So towards the end around 4:00 you guys can see the sides and back up close after the cut. It’s a less smooth transition than I would like it to be and you might run into that occasionally with different barbers. It’s all good, my hair grew so fast it wasn’t noticeable very long. Just something to keep an eye out for before you leave the chair I didn’t catch it and I normally look at these types of things a bit closer so just a heads up!
Robert Rodriguez I actually just got a cut from FadeStation for the Flat Top everyone’s requested. I’ve had some friends recommend Southside Fade I’ll hit their shop up next! I appreciate the recommendation!
As a retired Marine and master barber with 40 years behind the chair, i can tell you that is not a high n tight. That is a high bald fade. A true high n tight goes higher up than yours is with nothing than a oval amount of hair on top. The regs state that it has to be clean with nothing showing from below your cover. It can be as long as yours is on top but needs to go higher. We only got a high n tight when we graduated from bmt. Most barbers today do not know how to give a true high n tight. Your haircut looks great by the way.
Russell Bogrett first thank you for your service sir. Also, I really appreciate all that insight Russell!! You’re totally right a classic high and tight does go higher. I brought the fade down just a bit to keep my face from looking too round since it’s somewhat round to begin with. I tried to keep all the elements I could for a cut inspired by the high and tight while keeping some what of a square shape to my face. You’re right though I’ve seen pictures of a this style as you described. Thanks so much for watching sir and I really do appreciate your feedback!
I let my hair grow out for 6 months and my workmates literally could not recognize me after getting one of these. A police officer even complimented me while being stopped for a broken headlight.
@@MechInvent Ha ha. A lot of police officers wear a H&T because they have a military background and also because there is nothing to grab on to with a super short haircut in a confrontational one-on-one situation. Not to mention that it's a good clean cut look in combination with a uniform.

Hey Kelvin. Love the high & tight on you! Great video dude! Agree that there is a bit of a line showing on the back. I've never had a razor shaved high & tight (just clipper shaved) but might give it a try! Bet it felt strange after the barber razor shaved it. That was a very nice transformation Kelvin. You enter the shop with shaggy hair growth from the last haircut and then you leave the shop last month with a fresh tight military haircut. Looks good. What was the first thing you did upon leaving the shop with this haircut and did you feel your head a lot afterwards? First time ever high and tight, right? Can you post this again but with sound and no editing---start to finish video? Keep this one on, but add a new full version video of this haircut. By the way, what did the barber say when you wanted a high and tight military haircut and did you know beforehand if he done them before? Just a tad better clipper to shave blending would have been needed here, but otherwise a nice short haircut for you. It is now a month later, are you ready to ask for a horseshoe flattop with sides the back shaved? Or as a few here suggested, a full razored head shave? I say do both, a horseshoe shaved flattop then a week or two later a full head shave. Your thought and plans?
Thank you for this video, very informative ! Got me a flat top yesterday after 20 years again, but now looks like I'm looking for inspiration to do something else with my flat topped hair 😅
I started getting hnt's a few summers ago. They are fun and it was bad ass having a straight razor go down my scalp. But I really got addicted once the electric razor was added at the end to get all the stubble--as if the razor was shaving against the grain. I love that baby smooth feel. Kevin, you never commented on the feel, so what did you think? And I second the idea of trying a flat. I actually go flat mid to late summer, maybe even add landing strip for kicks--it's not business style but it sure is summer fun. There are several different ways to do a flat so make sure you have a barber that knows flats, knows your head shape, and knows your personality.
ralumni haha I couldn’t agree more about feeling badass once they bring that razor out! It felt great I was hesitant because I’ve never cut my hair that short before. Now that I’ve done it though I’m excited to try more and more styles. I think it’s an amazing summer hair cut low maintenance and so far it’s grown out in a great way. I appreciate you stopping by my channel and leaving a comment ralumni!
@@KTKrup and did you have trouble pulling your shirt off for the next few days due to "velcro effect" of scalp stubble catching the fibers of the shirt? Haha.

I keep getting the NJROTC/NROTC haircut I had in High School and College (Texas A&M); I sometimes make the drive to College Station, Texas where they know the lingo and I get what I want every time.
So glad you found it helpful! Ya the fade wasn’t as clean as I was hoping but the general structure of the style was there going to request it again in the near future I’m sure
Great haircut Kelvin. How many days before Christmas did you get this military high and tight fade haircut? It is quite short to have just before the holidays. What did family and co-workers at your employment say if they saw it in person or via this posted video?? Did you advance warn anyone that you were to get a skin tight military haircut like this? Were you nervous to get such a short military haircut? I think you said this was the shortest ever haircut that you had (including in childhood?), so did you know that you have exposed three round birthmarks on the back of your head? Hope that the barber did not almost razor scrape them off!!! lol Over-all its a nice short haircut to keep you cool in the winter months to say nothing of 110-degree summer temperatures!! When is your next haircut video?
Thanks so much, Kendall! I really appreciate you checking out the video and leaving such a lengthy comment! Let me answer those questions for you 👍 "How many days before Christmas did you get this military high and tight fade haircut?" - I got it cut close to two weeks before Christmas my hair length at the end of the video is a week and a half of growth. "Did you advance warn anyone that you were to get a skin-tight military haircut like this?" - No I told no one so they were very surprised when they saw it! haha " Were you nervous to get such a short military haircut?" - At first, I was because I had never cut my hair that short before. I was basically bald on a good portion of my head for a while lol, However, it's important to remember that hair grows back and doing small things like this can push you out of your comfort zone and lead you to make bolder decisions with your style in the future. "did you know that you have exposed three round birthmarks on the back of your head?" - Yes hahah I had to warn the barber that they were there so he didn't go over them too aggressively with the clippers. "When is your next haircut video?" - It's going to be a month or so probably I might try a flattop or I might grow it out and try something else I'm not sure just yet.
Colin Old Music thanks so much colin! Thanks for stopping by my channel too! I really enjoyed this cut and it’s actually grown out quite nicely. Not at all I’m 26!
Wow! That's great news. It looks so good on you, especially wth your bangs combed forward at the front and trimmed evenly! It would be interesting to see your hair qas a teenager, say 10 years ago! Do you8 have any pics?
If I remember correctly he started with around a 2 or a closed 1.5 when he was removing a lot of the general bulk. I would suggest starting with a two since you can always request to go a little shorter. Thanks for checking out the video!
I actually just got a buzz cut yesterday I did a 2 on top and bald sides so super short! But didn’t film it wanted to see how it looks First haha I’ll probably share a photo of the cut here on UA-cam or IG at some point
I hear you I agree the blending transition really wasn't all that smooth. I also chose to bring the blend down slightly just to try and keep my face from looking too round due to a lack of dimension from the fade being a bit higher thanks so much for checking gout the video btw!
Hello Kelvin, great haircut video..wish you would show more of the back view after the fresht tight haircut especially to see the blending lines in the back--and wish you had your camera person show more close-up detail on the actual razor shaving the sides and back. So, how did it feel to get such a nice short haircut which I too also want to get perhaps next year 2019? What reactions did you get and most of all which barber shop was this haircut done at---name of shop and city? Like the high and tight?? First time ever with that type of haircut?? I love it and wish to get the same.
Hey Robert! I appreciate that feedback I'll try to extend the time I show certain sections of the cut and I'll definitely try and get some more close-ups of the actual razor. I think you're right I should have shown the razor in more detail and I didn't think to get a shot like that. I'm planning on showing some pictures and clips on Instagram as well that might help show you some more detail with the back of the head. "How did it feel to get such a nice short haircut" It felt great having a haircut this short I've never cut it this short before it was quite cold idk why I decided to do it in the winter lol but I wear beanies and it's no problem. I totally recommend trying it out it's a low maintenance and it can still bring good shape and structure to the face. "What reactions did you get?" A lot of different reactions! If this is your first time cutting it this short the people around you will definitely take notice. Even people at local coffee shops I go to had to do a double take because it's so different than what I normally get but nothing but compliments and positive feedback. "Which Barber Shop?" I can't remember off the top of my head and I don't think they're listed well online I'll have to ask the barber I have his number. I actually found it by word of mouth there's a lot of retired military guys who frequent that shop so I wanted to go there for my military inspired cut. I'm out here in Albuquerque, NM that's where the cut was done. "Like the high and tight? First time ever with that type of haircut?" Yes I love it and yes it's my first time with this type of haircut I'll definitely be getting it again. I recommend being attentive to the fade mine isn't as clean as I was hoping it would be and that's on me for not catching it. So really inspect the fade on the sides and back before you hop out of the chair at the end of the cut. I hope I answered all your questions thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave the feedback you did I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, my friend!
You should see a dermatologist to remove the large mole near you crown. I had one removed like that and it was well worth the hassle. Plus may be precancerous?
Thanks for checking out my video Ryan! This is a very common question and I think it depends....if your hair is thick up top and you're not balding in certain sections. My recommendation would be to try a short style like a high and tight or even a burr cut (really short buzz cut) I think you can always shave it completely off if you decide you still don't like how it looks. That's all with me not seeing your hair but I used Jude law as my reference.
Jefferson Johanes I think it depends but usually shorter hairstyles like this can help men with thin/fine hair (like myself) with the appearance of having a more dense looking head of hair.
Abhishek Shrotri hey man thanks for watching! Oval face shapes have a lot of flexibility so I would say yes the biggest thing is to get it cut in a way that doesn’t make your face look too round. Thanks again man.
Being a barber in a Marine town, that is just a high fade. A high and tight is even higher. And the line left in the back in this cut needs to be faded out.
Tim Addis thanks for the feedback Tim I really appreciate it. I agree the fade should have been smoothed out better. One of my more recent videos showing the flattop has a much smoother fade. I agree that a more strict military cut would be even higher. I just wanted to bring the sides down slightly to show how you can get a similar cut without making your head look more round. Which is helpful for people who have a very round face shape to bring with. But I agree and I appreciate you taking the time to check out the video and drop a comment man.
@@KTKrup Thank you for your support , his last name was lytle but people called him little, thank you for writing back.. Best of luck with your channel
Joshua Flores I feel you I noticed when I was back at my studio that the blending wasn’t quite where I wanted it but fortunately it grew out quite fast. I’ve got another haircut video going up beginning of next week at a different place and the fade was much cleaner. Thanks for stopping by my channel too man! I appreciate it.
My. Bad bro, I wasnt trying to be hard on the cut you got, I was. Being a extreme visualizer, but hey the shorter hair cut makes u look younger if that makes U feel better,,
Yeahhhh lol this haircut doesn’t grow out in the same functional way as others I’ve done that’s for sure! These days I prefer to get my haircut in a way that will let me go at least 6 weeks before my next cut (if I do some general maintenance myself) Thanks so much for watching man!
urie p. I feel you I noticed it once I got home too. I’m getting another cut this weekend at a different place hoping to have a smoother fade. Thanks for checking out the video!
John Doe A layered texture generally involves cutting certain areas of your hair shorter so longer hair rests on top. “Layering” or cutting certain sections of your hair shorter helps keep the overall weight of your hairstyle down helping with your ability to achieve volume. Thanks for watching the video by the way glad you stopped by!
Bro...that fade is really screwed up. You can still see the guide line and it’s all zig zagged to boot and not faded at all. I literally started cutting my own hair cause of the virus and mine came out better than that.
ThinBlueLine you’re not wrong luckily my hair grows fast and once it grew a little you couldn’t see how bad the line was. I still enjoyed the short style for a while I’ll be trying it again with a different barber for sure. Thanks for watching man I appreciate it
Kelvin Krupiak no problem. Didn’t mean to come at you offensively I just see this more and more since the quarantine and am a stickler for this now I’m sure a lot of barbers got away with it in the past with me but you should deff leave a bad review for them. Looks like he faded one side more than the other on top of leaving those guide lines crooked to begins with which in turn messes up the fade higher and higher. I’m not a pro, but this was bs lol
Varad Gauthankar hey Varad! Thanks for checking out the video! Are you asking what me or my barber was talking out? I don’t remember what I said honestly lol I believe I was talking about the haircut mostly
Not going to criticize too much man oh man. While Josh gave you a seemingly clean look a f'd you up from a devils standard. First off the line is crooked to a trained eye and second it's too low to be a high and tight. Basically he gave you what we call a "barracks cut" and if you were actually in the corps an ass chewing. If you ever want to try this again go to a seasoned barber closest to the base. The good ones are usually a small hole in the wall.
Yeah you’re not wrong about the line it’s crazy because I couldn’t really tell until I got home and looked at the video footage. Found a new barber since this video who think could do much better job. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback for sure!
Hey, Navid I think it could have been a bit smoother for sure. I should have noticed it sooner but luckily my hair grows so fast it wasn't too noticeable after a few days. The fade in my most recent flat top video was definitely quite a bit smoother. Thanks for checking out my channel!
em p I feel you I was just curious if it was something specific I could ask him about maybe on the next haircut or something that’s why I asked. I appreciate the feedback brother and again thanks for checking out the video!
12345 it’s a military inspired haircut it’s really the type of High and right most people would get unless they’re looking for a very strict military high and right which would be even shorter. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it!
That’s not a high and tight. The fade is much too low. The whole definition of high and tight you don’t get to decide where the fade is. The is a MAYBE a medium reg., maybe a high reg. Not a high and tight.
Jay Burris hey Jay the reason I brought the fade down just a tad is because in a strict military sense the high and tight can accentuate how round my face is bringing the fade down slightly while still shaving everything off allows me to keep some dimension and shape. There are a few modern variants that fall under the high and tight category still influenced by the more strict military cut. Thanks for checking out the video man I really appreciate it.
I understand why you did it. Its fine. The haircut you got is a high reg though. Its NOT a high and tight. It CERTAINLY wouldnt be a "Marine Corps High and Tight" @@KTKrup

This is a great cut, Kelvin! It definitely suits you well! I'll have to try it soon!
Will you ever go this short again Kalivn it looks amazing on you
When is Your next haircut video this one was great
Jesse Hinebaugh hey Jesse! Thanks so much for stopping by the channel! Next should be out by the end of the week or hopefully early next week!
Let me answer those questions for you 👍
"How many days before Christmas did you get this military high and tight fade haircut?"
- I got it cut close to two weeks before Christmas my hair length at the end of the video is a week and a half of growth.
"Did you advance warn anyone that you were to get a skin-tight military haircut like this?"
- No I told no one so they were very surprised when they saw it! haha
" Were you nervous to get such a short military haircut?"
- At first, I was because I had never cut my hair that short before. I was basically bald on a good portion of my head for a while lol, However, it's important to remember that hair grows back and doing small things like this can push you out of your comfort zone and lead you to make bolder decisions with your style in the future.
"did you know that you have exposed three round birthmarks on the back of your head?"
- Yes hahah I had to warn the barber that they were there so he didn't go over them too aggressively with the clippers.
"When is your next haircut video?"
- It's going to be a month or so probably I might try a flattop or I might grow it out and try something else I'm not sure just yet.
Perfect model
I liked it when you looked like Butters. High and tight, the way to go. 👊🏽
Wows! You look so good with this haircut! Can I ask how old you are?
Colin Old Music thanks so much colin! Thanks for stopping by my channel too! I really enjoyed this cut and it’s actually grown out quite nicely. Not at all I’m 26!
Can you also tell me, is this the first High and tight you've ever had?
Colin Old Music yes it is I don’t think it will be my last though :)
Wow! That's great news. It looks so good on you, especially wth your bangs combed forward at the front and trimmed evenly! It would be interesting to see your hair qas a teenager, say 10 years ago! Do you8 have any pics?
wow.. after cut, you look like a man that every should man hairstyle look like.. big thumb ups bro..
Getting ready to do this solo
I really like the song towards the end of you cut what's the name of it Kelvin
That would be "Those Nights" from Dj Quads soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads :]
Beautiful cating bro
What is the guard number that you used at the very beginning, at 0:23? I feel that length would suit me.
If I remember correctly he started with around a 2 or a closed 1.5 when he was removing a lot of the general bulk. I would suggest starting with a two since you can always request to go a little shorter. Thanks for checking out the video!
will u ever try going shorter then this say a zero buzz cut or a razor head shave.
it will definetly suit you
I actually just got a buzz cut yesterday I did a 2 on top and bald sides so super short! But didn’t film it wanted to see how it looks First haha I’ll probably share a photo of the cut here on UA-cam or IG at some point
@@KTKrup post the pic in the community posts on yotube from all four sides .
Need to blend the line out more. Needs to be higher.
I hear you I agree the blending transition really wasn't all that smooth. I also chose to bring the blend down slightly just to try and keep my face from looking too round due to a lack of dimension from the fade being a bit higher thanks so much for checking gout the video btw!
Is anyone gonna comment that he looks like jethro gibbs. Nice haircut btw.
The gibbs from his young years in the marines just so there isnt any confusion
"How did it feel to get such a nice short haircut"
It felt great having a haircut this short I've never cut it this short before it was quite cold idk why I decided to do it in the winter lol but I wear beanies and it's no problem. I totally recommend trying it out it's a low maintenance and it can still bring good shape and structure to the face.
"What reactions did you get?"
A lot of different reactions! If this is your first time cutting it this short the people around you will definitely take notice. Even people at local coffee shops I go to had to do a double take because it's so different than what I normally get but nothing but compliments and positive feedback.
"Which Barber Shop?"
I can't remember off the top of my head and I don't think they're listed well online I'll have to ask the barber I have his number. I actually found it by word of mouth there's a lot of retired military guys who frequent that shop so I wanted to go there for my military inspired cut. I'm out here in Albuquerque, NM that's where the cut was done.
"Like the high and tight? First time ever with that type of haircut?"
Yes I love it and yes it's my first time with this type of haircut I'll definitely be getting it again.
Nice
Mzungu thanks for watching man!
Mate I'm receeding, like jude law receeding, should I just buzz it or do you think I should give this one a try? My hair is still pretty thick ontop
3:55 the "i" gets in the way of screenshots.
aveuch ahhh that’s a good point I didn’t even realize that my bad I’ll move it. Appreciate the heads up brother!
Justin Timberlake + Britney Spears = High N Tight + Kelvin Krupiak = 💘
Those two couple's need to get back together especially the second one!
The shave haircut on next video bro
Yup Py thanks so much for watching Yup! It’s between that and a flattop I believe will see what happens!
Currently, my hair is thinning and it's really suck. Do you think this hairstyle is suitable person with thinning hair?
Jefferson Johanes I think it depends but usually shorter hairstyles like this can help men with thin/fine hair (like myself) with the appearance of having a more dense looking head of hair.
@@KTKrup thanks for the reply 😀
Just saw the lobos flag, you go to UNM ??
Oscar Manzano thanks for checking out the video Oscar! I did I graduated not too long ago actually!
LIKE it!
CrotalusNM yoooo I appreciate it 🙌
What's the Song Name from 3,30 sec - 3,50 sec? 😉
That would be "Those Nights" from Dj Quads soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads :]
Add a goatee for a even better look.
What is the number on a top?
Finger Length. Between a 4-5.
Will this suit for people with oval faces?
You look like a guy i served with, Aloy like him
losttribe1993 first off thank you for your service sir. And second thanks for taking the time to stop by my channel I really appreciate it.
@@KTKrup
Thank you for your support , his last name was lytle but people called him little, thank you for writing back.. Best of luck with your channel
Real talk..... His blending is not that good, he didn't knock it out good, so I give him a 9 out of a 10
Joshua Flores I feel you I noticed when I was back at my studio that the blending wasn’t quite where I wanted it but fortunately it grew out quite fast. I’ve got another haircut video going up beginning of next week at a different place and the fade was much cleaner. Thanks for stopping by my channel too man! I appreciate it.
My. Bad bro, I wasnt trying to be hard on the cut you got, I was. Being a extreme visualizer, but hey the shorter hair cut makes u look younger if that makes U feel better,,
Joshua Flores no worries man!! I always appreciate the honest feedback it’s always helpful.
marines here for "high and tight" and "fade" being used in the same sentence
fk mate, this looks good
the Blue thanks for the feedback man appreciate you stopping by the video!
Problem with this cut is that you have to get it every week lol
Yeahhhh lol this haircut doesn’t grow out in the same functional way as others I’ve done that’s for sure! These days I prefer to get my haircut in a way that will let me go at least 6 weeks before my next cut (if I do some general maintenance myself)
Thanks so much for watching man!
At 3:59 barber left a mushroom line on you
The lines could definitely have been cleaned up a bit more. Thanks for checking out the video.
Fade needs more work. Try the trimmers to fade the faint guide line
urie p. I feel you I noticed it once I got home too. I’m getting another cut this weekend at a different place hoping to have a smoother fade. Thanks for checking out the video!
Forrest Gump💪👍🏼
Alors n'hésite pas à me contacter si tu as l'occasion de venir à Paris bonne fin d'année
You look like forest gump😄
lol I don't mind that thanks for stopping by the channel Arthur I appreciate it!
Un corte militar
Sí, es un corte militar y me gusta mucho.
@@KTKrup Thanks Kevin i do these cut for you to anytime you come to Portland Oregon Barber Greg ;-)
How is length tied to "layering"? You did finger length at 90 degrees. That's called layering. Your top is heavily layered. 90 degree layered.
Gotta go on base lol civilian barbers always translate a 0 to a 1, it’s actually really annoying
I've never had a haircut on an actual base I assume I can't do that as a civilian correct? Thanks so much for watching btw!
Good cut, but really? An American flag for the cutting cape?
NOOOOO!!!! 😳😱👨🏼🦲
Shaun Leonard I’m sorry Shaun 😭 lol
Kelvin Krupiak 😂
Remote the hater
i wonder what he's talking all the time
Varad Gauthankar hey Varad!
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback for sure!
you need longer hair than that, in the back, due to the ugly moles and such. also, its too pale back there lol looks bad.
That’s $15 fade, could be done a lot better
Hey, Navid I think it could have been a bit smoother for sure. I should have noticed it sooner but luckily my hair grows so fast it wasn't too noticeable after a few days. The fade in my most recent flat top video was definitely quite a bit smoother. Thanks for checking out my channel!
Il barbiere non era capace
Thats not high and tight sorry
Flavio Rodriguez Yanez apology accepted thank you
you are very cute!
hope i didnt offend u
Mark Kubacki no not at all! Thank you very much!
This Barber should not be charging people for these cuts, that’s the worst fade I’ve ever seen
Butchered, might wanna get a new barber
em p thanks for watching man! How exactly do you mean butchered? What is it specifically you’re referring to?
The fade.
em p I gotcha what about it though?
Im a barber myself so im just letting you know your barbers fade needs work
em p I feel you I was just curious if it was something specific I could ask him about maybe on the next haircut or something that’s why I asked. I appreciate the feedback brother and again thanks for checking out the video!
Not really military but okay
12345 it’s a military inspired haircut it’s really the type of High and right most people would get unless they’re looking for a very strict military high and right which would be even shorter. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it!
dude, next time go see a real barber not a hipster barber and get a real haircut, not be a fashion mannequin for bad fading
It CERTAINLY wouldnt be a "Marine Corps High and Tight"
@@KTKrup
Jay Burris never said it was a marine core high and tight I believe I said “inspired by the marine corps”
