I’ve been waiting for this video to come out for so long. My mom still doesn’t believe that you can go ice fishing in Arizona and I’m trying to get her to let me go and try. Lol
Here in Minnesota we hardly get any good ice this to fish. The lot of resorts here are not doing good because of not enough ice. I was very surprised that you guys are actually ice fishing down there. Enjoy while you can cause life is too short and be safe out there.
Some pointers, first bring a slotted serving spoon to scoop the ice. Second use only the top part of a full size fishing rod and just use electric tape to put your reel on. It works! A lot of times it’s just a waiting game for the fish to bite. Tube jigs and spoons are good as well for bringing in bites and you can tip your lures with a chunk of worm as well. It’s always exciting doing your first ice fishing trip in a new place!
I was out there this last weekend, slow bite. I have the auger, fish finder, etc. but it is definitely a slower bite than trout through the ice I've seen elsewhere.
@@TheFishinMagician20 It got a bit colder on Friday and Saturday nights, which helped the ice a lot. Sort of the same 2" of good ice with a varying degree of refreezing slush on top. We went out on Saturday night until 0200 seeing if we could pull a catfish (no luck) but the ice towards the dam is completely unsafe. We like to have one person go ahead in snowshoes and punch holes with the auger to check ice ahead of the group. I might try Sunrise this weekend, but it's a four hour drive from Phoenix so who knows.
Yes it was 6-7 inches that day. Perfectly safe. I tried to go again a few days ago and the rain chopped it down to 1.5 inches. We couldn’t even walk on it anymore

@@FishingWithPorter it’s good to take the stairs up not elevator bro. Maybe one day you’ll even catch a brown!
@@ErwinEdventures hey man I got goals but that just doesn’t seem possible 😂
Wheres this at up north? Coconino? This looked hella fun

Thanks for the tips!
The safety ice picks should slide together. Buy a KDrill for your 18v brushless drill. Havefun!!
Looks super fun friend! 🎉
It was! thank you
Very fun! When we lived in Flagstaff, we ice fish at Ashurst Lake. It's a cool experience! 👍👍
Nice! I have heard a lot about that lake! It is an awesome experience forsure.
Cool Marc! Leaving cuz its getting too warm haha we know what heat does to ice haha good call!
Yea we take no chances hahaha
Firsttttt this is a good one 💪
Indeed 🔥

Ice was still safe? I tried Friday and rain had melted a fair amount. It was like 1.5 inches. But yes suuuuuper slow

I thought I was beginning to understand this world......then I see guys ice fishing Arizona?
Right?!
Ive been waiting for this one!
I’m excited for it!
Great job
Thanks 🙏🏼
Right on bro. Awesome video. Did you measure how thick the ice was? I think I'm gonna head up that way next month.
Yes it was 6-7 inches that day. Perfectly safe. I tried to go again a few days ago and the rain chopped it down to 1.5 inches. We couldn’t even walk on it anymore
Soooo sick. Finally get a fish and it’s a bow 😂 it’ll take it though first fish ever through the ice 🎣
I was praying for you 😅 next time
???????? You're crazy dude. Welcome to the club. This is a first for AZ.
Hey gotta push the boundaries 😅
Hey! Was wondering where up north you were fishing?
Willow, but I went back 2 days later and there was only 1 inch of ice. It changes frequently up there so be careful
That’s definitely different. Just don’t build a roaring fire beside your fishing hole. 🤣😂🤣
Good point! hahaha
This was probably a couple weeks ago when we had that strong cold front.
Nope a couple days ago
Tried this at lake Mary caught a monster pike! It works
Nice! Yes lake Mary is a little sketchy right now haha
@@TheFishinMagician20lmao yes caught it last lear during the same time this year!
How thick was the ice? I have thought many times of going to the rim lakes for this but i didn't want to drive and find out it was too thin
If was 7-8 inches when we were there but that has changed. The window is always super small to do it up there
@TheFishinMagician20 Thanks man. I will have to wait for one of those miserable cold spells
Which lake is this? This looks so fun! It looks like a blast over there!🐟🐟
Last I went ice fishing I used gulp minnows. We cought our limit in like under an hour. Maybe next time you can use those.
@@lelelu8147 Willow I’ve heard good things about gulp minnows through the ice
Lesssss gooooooo
🔥🔥🔥
👀🎣🎣👀
is this woods canyon lake or willow springs?
Willow you can’t get to woods I don’t think
Not gonna lie, I was expecting all the little smallies to steal all your red worms since it was at Willow Springs.
lol they were not active for us
@TheFishinMagician20 Nice tigers though 👌.
There was a time when people attached boards so they wouldn’t fall through thin ice and drown…😕
If it was sketchy ice I woulda have taken more precaution, but 6-7 inches it was pretty solid
@@TheFishinMagician20oh, yeah, that’s plenty😉
