex logo

A Seiko 5 homage powered by a Seiko 5 movement that costs more than a new Seiko 5? This is the watch hobby eating its own tail.
This watch hacks and hand winds and has a better movement than the SNK381. It has a better strap, sapphire coating, it's a more modern size, and it's assembled in the US. Are you even into watches? ;)
It's a Seiko 5 from the 60's Homage to a version that had a brass case and coated exterior. This is a Upgraded version that improves several features. You can buy a vintage Seiko MACV- SOG version for well over $1000.00 USD if you can find a good one
Is the Lumed Numbers as Green as on their Web Page....seems more accurate on you example on this vid ,?

Nice review, definately the Praesidus has made a nice homage to the OG Seiko, but it is funny as Seiko themselves brought it back although with slightly different hands. The Seiko 5 SNK381K is the same watch but for $150 bucks in Amazon, the only thing is the hands and size. Were the Praesidus is 38mm the Seiko stays at 36mm which is the OG's size, but the dial is the same for the exception of the hands.
I actually like the dial look more than the Seiko 381. But is that worth DOUBLE the seiko price?!
looks great but the seiko sports does the same thing for same price and has 10 bar water resistance
Bought the Seiko 5 3861 and swapped the strap for a Citizen military canvas .
Its a lot cheaper and has the pedigree of the original watches
Check out the Vaer field watches, better lume and size.

I don't like it - because it doesn't use the 3.8 crown positions that Seiko has. Which means I can't do a dial swap with an actual Seiko

For a canteen watch the water resistance is underwhelming and the price is too high

It’s a nice watch but it’s clearly a seiko design and to me it feels odd to have another brands logo on the dial on a watch with this heritage
